1Is there not a warfare to man upon earth? And are not his days like the days of a hireling?
1பூமியிலே போராட மனுஷனுக்குக் குறிக்கப்பட்ட காலம் உண்டல்லவோ? அவன் நாட்கள் ஒரு கூலிக்காரன் நாட்களைப்போல் இருக்கிறதல்லவோ?
2As a servant that earnestly desireth the shadow, And as a hireling that looketh for his wages:
2ஒரு வேலையாள் நிழலை வாஞ்சித்து, ஒரு கூலிக்காரன் தன் கூலியை வரப்பார்த்திருக்கிறதுபோல,
3So am I made to possess months of misery, And wearisome nights are appointed to me.
3மாயையான மாதங்கள் என்னுடைய சுதந்தரமாகி, சஞ்சலமான இராத்திரிகள் எனக்குக் குறிக்கப்பட்டது.
4When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? And I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day.
4நான் படுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறபோது, எப்பொழுது எழுந்திருப்பேன்? இராக்காலம் எப்பொழுது முடியும் என்று சொல்லி, கிழக்கு வெளுக்குமட்டும் அரண்டு புரளுகிறதினால் எனக்குப் போதுமென்றுபோகிறது.
5My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; My skin closeth up, and breaketh out afresh.
5என் மாம்சம் பூச்சிகளினாலும், அடைபற்றின புழுதியினாலும் மூடப்பட்டிருக்கிறது; என் தோல் வெடித்து அருவருப்பாயிற்று.
6My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, And are spent without hope.
6என் நாட்கள் நெய்கிறவன் எறிகிற நாடாவிலும் தீவிரமாய் ஓடுகிறது; அவைகள் நம்பிக்கையில்லாமல் முடிந்துபோகும்.
7Oh remember that my life is a breath: Mine eye shall no more see good.
7என் பிராணன் காற்றைப்போலிருக்கிறதென்றும், என் கண்கள் இனி நன்மையைக் காணப்போகிறதில்லையென்றும் நினைத்தருளும்.
8The eye of him that seeth me shall behold me no more; Thine eyes shall be upon me, but I shall not be.
8இப்போது என்னைக் காண்கிறவர்களின் கண்கள் இனி என்னைக் காண்பதில்லை; உம்முடைய கண்கள் என்மேல் நோக்கமாயிருக்கிறது; நானோ இல்லாமற்போகிறேன்.
9As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away, So he that goeth down to Sheol shall come up no more.
9மேகம் பறந்துபோகிறதுபோல, பாதாளத்தில் இறங்குகிறவன் இனி ஏறிவரான்.
10He shall return no more to his house, Neither shall his place know him any more.
10இனி தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பான், அவன் ஸ்தலம் இனி அவனை அறியாது.
11Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.
11ஆகையால் நான் என் வாயை அடக்காமல், என் ஆவியின் வேதனையினால் பேசி, என் ஆத்துமத்தின் கசப்பினால் அங்கலாய்ப்பேன்.
12Am I a sea, or a sea-monster, That thou settest a watch over me?
12தேவரீர் என்மேல் காவல் வைக்கிறதற்கு நான் சமுத்திரமோ? நான் ஒரு திமிங்கிலமோ?
13When I say, My bed shall comfort me, My couch shall ease my complaint;
13என் கட்டில் எனக்கு ஆறுதல் கொடுக்கும் என்றும், என் படுக்கை என் தவிப்பை ஆற்றும் என்றும் நான் சொல்வேனாகில்,
14Then thou scarest me with dreams, And terrifiest me through visions:
14நீர் சொப்பனங்களால் என்னைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணி, தரிசனங்களால் எனக்குத் திகிலுண்டாக்குகிறீர்.
15So that my soul chooseth strangling, And death rather than [these] my bones.
15அதினால் என் ஆத்துமா, நெருக்குண்டு சாகிறதையும், என் எலும்புகளோடே உயிரோடிருக்கிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும், மரணத்தையும் விரும்புகிறது.
16I loathe [my life]; I would not live alway: Let me alone; for my days are vanity.
16இப்படியிருக்கிறதை அரோசிக்கிறேன்; எந்நாளும் உயிரோடிருக்க விரும்பேன், என்னை விட்டுவிடும்; என் நாட்கள் மாயைதானே.
17What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him, And that thou shouldest set thy mind upon him,
17மனுஷனை நீர் ஒரு பொருட்டாக எண்ணுகிறதற்கும், அவன்மேல் சிந்தை வைக்கிறதற்கும்,
18And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, And try him every moment?
18காலைதோறும் அவனை விசாரிக்கிறதற்கும், நிமிஷந்தோறும் அவனைச் சோதிக்கிறதற்கும், அவன் எம்மாத்திரம்?
19How long wilt thou not look away from me, Nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?
19நான் என் உமிழ்நீரை விழுங்காதபடி எத்தனைகாலம் என்னை நெகிழாமலும், என்னை விடாமலும் இருப்பீர்.
20If I have sinned, what do I unto thee, O thou watcher of men? Why hast thou set me as a mark for thee, So that I am a burden to myself?
20மன்னுயிரைக்காப்பவரே, பாவஞ்செய்தேனானால் உமக்கு நான் செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன? நான் எனக்குத்தானே பாரமாயிருக்கும்படிக்கு, நீர் என்னை உமக்கு இலக்காக வைத்தது என்ன?
21And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? For now shall I lie down in the dust; And thou wilt seek me diligently, but I shall not be.
21என் மீறுதலை நீர் மன்னியாமலும், என் அக்கிரமத்தை நீக்காமலும் இருக்கிறது என்ன? இப்பொழுதே மண்ணில் படுத்துக்கொள்வேன்; விடியற்காலத்திலே என்னைத் தேடுவீரானால் நான் இரேன் என்றான்.
