¹Ug niadtong panahona si Herodes nga hari mibakyaw sa iyang kamot aron sa pagsakit sa pipila ka sakup sa iglesia.

¹At that time Herod the king laid his hands on some of those of the assembly to do them hurt,

²Ug gipatay niya sa pinuti si Jacobo nga igsoon ni Juan.

²and slew James, the brother of John, with the sword.

³Ug sa nakita niya nga hing-uyonan kini sa mga Judio, nagpadayon siya sa pagdakup kang Pedro usab. Ug mga adlaw kadto sa mga tinapay nga walay levadura.

³And seeing that it was pleasing to the Jews, he went on to take Peter also: (and they were the days of unleavened bread:)

⁴Ug sa hingdakpan na niya si Pedro, iyang gisulod siya sa bilanggoan, ug gitugyan siya sa upat ka tinagup-at nga mga sundalo, sa pagbantay kaniya; nga buot niyang paatubangon sa katawohan sa human ang Pasko.

⁴whom having seized he put in prison, having delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep, purposing after the passover to bring him out to the people.

⁵Busa ginabantayan si Pedro sa bilanggoan; apan ang mainit nga mga pag-ampo sa Dios gibuhat sa iglesia alang kaniya.

⁵Peter therefore was kept in the prison; but unceasing prayer was made by the assembly to God concerning him.

⁶Ug sa buot ni Herodes nga paatubangon siya sa katawohan, niadtong gabhiona natulog si Pedro sa taliwala sa duruha ka sundalo, ginapus sa duha ka talikala; ug ang mga bantay nga didto sa atubangan sa pultahan nagbantay sa bilanggoan.

⁶And when Herod was going to bring him forth, that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and guards before the door kept the prison.

⁷Ug ania karon, usa ka manolonda sa Ginoo miatubang kaniya, ug misidlak ang usa ka kahayag sa bilanggoan; ug sa gikablit siya sa kilid, iyang gipukaw, nga nagaingon: Bumangon ka sa madali. Ug ang mga talikala nangataktak gikan sa iyang mga kamot.

⁷And lo, an angel of [the] Lord came there, and a light shone in the prison: and having smitten the side of Peter, he roused him up, saying, Rise up quickly. And his chains fell off his hands.

⁸Ug miingon kaniya ang manolonda: Magbakus ka, ug ihigut ang imong mga sandalia. Ug gibuhat niya kini. Ug siya miingon kaniya: Isul-ob ang imong bisti, ug sumunod kanako.

⁸And the angel said to him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And he did so. And he says to him, Cast thine upper garment about thee and follow me.

⁹Ug migula si Pedro ug misunod kaniya; ug wala siya mahibalo nga matuod ang gibuhat sa manolonda, kondili nagdahum siya nga usa ka panan-awon ang iyang nakita.

⁹And going forth he followed [him] and did not know that what was happening by means of the angel was real, but supposed he saw a vision.

¹⁰Ug sa gilabyan nila ang nahauna ug ikaduha ka bantay, nakadangat sila sa pultahan nga puthaw, nga nagatultol ngadto sa ciudad; nga miabli kanila sa iyang kaugalingon; ug sa nakagula sila, miagi sila sa usa ka dalan, ug gilayon mibulag kaniya ang manolonda.

¹⁰And having passed through a first and second guard, they came to the iron gate which leads into the city, which opened to them of itself; and going forth they went down one street, and immediately the angel left him.

¹¹Ug sa hing-ulian si Pedro, miingon: Karon naila ko, sa pagkamatuod, nga gisugo sa Ginoo ang iyang manolonda, ug nagluwas kanako gikan sa kamot ni Herodes ug gikan sa bug-os nga paghulat sa lungsod sa mga Judio.

¹¹And Peter, being come to himself, said, Now I know certainly that [the] Lord has sent forth his angel and has taken me out of the hand of Herod and all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

¹²Ug sa nagpalandong siya niini, miadto siya sa balay ni Maria, nga inahan ni Juan, nga may bansagon nga Marcos diin didto nanagtigum sang daghan ug nanag-ampo.

¹²And having become clearly conscious [in himself], he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John who was surnamed Mark, where were many gathered together and praying.

¹³Ug sa nagtuktuk si Pedro sa pultahan nga sa gawas miduol sa pagpaniid ang usa ka sulogoon nga ginganlan si Rhoda.

¹³And when he had knocked at the door of the entry, a maid came to listen, by name Rhoda;

¹⁴Ug sa iyang hing-ilhan ang tingog ni Pedro, ang pultahan wala niya pag-ablihi tungod sa kalipay, kondili midalagan siya sa sulod ug gisugilon niya nga si Pedro anaa sa pultahan.

¹⁴and having recognised the voice of Peter, through joy did not open the entry, but running in, reported that Peter was standing before the entry.

¹⁵Ug sila miingon kaniya: Nabuang ka. Apan siya nagmatuod nga masaligon nga mao gayud si Pedro. Ug sila nanag-ingon: Manolonda niya kana.

¹⁵And they said to her, Thou art mad. But she maintained that it was so. And they said, It is his angel.

¹⁶Ug si Pedro nagpadayon sa pagtuktuk, ug sapag-abli nila, nakita nila siya ug nanghitingala sila.

¹⁶But Peter continued knocking: and having opened, they saw him and were astonished.

¹⁷Ug sa iyang gisinyasan sila sa kamot aron managhilum, iyang gisugilon kanila kong giunsa siya sa pagpagula sa Ginoo gikan sa bilanggoan, ug siya miingon: Isugilon ninyo kini kang Jacobo ug sa mga igsoon. Ug siya mipahawa, ug miadto sa laing dapit.

¹⁷And having made a sign to them with his hand to be silent, he related [to them] how the Lord had brought him out of prison; and he said, Report these things to James and to the brethren. And he went out and went to another place.

¹⁸Ug sa pagkabuntag na dili diyutay ang kagubot sa mga sundalo, tungod sa nahitabo kang Pedro.

¹⁸And when it was day there was no small disturbance among the soldiers, what then was become of Peter.

¹⁹Ug sa pagpangita ni Herodes, ug sa wala niya hikit-i siya, gisusi niya ang mga bantay, ug nagsugo nga silotan sila sa kamatayon. Ug milugsong siya gikan sa Judea padulong sa Cesarea, ug napabilin didto.

¹⁹And Herod having sought him and not found him, having examined the guards, commanded [them] to be executed. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea and stayed [there].

²⁰Ug si Herodes nayugot sa mga taga-Tiro ug sa mga taga-Sidon; apan miduol sila sa tingub kaniya, ug sa naabyan nila si Blasto nga maghihipos sa puloy-anan sa hari, nangayo ug pakigdait; kay ang ilang kayutaan gibuhi sa kayutaan sa hari.

²⁰And he was in bitter hostility with [the] Tyrians and Sidonians; but they came to him with one accord, and, having gained Blastus the king's chamberlain, sought peace, because their country was nourished by the king's.

²¹Ug sa usa ka adlaw nga gitagal, si Herodes misul-ob sa bisti nga harianon, ug milingkod siya sa trono sa hukmanan, ug naghatag pakigpulong kanila.

²¹And on a set day, clothed in royal apparel and sitting on the elevated seat [of honour], Herod made a public oration to them.

²²Ug ang katawohan nanagsinggit: Tingog sa Dios, ug dili iya sa tawo.

²²And the people cried out, A god's voice and not a man's.

²³Ug dihadiha gihampak siya sa usa ka manolonda sa Ginoo, tungod kay wala niya ihatag ang himaya sa Dios; ug gikaon siya sa mga ulod, ug gihunos ang iyang kinabuhi.

²³And immediately an angel of [the] Lord smote him, because he did not give the glory to God, and he expired, eaten of worms.

²⁴Apan ang pulong sa Dios mitubo ug misanay.

²⁴But the word of God grew and spread itself.

²⁵Ug si Bernabe ug si Saulo namauli gikan sa Jerusalem, sa natapus nila ang ilang ministerio: ug giuban usab nila si Juan, nga may bansagon nga Marcos.

²⁵And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, having fulfilled the service [entrusted to them], taking also with them John, surnamed Mark.
