¹He began to speak to them in parables. “A man planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a pit for the winepress, built a tower, rented it out to a farmer, and went into another country.

²Ug sa tingbunga gipaadtoan niya ug usa ka ulipon ang mga mag-uuma, aron siya makadawat gikan sa mga mag-uuma ug mga bunga sa parrasan.

² When it was time, he sent a servant to the farmer to get from the farmer his share of the fruit of the vineyard.

³ They took him, beat him, and sent him away empty.

⁵ Again he sent another; and they killed him; and many others, beating some, and killing some.

⁶ Therefore still having one, his beloved son, he sent him last to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

⁷ But those farmers said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’

⁸Ug ilang gidakup siya ug gipatay, ug gitambog nila sa gawas sa parrasan.

⁸ They took him, killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

⁹Busa, unsa ang pagabuhaton sa tag-iya sa parrasan? Moanhi ug pagalaglagon niya ang mga mag-uuma, ug igahatag ang parrasan sa uban.

⁹ What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the farmers, and will give the vineyard to others.

¹⁰Wala ba kamo makabasa bisan niini nga Kasulatan: Ang bato nga gisalikway sa mga magtutukod, kini nahimong bato sa pamag-ang;

¹⁰ Haven’t you even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner.

¹¹Kini nagagikan sa Ginoo, ug makapahibulong sa atong mga mata?

¹¹ This was from the Lord, it is marvelous in our eyes’?” Psalm 118:22-23

¹²Ug nanagpaninguha sila sa pagdakup kaniya; ug nangahadlok sila sa panon sa katawohan, kay gisabut nila nga siya nagsulti sa sambingay batok kanila; ug sila mibiya kaniya ug nanlakaw.

¹²They tried to seize him, but they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spoke the parable against them. They left him, and went away.

¹³Ug sila nagpadala ngadto kaniya ug pila sa mga Fariseo ug sa mga Herodianhon, aron sa ilang pakigsulti mabitik siya.

¹³They sent some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians to him, that they might trap him with words.

¹⁴Ug sa nanagpangabut sila, miingon kaniya: Magtutudlo, hingbaloan namo nga ikaw maminatud-on, ug nga ikaw walay pagtagad bisan kang kinsa; kay wala mo pagatan-awa ang pamayhon sa mga tawo, kondili sa pagkamatuod, ikaw nagatudlo sa dalan sa Dios. Uyon ba sa Kasugoan ang paghatag ug buhis kang Cesar, kun dili?

¹⁴When they had come, they asked him, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and don’t defer to anyone; for you aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?

¹⁵Mohatag ba kami, kun dili mohatag? Apan siya, sa hingbaloan niya ang ilang pagkasalingkapaw, miingon kanila: Nganong ginatintal ninyo ako? Dad-i ninyo ako ug usa ka denario aron akong makita.

¹⁵Shall we give, or shall we not give?” But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, “Why do you test me? Bring me a denarius, that I may see it.”

¹⁶Ug ilang gidad-an siya. Ug siya nag-ingon kanila: Kang kinsa kining dagway ug kining sinulat? Ug sila nanag-ingon kaniya: Kang Cesar.

¹⁶They brought it. He said to them, “Whose is this image and inscription?” They said to him, “Caesar’s.”

¹⁷Ug si Jesus miingon kanila: Magbayad kamo kang Cesar sa iya ni Cesar; ug sa Dios, sa iya sa Dios. Ug nanghibulong sila pag-ayo kaniya.

¹⁷Jesus answered them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” They marveled greatly at him.

¹⁸Ug miduol kaniya ang mga Saduceo nga nagaingon nga walay pagkabanhaw; ug sila nanagpangutana kaniya nga nagaingon:

¹⁸There came to him Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection. They asked him, saying,

¹⁹Magtutudlo, gisulat ni Moises kanamo: Kong mamatay ang igsoon nga lalake ni bisan kinsa, ug mahabilin ang iyang asawa ug walay anak, pangasaw-on sa iyang igsoon ang asawa niya, ug magabangon sa kaliwatan sa iyang igsoon.

¹⁹“Teacher, Moses wrote to us, ‘If a man’s brother dies, and leaves a wife behind him, and leaves no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.’

²⁰May pito ka managsoon nga lalake; ug ang panganay nangasawa, ug namatay sa wala makabilin ug liwat.

²⁰There were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and dying left no offspring.

²¹Ug ang ikaduha nangasawa kaniya ug namatay, ug siya wala usab makabilin ug liwat; ug ang ikatolo sa mao usab nga kaagi.

²¹The second took her, and died, leaving no children behind him. The third likewise;

²²and the seven took her and left no children. Last of all the woman also died.

²³Sa pagkabanhaw, kinsa kanila ang makaasawa kaniya? Kay ang pito nakabaton kaniya ingon nga asawa.

²³In the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be of them? For the seven had her as a wife.”

²⁴Si Jesus miingon kanila: Dili ba maoy hinungdan sa inyong pagkasayup ang wala ninyo paghibalo sa mga Kasulatan, bisan sa gahum sa Dios?

²⁴Jesus answered them, “Isn’t this because you are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God?

²⁵Kay kong sila mangabanhaw sa mga minatay, dili sila makapangasawa, bisan makapamana, kondili ingon sila sa mga manolonda sa langit.

²⁵ For when they will rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

²⁶Apan mahitungod sa mga nangamatay nga sila pagabanhawon, Wala ba ninyo hibasahi sa basahon ni Moises kong unsa ang gisulti kaniya sa Dios sa sapinit nga nagaingon: Ako mao ang Dios ni Abraham, ug ang Dios ni Isaac, ug ang Dios ni Jacob?

²⁶ But about the dead, that they are raised; haven’t you read in the book of Moses, about the Bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’ Exodus 3:6 ?

²⁷ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are therefore badly mistaken.”

²⁸Ug miduol ang usa sa mga escriba ug nakadungog sa ilang panaglantugi, ug sa ilang pagkahibalo nga maayo ang iyang pagtubag kanila, nangutana kaniya: Unsang sugoa ang una sa tanan?

²⁸One of the scribes came, and heard them questioning together. Knowing that he had answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the greatest of all?”

²⁹Si Jesus mitubag: Ang nahauna sa tanang sugo mao: Magpatalinghug ka, Israel, ang Ginoo nga atong Dios, ang Ginoo usa lamang;

²⁹Jesus answered, “The greatest is, ‘Hear, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one:

³⁰Ug higugmaon mo ang Ginoo nga imong Dios sa bug-os mong kasingkasing, ug sa bug-os mong kalag, ug sa bug-os mong hunahuna, ug sa bug-os mong kusog. Kini mao ang nahaunang sugo.

³⁰ you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Deuteronomy 6:4-5 This is the first commandment.

³¹Ang ikaduha mao kini: Higugmaon mo ang imong isigkatawo sama sa imong kaugalingon. Walay laing sugo nga labaw pa kay niini kanila.

³¹ The second is like this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Leviticus 19:18 There is no other commandment greater than these.”

³²Ug miingon kaniya ang escriba: Magtutudlo, sa pagkamatuod, matarung ang imong giingon nga siya usara, ug walay lain gawas kaniya.

³²The scribe said to him, “Truly, teacher, you have said well that he is one, and there is none other but he,

³³Ug ang paghigugma kaniya sa bug-os nga kasingkasing, ug sa bug-os nga hunahuna, ug sa bug-os nga kalag, ug sa bug-os nga kusog; ug ang paghigugma sa isigkatawo sama sa iyang kaugalingon, labaw pa kay sa tanan tibook nga halad nga sinunog ug mga halad.

³³and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

³⁴Ug sa pagkakita ni Jesus nga mitubag siya nga maalamon, siya miingon kaniya: Dili ikaw halayo sa gingharian sa Dios. Ug sukad niadto wala nay bisan kinsa nga nangahas sa pagpangutana kaniya.

³⁴When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” No one dared ask him any question after that.

³⁵Ug si Jesus mitubag ug miingon, sa diha nga nagpanudlo siya sa templo: Nganong nagaingon ang mga escriba, nga si Cristo mao ang anak ni David?

³⁵Jesus responded, as he taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David?

³⁶Si David, sa iyang kaugalingon miingon pinaagi sa Espiritu Santo: ang Ginoo nag-ingon sa akong Ginoo: Lumingkod ka sa akong too hangtud nga ikabutang ko ang imong mga kaaway nga tumbanan sa imong mga tiil.

³⁶ For David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.”’ Psalm 110:1

³⁷Si David, sa iyang kaugalingon, nagangalan kaniya nga Ginoo; ug sa unsa nga naanak niya? Ug ang panon sa katawohan sa mga tawo nagapatalinghug kaniya nga malipayon.

³⁷ Therefore David himself calls him Lord, so how can he be his son?” The common people heard him gladly.

³⁸Ug sa iyang pagtudlo, miingon siya: Magmatngon kamo sa mga escriba nga mahigugmang maglakaw sinul-ob ang bisting tag-as, ug sa mga pag-abiabi sa mga baligyaanan,

³⁸In his teaching he said to them, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, and to get greetings in the marketplaces,

³⁹Ug sa nahaunang lingkoranan sa mga sinagoga, ug sa mga nahaunang lingkoranan sa mga kombira;

³⁹ and the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts:

⁴⁰Sila nga nagalamoy sa mga balay sa mga balo nga babaye, ug sa usa ka pasangil nagabuhat ug tag-as nga mga pangadyeon; kini sila magadawat ug labing daku nga pagkahinukman sa silot.

⁴⁰ those who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”

⁴¹Ug milingkod si Jesus sa atbang sa panudlanan sa salapi, ug nagatan-aw siya kong giunsa sa panon sa katawohan paghulog ug salapi sa panudlanan, ug daghan sa mga dato nga nagahulog ug daghan.

⁴¹Jesus sat down opposite the treasury, and saw how the multitude cast money into the treasury. Many who were rich cast in much.

⁴²Ug may miabut nga usa ka kabus nga babayeng balo, ug mihulog ug duha ka lepta nga mao ang usa ka cuadrante.

⁴²A poor widow came, and she cast in two small brass coins, literally, lepta (or widow’s mites). Lepta are very small brass coins worth half a quadrans each, which is a quarter of the copper assarion. Lepta are worth less than 1% of an agricultural worker’s daily wages. which equal a quadrans coin. A quadrans is a coin worth about 1/64 of a denarius. A denarius is about one day’s wages for an agricultural laborer.

⁴³Ug iyang gitawag kaniya ang mga tinon-an, ug miingon kanila: Sa pagka-matuod nagaingon ako kaninyo, kining kabus nga babayeng balo mihulog ug labaw pa niadtong tanan nga nanaghulog sa panudlanan.

⁴³He called his disciples to himself, and said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, this poor widow gave more than all those who are giving into the treasury,

⁴⁴Kay silang tanan naghulog sa kapin sa ilang kahimtang, apan kini, sa iyang kawalad-on mihulog sa tanang diha kaniya hangtud ngani ang iyang panginabuhi.

⁴⁴ for they all gave out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, gave all that she had to live on.”
