1Job progovori i reče:
1And Job answered and said,
2"TÓa dokle ćete mučit' dušu moju, dokle ćete me riječima satirat'?
2How long will ye vex my soul, and crush me with words?
3Već deseti put pogrdiste mene i stid vas nije što me zlostavljate.
3These ten times have ye reproached me; ye are not ashamed to stupefy me.
4Pa ako sam zastranio doista, na meni moja zabluda ostaje.
4And be it [that] I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
5Mislite li da ste me nadjačali i krivnju moju da ste dokazali?
5If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and prove against me my reproach,
6Znajte: Bog je to mene pritisnuo i svojom me je on stegnuo mrežom.
6Know now that +God hath overthrown me, and hath surrounded me with his net.
7Vičem: 'Nasilje!' - nema odgovora; vapijem - ali za me pravde nema.
7Behold, I cry out of wrong, and I am not heard; I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
8Sa svih strana put mi je zagradio, sve staze moje u tminu zavio.
8He hath hedged up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
9Slavu je moju sa mene skinuo, sa moje glave strgnuo je krunu.
9He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
10Podsijeca me odasvud te nestajem; k'o drvo, nadu mi je iščupao.
10He breaketh me down on every side, and I am gone; and my hope hath he torn up as a tree.
11Raspalio se gnjev njegov na mene i svojim me drži neprijateljem.
11And he hath kindled his anger against me, and hath counted me unto him as one of his enemies.
12U bojnom redu pristižu mu čete, putove proti meni nasipaju, odasvud moj opkoljavaju šator.
12His troops have come together and cast up their way against me, and have encamped round about my tent.
13Od mene su se udaljila braća, otuđili se moji poznanici.
13He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are quite estranged from me.
14Nestade bližnjih mojih i znanaca, gosti doma mog zaboraviše me.
14My kinsfolk have failed, and my known friends have forgotten me.
15Sluškinjama sam svojim kao stranac, neznanac sam u njihovim očima.
15The sojourners in my house and my maids count me as a stranger; I am an alien in their sight.
16Slugu zovnem, a on ne odgovara i za milost ga moram zaklinjati.
16I called my servant, and he answered not; I entreated him with my mouth.
17Mojoj je ženi dah moj omrznuo, gadim se djeci vlastite utrobe.
17My breath is strange to my wife, and my entreaties to the children of my [mother's] womb.
18I deranima na prezir tek služim, ako se dignem, rugaju se meni.
18Even young children despise me; I rise up, and they speak against me.
19Pouzdanicima sam svojim mrzak, protiv mene su oni koje ljubljah.
19All my intimate friends abhor me, and they whom I loved are turned against me.
20Kosti mi se za kožu prilijepiše, osta mi jedva koža oko zuba.
20My bones cleave to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
21Smilujte mi se, prijatelji moji, jer Božja me je ruka udarila.
21Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, ye my friends; for the hand of +God hath touched me.
22Zašto da me k'o Bog sam progonite, zar se niste moga nasitili mesa?
22Why do ye persecute me as ùGod, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
23O, kad bi se riječi moje zapisale i kad bi se u mjed tvrdu urezale;
23Oh would that my words were written! oh that they were inscribed in a book!
24kad bi se željeznim dlijetom i olovom u spomen vječan u stijenu uklesale!
24That with an iron style and lead they were graven in the rock for ever!
25Ja znadem dobro: moj Izbavitelj živi i posljednji će on nad zemljom ustati.
25And [as for] me, I know that my Redeemer liveth, and the Last, he shall stand upon the earth;
26A kad se probudim, k sebi će me dići: iz svoje ću puti tad vidjeti Boga.
26And [if] after my skin this shall be destroyed, yet from out of my flesh shall I see +God;
27Njega ja ću kao svojega gledati, i očima mojim neće biti stranac: za njime srce mi čezne u grudima.
27Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another: -- my reins are consumed within me.
28Kad kažete: 'Kako ćemo ga goniti? Koji ćemo razlog protiv njega naći?',
28If ye say, How shall we persecute him? when the root of the matter is found in me,
29mača tad se bojte: grijehu mač je kazna. Saznat ćete tada da imade suda!"
29Be ye yourselves afraid of the sword! for the sword is fury against misdeeds, that ye may know there is a judgment.
