1Elihu nastavi svoju besjedu i reče:
1Moreover Elihu answered and said,
2"Zar ti misliš da pravo svoje braniš, da pravednost pred Bogom dokazuješ,
2Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than ùGod's?
3kada mu kažeš: 'Što ti je to važno, i ako griješim, što ti činim time?'
3For thou hast asked of what profit it is unto thee: what do I gain more than if I had sinned?
4Na sve to ja ću odgovorit' tebi i prijateljima tvojim ujedno.
4I will reply to thee in words, and to thy companions with thee.
5Po nebu se obazri i promatraj! Gledaj oblake: od tebe su viši!
5Look unto the heavens and see; and survey the skies: they are higher than thou.
6Ako griješiš, što si mu uradio, prijestupom svojim što si mu zadao?
6If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7Ako si prav, što si dodao njemu i što iz ruke tvoje on dobiva?
7If thou be righteous, what givest thou to him? or what doth he receive of thy hand?
8Opakost tvoja tebi slične pogađa i pravda tvoja čovjeku koristi.
8Thy wickedness [may affect] a man as thou [art], and thy righteousness a son of man.
9Ali kad ispod teškog stenju jarma, kad vapiju na nasilje moćnika,
9By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry; they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty:
10nitko ne kaže: 'Gdje je Bog, moj tvorac, koji noć pjesmom veselom ispunja,
10But none saith, Where is +God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night,
11umnijim nas od zvijeri zemskih čini i mudrijima od ptica nebeskih?'
11Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowl of the heavens?
12Tad vapiju, al' on ne odgovara poradi oholosti zlikovaca.
12There they cry, and he answereth not, because of the pride of evil men.
13Ali kako je isprazno tvrditi da Bog njihove ne čuje vapaje, da pogled na njih ne svraća Svesilni!
13Surely ùGod will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14A kamoli tek kada ti govoriš: 'On ne vidi mene, parnica moja pred njime stoji, a ja na nj još čekam.'
14Although thou sayest thou dost not see him, judgment is before him, therefore wait for him.
15Ili: 'Njegova srdžba ne kažnjava, nimalo on za prijestupe ne mari.'
15But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, doth not [Job] know [his] great arrogancy?
16Isprazno tada otvara Job usta i besjede gomila nerazumne."
16For Job hath opened his mouth in vanity, and made words abundant without knowledge.
