¹A odpovídaje Job, řekl:

¹Then Job answered,

²Komu jsi napomohl? Tomu-li, kterýž nemá síly? Toho-lis retoval, kterýž jest bez moci?

²“How have you helped him who is without power! How have you saved the arm that has no strength!

³Komu jsi rady udělil? Nemoudrému-li? Hned jsi základu dostatečně poučil?

³How have you counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge!

⁴Komužs ty řeči zvěstoval? A čí duch vyšel z tebe?

⁴To whom have you uttered words? Whose spirit came forth from you?

⁵Však i mrtvé věci pod vodami a obyvateli jejich sformovány bývají.

⁵“Those who are deceased tremble, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.

⁶Odkryta jest propast před ním, i zahynutí není zakryto.

⁶ Sheol Sheol is the lower world or the grave. is naked before God, and Abaddon Abaddon means Destroyer. has no covering.

⁷Ontě roztáhl půlnoční stranu nad prázdnem, zavěsil zemi na ničemž.

⁷He stretches out the north over empty space, and hangs the earth on nothing.

⁸Zavazuje vody v oblacích svých, aniž se trhá oblak pod nimi.

⁸He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not burst under them.

⁹On sám zdržuje stále trůn svůj, a roztahuje na něm oblaky své.

⁹He encloses the face of his throne, and spreads his cloud on it.

¹⁰Cíl vyměřil rozlévání se vodám, až do skonání světla a tmy.

¹⁰He has described a boundary on the surface of the waters, and to the confines of light and darkness.

¹¹Sloupové nebeští třesou se a pohybují od žehrání jeho.

¹¹The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his rebuke.

¹²Mocí svou rozdělil moře, a rozumností svou dutí jeho.

¹²He stirs up the sea with his power, and by his understanding he strikes through Rahab.

¹³Duchem svým nebesa ozdobil, a ruka jeho sformovala hada dlouhého.

¹³By his Spirit the heavens are garnished. His hand has pierced the swift serpent.

¹⁴Aj, toť jsou jen částky cest jeho, a jak nestižitelné jest i to maličko, což jsme slyšeli o něm. Hřímání pak moci jeho kdo srozumí?

¹⁴Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways. How small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?”
