1Ještě mluvil Elihu, a řekl:
1Moreover Elihu answered,
2Poslouchejte, moudří, řečí mých, a rozumní, ušima pozorujte.
2“Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
3Nebo ucho řečí zkušuje, tak jako dásně okoušejí pokrmu.
3For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.
4Soud sobě zvolme, a vyhledejme mezi sebou, co by bylo dobrého.
4Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know among ourselves what is good.
5Nebo řekl Job: Spravedliv jsem, a Bůh silný zavrhl při mou.
5For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right:
6Své-liž bych pře ukrývati měl? Přeplněna jest bolestí rána má bez provinění.
6Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’
7Který muž jest podobný Jobovi, ješto by pil posměch jako vodu?
7What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,
8A že by všel v tovaryšství s činiteli nepravosti, a chodil by s lidmi nešlechetnými?
8Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?
9Nebo řekl: Neprospívá to člověku líbiti se Bohu.
9For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’
10A protož, muži rozumní, poslouchejte mne. Odstup od Boha silného nešlechetnost a od Všemohoucího nepravost.
10“Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11Nebo on podlé skutků člověka odplací, a podlé toho, jaká jest čí cesta, působí, aby to nalézal.
11For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12A naprosto Bůh silný nečiní nic nešlechetně, a Všemohoucí nepřevrací soudu.
12Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
13Kdo svěřil jemu zemi? A kdo zpořádal všecken okršlek?
13Who put him in charge of the earth? or who has appointed him over the whole world?
14Kdyby se na něj obrátil, a ducha jeho i duši jeho k sobě vzal,
14If he set his heart on himself, If he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
15Umřelo by všeliké tělo pojednou, a tak by člověk do prachu se navrátil.
15all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
16Máš-li tedy rozum, poslyš toho, pusť v uši své hlas řečí mých.
16“If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.
17Ješto ten, kterýž by v nenávisti měl soud, zdaliž by panovati mohl? Čili toho, jenž jest svrchovaně spravedlivý, za nešlechetného vyhlásíš?
17Shall even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty?—
18Zdaliž sluší králi říci: Ó nešlechetný, a šlechticům: Ó bezbožní?
18Who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?
19Mnohem méně tomu, kterýž nepřijímá osob knížat, aniž u něho má přednost urozený před nuzným; nebo dílo rukou jeho jsou všickni.
19Who doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.
20V okamžení umírají, třebas o půl noci postrčeni bývají lidé, a pomíjejí, a zachvácen bývá silný ne rukou lidskou.
20In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
21Nebo oči jeho hledí na cesty člověka, a všecky kroky jeho on spatřuje.
21“For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.
22Neníť žádných temností, ani stínu smrti, kdež by se skryli činitelé nepravosti.
22There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23Aniž zajisté vzkládá na koho více, tak aby se s Bohem silným souditi mohl.
23For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgment.
24Pyšné stírá bez počtu, a postavuje jiné na místa jejich.
24He breaks in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
25Nebo zná skutky jejich; pročež na ně obrací noc, a potříni bývají.
25Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26Jakožto bezbožné rozráží je na místě patrném,
26He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27Proto že odstoupili od něho, a žádných cest jeho nešetřili,
27because they turned aside from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,
28Aby dokázal, že připouští k sobě křik nuzného, a volání chudých že vyslýchá.
28so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.
29(Nebo když on spokojí, kdo znepokojí? A když skryje tvář svou, kdo jej spatří?)Tak celý národ, jako i každého člověka jednostejně,
29When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Alike whether to a nation, or to a man,
30Aby nekraloval člověk pokrytý, aby nebylo lidem ourazu.
30that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
31Jistě žeť k Bohu silnému raději toto mluveno býti má: Ponesuť, nezruším.
31“For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.
32Mimo to, nevidím-li čeho, ty vyuč mne; jestliže jsem nepravost páchal, neučiním toho víc.
32Teach me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?
33Nebo zdali vedlé tvého zdání odplacovati má, že bys ty toho neliboval, že bys ono zvoloval, a ne on? Pakli co víš jiného, mluv.
33Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.
34Muži rozumní se mnou řeknou, i každý moudrý poslouchaje mne,
34Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:
35Že Job hloupě mluví, a slova jeho nejsou rozumná.
35‘Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’
36Ó by zkušen byl Job dokonale, pro odmlouvání nám jako lidem nepravým,
36I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
37Poněvadž k hříchu svému přidává i nešlechetnost, mezi námi také jen chloubu svou vynáší, a rozmnožuje řeči své proti Bohu.
37For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God.”
