1Zatím přidal Elihu, a řekl:
1Elihu also continued, and said,
2Postrp mne maličko, a oznámímť šíře; neboť mám ještě, co bych za Boha mluvil.
2“Bear with me a little, and I will show you; for I still have something to say on God’s behalf.
3Vynesu smysl svůj zdaleka, a stvořiteli svému přivlastním spravedlnost.
3I will get my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
4V pravdě, žeť nebudou lživé řeči mé; zdravě smýšlejícího máš mne s sebou.
4For truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.
5Aj, Bůh silný mocný jest, aniž svých zamítá; silný jest, a srdce udatného.
5“Behold, God is mighty, and doesn’t despise anyone. He is mighty in strength of understanding.
6Neobživuje bezbožného, chudým pak k soudu dopomáhá.
6He doesn’t preserve the life of the wicked, but gives to the afflicted their right.
7Neodvrací od spravedlivého očí svých, nýbrž s králi na stolici sází je na věky, i bývají zvýšeni.
7He doesn’t withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne, he sets them forever, and they are exalted.
8Pakli by poutami sevříni byli, zapleteni jsouce provazy ssoužení:
8If they are bound in fetters, and are taken in the cords of afflictions,
9Tudy jim v známost uvodí hřích jejich, a že přestoupení jejich se ssilila.
9then he shows them their work, and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.
10A tak otvírá sluch jejich, aby se napravili, anobrž mluví jim, aby se navrátili od nepravosti.
10He also opens their ears to instruction, and commands that they return from iniquity.
11Uposlechnou-li a budou-li jemu sloužiti, stráví dny své v dobrém, a léta svá v potěšení.
11If they listen and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12Pakli neuposlechnou, od meče sejdou, a pozdychají bez umění.
12But if they don’t listen, they shall perish by the sword; they shall die without knowledge.
13Nebo kteříž jsou nečistého srdce, přivětšují hněvu, aniž k němu volají, když by je ssoužil.
13“But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They don’t cry for help when he binds them.
14Protož umírá v mladosti duše jejich, a život jejich s smilníky.
14They die in youth. Their life perishes among the unclean.
15Vytrhuje, pravím, ssouženého z jeho ssoužení, a ty, jejichž sluch otvírá, v trápení.
15He delivers the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear in oppression.
16A tak by i tebe přenesl z prostředku úzkosti na širokost, kdež není stěsnění, a byl by pokojný stůl tvůj tukem oplývající.
16Yes, he would have allured you out of distress, into a broad place, where there is no restriction. That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.
17Ale ty zasloužils, abys jako bezbožný souzen byl; soud a právo na tě dochází.
17“But you are full of the judgment of the wicked. Judgment and justice take hold of you.
18Jistě strach, aby tě neuvrhl Bůh u větší ránu, tak že by jakkoli veliká výplaty mzda, tebe nevyprostila.
18Don’t let riches entice you to wrath, neither let the great size of a bribe turn you aside.
19Zdaliž by sobě co vážil bohatství tvého? Jistě ani nejvýbornějšího zlata, ani jakékoli síly neb moci tvé.
19Would your wealth sustain you in distress, or all the might of your strength?
20Nechvátejž tedy k noci, v kterouž odcházejí lidé na místo své.
20Don’t desire the night, when people are cut off in their place.
21Hleď, abys se neohlédal na marnost, zvoluje ji raději, nežli ssoužení.
21Take heed, don’t regard iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.
22Aj, Bůh silný nejvyšší jest mocí svou. Kdo jemu podobný učitel?
22Behold, God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?
23Kdo jemu vyměřil cestu jeho? Kdo jemu smí říci: Činíš nepravost?
23Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness?’
24Pamětliv buď raději, abys vyvyšoval dílo jeho, kteréž spatřují lidé,
24“Remember that you magnify his work, whereof men have sung.
25Kteréž, pravím, všickni lidé vidí, na něž člověk patří zdaleka.
25All men have looked thereon. Man sees it afar off.
26Nebo Bůh silný tak jest veliký, že ho nemůžeme poznati, počet let jeho jest nevystižitelný.
26Behold, God is great, and we don’t know him. The number of his years is unsearchable.
27On zajisté vyvodí krůpěje vod, kteréž vylévají déšť z oblaků jeho,
27For he draws up the drops of water, which distill in rain from his vapor,
28Když se rozpouštějí oblakové, a kropí na mnohé lidi.
28Which the skies pour down and which drop on man abundantly.
29(Anobrž vyrozumí-li kdo roztažení oblaků, a zvuku stánku jeho,
29Yes, can any understand the spreading of the clouds, and the thunderings of his pavilion?
30Jak rozprostírá nad ním světlo své, aneb všecko moře přikrývá?
30Behold, he spreads his light around him. He covers the bottom of the sea.
31Skrze ty věci zajisté tresce lidi, a též dává pokrmu hojnost.
31For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.
32Oblaky zakrývá světlo, a přikazuje mu ukrývati se za to, co je potkává.)
32He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.
33Ohlašuje o něm zvuk jeho, též dobytek, a to hned, když pára zhůru vstupuje. [ (Job 36:34) Takéť se i nad tím děsí srdce mé, až se pohybuje z místa svého. ]
33Its noise tells about him, and the livestock also concerning the storm that comes up.
