¹Oslavujte Hospodina, nebo jest dobrý, nebo na věky milosrdenství jeho.

¹Give thanks to Yahweh, “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.

²Nechť o tom vypravují ti, kteříž jsou vykoupeni skrze Hospodina, jak je on vykoupil z ruky těch, kteříž je ssužovali,

²Let the redeemed by Yahweh say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,

³A shromáždil je z zemí, od východu a od západu, od půlnoci i od moře.

³And gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

⁴Bloudili po poušti, po cestách pustých, města k přebývání nenacházejíce.

⁴They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way. They found no city to live in.

⁵Hladovití a žízniví byli, až v nich svadla duše jejich.

⁵Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

⁶Když volali k Hospodinu v ssoužení svém, z úzkostí jejich vytrhl je,

⁶Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses,

⁷A vedl je po cestě přímé, aby přišli do města k bydlení.

⁷he led them also by a straight way, that they might go to a city to live in.

⁸Nechať oslavují před Hospodinem milosrdenství jeho, a divné skutky jeho před syny lidskými,

⁸Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works to the children of men!

⁹Poněvadž napájí duši žíznivou, a duši hladovitou naplňuje dobrými věcmi.

⁹For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good.

¹⁰Kteříž sedí ve tmě a v stínu smrti, sevříni jsouce bídou i železy,

¹⁰Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,

¹¹Protože odporni byli řečem Boha silného, a radou Nejvyššího pohrdli.

¹¹because they rebelled against the words of God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” , and condemned the counsel of the Most High.

¹²Pročež ponížil bídou srdce jejich, padli, a nebylo pomocníka.

¹²Therefore he brought down their heart with labor. They fell down, and there was none to help.

¹³Když volají k Hospodinu v ssoužení svém, z úzkostí je vysvobozuje.

¹³Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

¹⁴Vyvodí je z temností a stínu smrti, a svazky jejich trhá.

¹⁴He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds in sunder.

¹⁵Nechať oslavují před Hospodinem milosrdenství jeho, a divné skutky jeho před syny lidskými,

¹⁵Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works to the children of men!

¹⁶Poněvadž láme brány měděné, a závory železné posekává.

¹⁶For he has broken the gates of brass, and cut through bars of iron.

¹⁷Blázni pro cestu převrácenosti své, a pro nepravosti své v trápení bývají.

¹⁷Fools are afflicted because of their disobedience, and because of their iniquities.

¹⁸Oškliví se jim všeliký pokrm, až se i k branám smrti přibližují.

¹⁸Their soul abhors all kinds of food. They draw near to the gates of death.

¹⁹Když volají k Hospodinu v ssoužení svém, z úzkostí jejich je vysvobozuje.

¹⁹Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, he saves them out of their distresses.

²⁰Posílá slovo své, a uzdravuje je, a vysvobozuje je z hrobu.

²⁰He sends his word, and heals them, and delivers them from their graves.

²¹Nechať oslavují před Hospodinem milosrdenství jeho, a divné skutky jeho před syny lidskými,

²¹Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works to the children of men!

²²A obětujíce oběti chvály, ať vypravují skutky jeho s prozpěvováním.

²²Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with singing.

²³Kteří se plaví po moři na lodech, pracujíce na velikých vodách,

²³Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business in great waters;

²⁴Tiť vídají skutky Hospodinovy, a divy jeho v hlubokosti.

²⁴These see Yahweh’s works, and his wonders in the deep.

²⁵Jakž jen dí, hned se strhne vítr bouřlivý, a dme vlny mořské.

²⁵For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.

²⁶Vznášejí se k nebi, sstupují do propasti, duše jejich v nebezpečenství rozplývá se.

²⁶They mount up to the sky; they go down again to the depths. Their soul melts away because of trouble.

²⁷Motají se a nakloňují jako opilý, a všecko umění jejich mizí.

²⁷They reel back and forth, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end.

²⁸Když volají k Hospodinu v ssoužení svém, z úzkostí jejich je vysvobozuje.

²⁸Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress.

²⁹Proměňuje bouři v utišení, tak že umlkne vlnobití jejich.

²⁹He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.

³⁰I veselí se, že utichlo; a tak přivodí je k břehu žádostivému.

³⁰Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven.

³¹Nechať oslavují před Hospodinem milosrdenství jeho, a divné skutky jeho před syny lidskými.

³¹Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works for the children of men!

³²Nechť ho vyvyšují v shromáždění lidu, a v radě starců chválí jej.

³²Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the seat of the elders.

³³Obrací řeky v poušť, a prameny vod v suchost,

³³He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground,

³⁴Zemi úrodnou v slatinnou, pro zlost obyvatelů jejích.

³⁴and a fruitful land into a salt waste, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

³⁵Pustiny obrací v jezera, a zemi vyprahlou v prameny vod.

³⁵He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs.

³⁶I osazuje na ní hladovité, aby stavěli města k bydlení.

³⁶There he makes the hungry live, that they may prepare a city to live in,

³⁷Kteříž osívají pole, a dělají vinice, a shromažďují sobě užitek úrody.

³⁷sow fields, plant vineyards, and reap the fruits of increase.

³⁸Takť on jim žehná, že se rozmnožují velmi, a dobytka jejich neumenšuje.

³⁸He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly. He doesn’t allow their livestock to decrease.

³⁹A někdy pak umenšeni a sníženi bývají ukrutenstvím, bídou a truchlostí,

³⁹Again, they are diminished and bowed down through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.

⁴⁰Když vylévá pohrdání na knížata, dopouštěje, aby bloudili po poušti bezcestné.

⁴⁰He pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.

⁴¹Onť vyzdvihuje nuzného z trápení, a rozmnožuje rodinu jako stádo.

⁴¹Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock.

⁴²Nechť to spatřují upřímí, a rozveselí se, ale všeliká nepravost ať zacpá ústa svá.

⁴²The upright will see it, and be glad. All the wicked will shut their mouths.

⁴³Ale kdo jest tak moudrý, aby toho šetřil, a vyrozumíval mnohému milosrdenství Hospodinovu?

⁴³Whoever is wise will pay attention to these things. They will consider the loving kindnesses of Yahweh.
