¹Což tedy díme? Snad zůstaneme v hříchu, aby se milost rozhojnila?

¹What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

²Nikoli. Kteříž jsme zemřeli hříchu, kterakž ještě živi budeme v něm?

²May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?

³Zdaliž nevíte, že kteřížkoli pokřtěni jsme v Krista Ježíše, v smrt jeho pokřtěni jsme?

³Or don’t you know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

⁴Pohřbeni jsme tedy s ním skrze křest v smrt, abychom, jakož z mrtvých vstal Kristus k slávě Otce, tak i my v novotě života chodili.

⁴We were buried therefore with him through baptism to death, that just like Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

⁵Nebo poněvadž jsme v něj vštípeni připodobněním smrti jeho, tedy i vzkříšením jemu připodobněni budeme,

⁵For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection;

⁶To vědouce, že starý člověk náš s ním spolu ukřižován jest, aby bylo umrtveno tělo hřícha, abychom již potom nesloužili hříchu.

⁶knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.

⁷Nebo kdožť umřel, ospravedlněn jest od hříchu.

⁷For he who has died has been freed from sin.

⁸Jestližeť jsme pak zemřeli s Kristem, věřímeť, že spolu s ním také živi budeme,

⁸But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him;

⁹Vědouce, že Kristus vstav z mrtvých, již více neumírá, smrt nad ním již více nepanuje.

⁹knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no more has dominion over him!

¹⁰Nebo že jest umřel, hříchu umřel jednou; že pak jest živ, živ jest Bohu.

¹⁰For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God.

¹¹Tak i vy za to mějte, že jste zemřeli zajisté hříchu, ale živi jste Bohu v Kristu Ježíši, Pánu našem.

¹¹Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹²Nepanujž tedy hřích v smrtelném těle vašem, tak abyste povolovali jemu v žádostech jeho.

¹²Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

¹³Aniž vydávejte údů svých za odění nepravosti kterémukoli hříchu, ale vydávejte se k sloužení Bohu, jakožto vstavše z mrtvých a jsouce živi, a údy své vydávejte za odění spravedlnosti Bohu.

¹³Neither present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

¹⁴Nebo hřích nebude panovati nad vámi; nejste zajisté pod Zákonem, ale pod milostí.

¹⁴For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.

¹⁵Což tedy? Hřešiti budeme, když nejsme pod Zákonem, ale pod milostí? Nikoli.

¹⁵What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? May it never be!

¹⁶Zdaliž nevíte, že komuž se vydáváte za služebníky ku poslušenství, toho jste služebníci, kohož posloucháte, buďto hříchu k smrti, buďto poslušenství k spravedlnosti?

¹⁶Don’t you know that to whom you present yourselves as servants to obedience, his servants you are whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?

¹⁷Ale díka Bohu, že byvše služebníci hřícha, uposlechli jste z srdce způsobu učení toho, v kteréž uvedeni jste.

¹⁷But thanks be to God, that, whereas you were bondservants of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto you were delivered.

¹⁸Vysvobozeni jsouce pak od hříchu, učiněni jste služebníci spravedlnosti.

¹⁸Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of righteousness.

¹⁹Po lidsku pravím, pro mdlobu těla vašeho: Jakž jste vydávali údy vaše v službu nečistotě a nepravosti k tomu, abyste činili nepravost, tak již nyní vydávejte údy vaše v službu spravedlnosti ku posvěcení.

¹⁹I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh, for as you presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness upon wickedness, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness for sanctification.

²⁰Nebo když jste byli služebníci hřícha, cizí jste byli od spravedlnosti.

²⁰For when you were servants of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

²¹Jaký jste pak užitek měli tehdáž toho, začež se nyní stydíte? Konec zajisté těch věcí jest smrt.

²¹What fruit then did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

²²Nyní pak vysvobozeni jsouce od hříchu a podmaněni v službu Bohu, máte užitek váš ku posvěcení, cíl pak život věčný.

²²But now, being made free from sin, and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification, and the result of eternal life.

²³Nebo odplata za hřích jest smrt, ale milost Boží jest život věčný v Kristu Ježíši, Pánu našem.

²³For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
