¹ Yn yr un modd, chwi wragedd priod, byddwch ddarostyngedig i'ch gwu375?r; ac yna, os oes rhai sy'n anufudd i'r gair, fe'u henillir hwy trwy ymarweddiad eu gwragedd, heb i chwi ddweud yr un gair,

¹Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

² wedi iddynt weld eich ymarweddiad pur a duwiolfrydig.

²While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

³ Boed ichwi'n addurn, nid pethau allanol fel plethu gwallt, ymdaclu � thlysau aur, ymharddu � gwisgoedd,

³Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

⁴ ond cymeriad c�l y galon a'i degwch di-dranc, sef ysbryd addfwyn a thawel. Dyna sy'n werthfawr yng ngolwg Duw.

⁴But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

⁵ Oherwydd felly hefyd y byddai'r gwragedd sanctaidd gynt, a oedd yn gobeithio yn Nuw, yn eu haddurno eu hunain; byddent yn ymddarostwng i'w gwu375?r,

⁵For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

⁶ fel yr ufuddhaodd Sara i Abraham a'i alw'n arglwydd. A phlant iddi hi ydych chwi, os daliwch ati i wneud daioni, heb ofni dim oll.

⁶Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

⁷ Yn yr un modd, chwi wu375?r, byddwch yn ystyriol yn eich bywyd priodasol; rhowch y parch dyladwy i'r wraig, gan mai hi yw'r llestr gwannaf, a chan eich bod yn gydetifeddion y gras sy'n rhoi bywyd. Felly, ni chaiff eich gwedd�au mo'u rhwystro.

⁷Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

⁸ Yn olaf, bawb ohonoch, byddwch o'r un meddwl yn cydymdeimlo �'ch gilydd yn frawdol, yn dyner eich calon, yn ostyngedig eich ysbryd.

⁸Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

⁹ Peidiwch � thalu drwg am ddrwg na sen am sen. I'r gwrthwyneb, bendithiwch! Oherwydd i hyn y cawsoch eich galw � er mwyn i chwi etifeddu bendith.

⁹Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

¹⁰ Yng ngeiriau'r Ysgrythur: "Yr hwn sy'n ewyllysio caru bywyd a gweld dyddiau da, rhaid iddo atal ei dafod rhag drwg, a'i wefusau rhag llefaru celwydd;

¹⁰For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

¹¹ rhaid iddo droi oddi wrth ddrwg a gwneud da, ceisio heddwch a'i ddilyn;

¹¹Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

¹² canys y mae llygaid yr Arglwydd ar y cyfiawn, a'i glustiau'n agored i'w deisyfiad, ond y mae wyneb yr Arglwydd yn erbyn y rhai sy'n gwneud drygioni."

¹²For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

¹³ Felly, pwy a wna niwed ichwi os byddwch yn selog tros ddaioni?

¹³And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

¹⁴ Ond hyd yn oed pe digwyddai ichwi ddioddef o achos cyfiawnder, gwyn eich byd! Peidiwch �'u hofni hwy, a pheidiwch � chymryd eich tarfu,

¹⁴But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

¹⁵ ond sancteiddiwch Grist yn Arglwydd yn eich calonnau. Byddwch yn barod bob amser i roi ateb i bob un fydd yn ceisio gennych gyfrif am y gobaith sydd ynoch. Ond gwnewch hynny gydag addfwynder a pharchedig ofn,

¹⁵But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

¹⁶ gan gadw eich cydwybod yn l�n; ac yna, lle'r ydych yn awr yn cael eich sarhau, fe godir cywilydd ar y rhai sy'n dilorni eich ymarweddiad da yng Nghrist.

¹⁶Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

¹⁷ Oherwydd gwell yw dioddef, os dyna ewyllys Duw, am wneud da nag am wneud drwg.

¹⁷For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

¹⁸ Oherwydd dioddefodd Crist yntau un waith am byth dros bechodau, y cyfiawn dros yr anghyfiawn, i'ch dwyn chwi at Dduw. Er ei roi i farwolaeth o ran y cnawd, fe'i gwnaed yn fyw o ran yr ysbryd,

¹⁸For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

¹⁹ ac felly yr aeth a chyhoeddi ei genadwri i'r ysbrydion yng ngharchar.

¹⁹By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

²⁰ Yr oedd y rheini wedi bod yn anufudd gynt, pan oedd Duw yn ei amynedd yn dal i ddisgwyl, yn nyddiau Noa ac adeiladu'r arch. Yn yr arch fe achubwyd ychydig, sef wyth enaid, trwy ddu373?r,

²⁰Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

²¹ ac y mae'r hyn sy'n cyfateb i hynny, sef bedydd, yn eich achub chwi yn awr, nid fel modd i fwrw ymaith fudreddi'r cnawd, ond fel ernes o gydwybod dda tuag at Dduw, trwy atgyfodiad Iesu Grist.

²¹The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

²² Y mae ef, ar �l mynd i mewn i'r nef, ar ddeheulaw Duw, a'r angylion a'r awdurdodau a'r galluoedd wedi eu darostwng iddo.

²²Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
