1 Paid ag ymffrostio ynglu375?n ag yfory, oherwydd ni wyddost beth a ddigwydd mewn diwrnod.
1Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
2 Gad i ddieithryn dy ganmol, ac nid dy enau dy hun; un sy'n estron, ac nid dy wefusau dy hun.
2Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
3 Y mae pwysau mewn carreg, a thywod yn drwm, ond y mae casineb y ffu373?l yn drymach na'r ddau.
3A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
4 Y mae dicter yn greulon, a digofaint fel llifeiriant, ond pwy a all sefyll o flaen cenfigen?
4Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
5 Y mae cerydd agored yn well na chariad a guddir.
5Open rebuke is better than secret love.
6 Y mae dyrnodiau cyfaill yn ddidwyll, ond cusanau gelyn yn dwyllodrus.
6Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
7 Y mae un wedi ei ddigoni yn gwrthod m�l, ond i'r newynog, melys yw popeth chwerw.
7The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
8 Fel aderyn yn crwydro o'i nyth, felly y mae rhywun sy'n crwydro o'i gynefin.
8As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
9 Y mae olew a phersawr yn llawenhau'r galon, a mwynder cyfaill yn cyfarwyddo'r enaid.
9Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
10 Paid � chefnu ar dy gyfaill a chyfaill dy rieni, a phaid � mynd i du375? dy frawd yn nydd dy adfyd. Y mae cyfaill agos yn well na brawd ymhell.
10Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
11 Fy mab, bydd ddoeth, a llawenha fy nghalon; yna gallaf roi ateb i'r rhai sy'n fy amharchu.
11My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
12 Y mae'r craff yn gweld perygl ac yn ei osgoi, ond y mae'r gwirion yn mynd rhagddo ac yn talu am hynny.
12A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
13 Cymer wisg y sawl sy'n mynd yn feichiau dros ddyn dieithr, a chadw hi'n ernes o'i addewid ar ran dieithryn.
13Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
14 Y mae'r un sy'n bendithio'i gyfaill � llef uchel, ac yn codi'n fore i wneud hynny, yn cael ei ystyried yn un sy'n ei felltithio.
14He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
15 Diferion parhaus ar ddiwrnod glawog, tebyg i hynny yw gwraig yn cecru;
15A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
16 y mae ei hatal fel ceisio atal y gwynt, neu fel un yn ceisio dal olew yn ei law.
16Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself.
17 Y mae haearn yn hogi haearn, ac y mae pob un hogi meddwl ei gyfaill.
17Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
18 Yr un sy'n gofalu am ffigysbren sy'n bwyta'i ffrwyth, a'r sawl sy'n gwylio tros ei feistr sy'n cael anrhydedd.
18Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
19 Fel yr adlewyrchir wyneb mewn du373?r, felly y mae'r galon yn ddrych o'r unigolyn.
19As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.
20 Ni ddigonir Sheol nac Abadon, ac ni ddiwellir llygaid neb ychwaith.
20Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
21 Y mae tawddlestr i'r arian, a ffwrnais i'r aur, felly y profir cymeriad gan ganmoliaeth.
21As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
22 Er iti bwyo'r ff�l � phestl mewn morter yn gymysg �'r grawn m�n, eto ni elli yrru ei ffolineb allan ohono.
22Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
23 Gofala'n gyson am dy braidd, a rho sylw manwl i'r ddiadell;
23Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
24 oherwydd nid yw cyfoeth yn para am byth, na choron o genhedlaeth i genhedlaeth.
24For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?
25 Ar �l cario'r gwair, ac i'r adladd ymddangos, a chasglu gwair y mynydd,
25The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
26 yna cei ddillad o'r u373?yn, a phris y tir o'r bychod geifr,
26The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
27 a bydd digon o laeth geifr yn ymborth i ti a'th deulu, ac yn gynhaliaeth i'th forynion.
27And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.
