1 Bu Sara fyw am gant dau ddeg a saith o flynyddoedd; dyna hyd ei hoes.
1And the life of Sarah is a hundred and twenty and seven years — years of the life of Sarah;
2 Bu farw Sara yn Ciriath-arba, hynny yw Hebron, yng ngwlad Canaan; ac aeth Abraham i alaru am Sara, ac wylodd amdani.
2and Sarah dieth in Kirjath-Arba, which [is] Hebron, in the land of Caanan, and Abraham goeth in to mourn for Sarah, and to bewail her.
3 Wedi hynny cododd Abraham o u373?ydd y marw, a dywedodd wrth yr Hethiaid,
3And Abraham riseth up from the presence of his dead, and speaketh unto the sons of Heth, saying,
4 "Dieithryn ac ymdeithydd wyf yn eich mysg; rhowch i mi hawl ar fedd yn eich plith, er mwyn imi gael claddu fy marw."
4`A sojourner and a settler I [am] with you; give to me a possession of a burying-place with you, and I bury my dead from before me.`
5 Atebodd yr Hethiaid Abraham, a dweud wrtho,
5And the sons of Heth answer Abraham, saying to him,
6 "Clyw ni, f'arglwydd; tywysog nerthol wyt ti yn ein plith. Cladda dy farw yn y gorau o'n beddau; ni wrthyd neb ohonom ei fedd iti i gladdu dy farw."
6`Hear us, my lord; a prince of God [art] thou in our midst; in the choice of our burying-places bury thy dead: none of us his burying-place doth withhold from thee, from burying thy dead.`
7 Yna cododd Abraham ac ymgrymu i'r Hethiaid, pobl y wlad,
7And Abraham riseth and boweth himself to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth,
8 a dweud wrthynt, "Os ydych yn fodlon imi gladdu fy marw, gwrandewch arnaf, a deisyfwch trosof ar Effron fab Sohar
8and he speaketh with them, saying, `If it is your desire to bury my dead from before me, hear me, and meet for me with Ephron, son of Zoar;
9 iddo roi imi ogof Machpela, sy'n eiddo iddo ac yng nghwr ei faes. Rhodded hi i mi am y pris llawn, imi gael hawl ar fedd yn eich plith."
9and he giveth to me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which [is] in the extremity of his field; for full money doth he give it to me, in your midst, for a possession of a burying-place.`
10 Yr oedd Effron yn eistedd gyda'r Hethiaid, a dywedodd wrth Abraham yng nghlyw'r Hethiaid a phawb oedd yn dod i mewn trwy borth ei ddinas,
10And Ephron is sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth, and Ephron the Hittite answereth Abraham in the ears of the sons of Heth, of all those entering the gate of his city, saying,
11 "Na, f'arglwydd, gwrando arnaf; rhof y maes i ti yn ogystal 'r ogof sydd ynddo; yr wyf yn ei rhoi i ti yng ngu373?ydd fy mhobl; cladda dy farw."
11`Nay, my lord, hear me: the field I have given to thee, and the cave that [is] in it, to thee I have given it; before the eyes of the sons of my people I have given it to thee — bury thy dead.`
12 Yna ymgrymodd Abraham o flaen pobl y wlad,
12And Abraham boweth himself before the people of the land,
13 a dywedodd wrth Effron yn eu clyw, "Os felly, gwrando arnaf; yr wyf am roi i ti bris y maes; cymer hyn gennyf, er mwyn imi gael claddu fy marw yno."
13and speaketh unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land, saying, `Only — if thou wouldst hear me — I have given the money of the field — accept from me, and I bury my dead there.`
14 Atebodd Effron Abraham a dweud wrtho,
14And Ephron answereth Abraham, saying to him,
15 "Gwrando arnaf, f'arglwydd; darn o dir gwerth pedwar can sicl o arian, beth yw hynny rhyngom ni? Cladda dy farw."
15`My lord, hear me: the land — four hundred shekels of silver; between me and thee, what [is] it? — thy dead bury.`
16 Cytunodd Abraham ag Effron, a phwysodd iddo yr arian a grybwyllodd yng nghlyw'r Hethiaid, pedwar can sicl o arian, yn l pwysau'r marchnatwyr.
16And Abraham hearkeneth unto Ephron, and Abraham weigheth to Ephron the silver which he hath spoken of in the ears of the sons of Heth, four hundred silver shekels, passing with the merchant.
17 Felly y sicrhawyd i Abraham, yng ngu373?ydd yr Hethiaid a phawb oedd yn dod i mewn trwy borth y ddinas, feddiant ar faes Effron yn Machpela, i'r dwyrain o Mamre. Cafodd ef y maes a'r ogof ynddo a phob coeden o fewn holl derfynau'r maes.
17And established are the field of Ephron, which [is] in Machpelah, which [is] before Mamre, the field and the cave which [is] in it, and all the trees which [are] in the field, which [are] in all its border round about,
18 {cf2 (23:17)}
18to Abraham by purchase, before the eyes of the sons of Heth, among all entering the gate of his city.
19 Wedi hynny, claddodd Abraham ei wraig Sara yn yr ogof ym maes Machpela, i'r dwyrain o Mamre, hynny yw Hebron, yng ngwlad Canaan.
19And after this hath Abraham buried Sarah his wife at the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (which [is] Hebron), in the land of Canaan;
20 Sicrhawyd gan yr Hethiaid y maes a'r ogof oedd ynddo yn gladdfa i Abraham.
20and established are the field, and the cave which [is] in it, to Abraham for a possession of a burying-place, from the sons of Heth.
