Genesis

39

1 Cymerwyd Joseff i lawr i'r Aifft, a phrynwyd ef o law yr Ismaeliaid, a oedd wedi mynd ag ef yno, gan Potiffar, Eifftiwr oedd yn swyddog i Pharo ac yn bennaeth y gwarchodwyr.
1And Joseph hath been brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, a eunuch of Pharaoh, head of the executioners, an Egyptian man, buyeth him out of the hands of the Ishmaelites who have brought him thither.
2 Bu'r ARGLWYDD gyda Joseff, a daeth yn u373?r llwyddiannus. Yr oedd yn byw yn nhu375? ei feistr yr Eifftiwr,
2And Jehovah is with Joseph, and he is a prosperous man, and he is in the house of his lord the Egyptian,
3 a gwelodd ei feistr fod yr ARGLWYDD gydag ef, a bod yr ARGLWYDD yn llwyddo popeth yr oedd yn ei wneud.
3and his lord seeth that Jehovah is with him, and all that he is doing Jehovah is causing to prosper in his hand,
4 Cafodd Joseff ffafr yn ei olwg, a bu'n gweini arno; gwnaeth yntau ef yn arolygydd ar ei du375? a rhoi ei holl eiddo dan ei ofal.
4and Joseph findeth grace in his eyes and serveth him, and he appointeth him over his house, and all that he hath he hath given into his hand.
5 Ac o'r amser y gwnaeth ef yn arolygydd ar ei du375? ac ar ei holl eiddo, bendithiodd yr ARGLWYDD du375?'r Eifftiwr er mwyn Joseff; yr oedd bendith yr ARGLWYDD ar ei holl eiddo, yn y tu375? ac yn y maes.
5And it cometh to pass from the time that he hath appointed him over his house, and over all that he hath, that Jehovah blesseth the house of the Egyptian for Joseph`s sake, and the blessing of Jehovah is on all that he hath, in the house, and in the field;
6 Gadawodd ei holl eiddo yng ngofal Joseff, ac nid oedd gofal arno am ddim ond y bwyd yr oedd yn ei fwyta. Yr oedd Joseff yn olygus a gln,
6and he leaveth all that he hath in the hand of Joseph, and he hath not known anything that he hath, except the bread which he is eating. And Joseph is of a fair form, and of a fair appearance.
7 ac ymhen amser rhoddodd gwraig ei feistr ei bryd ar Joseff a dweud, "Gorwedd gyda mi."
7And it cometh to pass after these things, that his lord`s wife lifteth up her eyes unto Joseph, and saith, `Lie with me;`
8 Ond gwrthododd, a dweud wrth wraig ei feistr, "Nid oes gofal ar fy meistr am ddim yn y tu375?; y mae wedi rhoi ei holl eiddo yn fy ngofal i.
8and he refuseth, and saith unto his lord`s wife, `Lo, my lord hath not known what [is] with me in the house, and all that he hath he hath given into my hand;
9 Nid oes neb yn fwy na mi yn y tu375? hwn, ac nid yw wedi cadw dim oddi wrthyf ond tydi, am mai ei wraig wyt. Sut felly y gwnawn i y drwg mawr hwn, a phechu yn erbyn Duw?"
9none is greater in this house than I, and he hath not withheld from me anything, except thee, because thou [art] his wife; and how shall I do this great evil? — then have I sinned against God.`
10 Ac er iddi grefu ar Joseff beunydd, ni wrandawodd arni; ni orweddodd gyda hi na chymdeithasu hi.
10And it cometh to pass at her speaking unto Joseph day [by] day, that he hath not hearkened unto her, to lie near her, to be with her;
11 Ond un diwrnod, pan aeth i'r tu375? ynglu375?n 'i waith, heb fod neb o weision y tu375? yno,
11and it cometh to pass about this day, that he goeth into the house to do his work, and there is none of the men of the house there in the house,
12 fe'i daliodd ef gerfydd ei wisg, a dweud, "Gorwedd gyda mi." Ond gadawodd ef ei wisg yn ei llaw a ffoi allan.
12and she catcheth him by his garment, saying, `Lie with me;` and he leaveth his garment in her hand, and fleeth, and goeth without.
13 Pan welodd hi ei fod wedi gadael ei wisg yn ei llaw, a ffoi allan,
13And it cometh to pass when she seeth that he hath left his garment in her hand, and fleeth without,
14 galwodd ar weision ei thu375? a dweud wrthynt, "Gwelwch, y mae wedi dod Hebrwr atom i'n gwaradwyddo; daeth ataf i orwedd gyda mi, a gwaeddais innau yn uchel.
14that she calleth for the men of her house, and speaketh to them, saying, `See, he hath brought in to us a man, a Hebrew, to play with us; he hath come in unto me, to lie with me, and I call with a loud voice,
15 Pan glywodd fi'n codi fy llais a gweiddi, gadawodd ei wisg yn f'ymyl a ffoi allan."
15and it cometh to pass, when he heareth that I have lifted up my voice and call, that he leaveth his garment near me, and fleeth, and goeth without.`
16 Yna cadwodd wisg Joseff yn ei hymyl nes i'w feistr ddod adref,
16And she placeth his garment near her, until the coming in of his lord unto his house.
17 ac adroddodd yr un stori wrtho ef, a dweud, "Daeth y gwas o Hebrwr, a ddygaist i'n plith, i mewn ataf i'm gwaradwyddo;
17And she speaketh unto him according to these words, saying, `The Hebrew servant whom thou hast brought unto us, hath come in unto me to play with me;
18 ond pan godais fy llais a gweiddi, gadawodd ei wisg yn f'ymyl a ffoi allan."
18and it cometh to pass, when I lift my voice and call, that he leaveth his garment near me, and fleeth without.`
19 Pan glywodd meistr Joseff ei wraig yn dweud wrtho am yr hyn a wnaeth ei was iddi, enynnodd ei lid.
19And it cometh to pass when his lord heareth the words of his wife, which she hath spoken unto him, saying, `According to these things hath thy servant done to me,` that his anger burneth;
20 Cymerodd Joseff a'i roi yn y carchar, lle'r oedd carcharorion y brenin yn gaeth; ac yno y bu yn y carchar.
20and Joseph`s lord taketh him, and putteth him unto the round-house, a place where the king`s prisoners [are] bound; and he is there in the round-house.
21 Ond yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD gyda Joseff, a bu'n drugarog wrtho a rhoi ffafr iddo yng ngolwg ceidwad y carchar.
21And Jehovah is with Joseph, and stretcheth out kindness unto him, and putteth his grace in the eyes of the chief of the round-house;
22 Rhoes ceidwad y carchar yr holl garcharorion yng ngofal Joseff, ac ef fyddai'n gwneud beth bynnag oedd i'w wneud yno.
22and the chief of the round-house giveth into the hand of Joseph all the prisoners who [are] in the round-house, and of all that they are doing there, he hath been doer;
23 Nid oedd ceidwad y carchar yn pryderu am ddim a oedd dan ofal Joseff, am fod yr ARGLWYDD gydag ef ac yn ei lwyddo ym mha beth bynnag y byddai'n ei wneud.
23the chief of the round-house seeth not anything under his hand, because Jehovah [is] with him, and that which he is doing Jehovah is causing to prosper.
