¹ Cyfarfu'r Melchisedec hwn, brenin Salem, offeiriad i'r Duw Goruchaf, ag Abraham wrth iddo ddychwelyd o daro'r brenhinoedd, a bendithiodd ef;

¹For this Melchisedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who did meet Abraham turning back from the smiting of the kings, and did bless him,

² a rhannodd Abraham iddo yntau ddegwm o'r cwbl. Yn gyntaf, ystyr ei enw ef yw "brenin cyfiawnder"; ac yna, y mae'n frenin Salem, hynny yw, "brenin tangnefedd".

²to whom also a tenth of all did Abraham divide, (first, indeed, being interpreted, `King of righteousness,` and then also, King of Salem, which is, King of Peace,)

³ Ac yntau heb dad, heb fam, a heb achau, nid oes iddo na dechrau dyddiau na diwedd einioes; ond, wedi ei wneud yn gyffelyb i Fab Duw, y mae'n aros yn offeiriad am byth.

³without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, and being made like to the Son of God, doth remain a priest continually.

⁴ Ystyriwch pa mor fawr oedd y gu373?r hwn y rhoddwyd iddo ddegwm o'r anrhaith gan Abraham y patriarch.

⁴And see how great this one [is], to whom also a tenth Abraham the patriarch did give out of the best of the spoils,

⁵ Yn awr, y mae'r rheini o blith disgynyddion Lefi sy'n cymryd swydd offeiriad dan orchymyn yn �l y Gyfraith i gymryd degwm gan y bobl, hynny yw, eu cyd-genedl, er mai disgynyddion Abraham ydynt.

⁵and those, indeed, out of the sons of Levi receiving the priesthood, a command have to take tithes from the people according to the law, that is, their brethren, even though they came forth out of the loins of Abraham;

⁶ Ond y mae hwn, er nad yw o'u llinach hwy, wedi cymryd degwm gan Abraham ac wedi bendithio'r hwn y mae'r addewidion ganddo.

⁶and he who was not reckoned by genealogy of them, received tithes from Abraham, and him having the promises he hath blessed,

⁷ A heb ddadl o gwbl, y lleiaf sy'n cael ei fendithio gan y mwyaf.

⁷and apart from all controversy, the less by the better is blessed —

⁸ Yn y naill achos, rhai meidrol sydd yn derbyn degwm, ond yn y llall, un y tystiolaethir amdano ei fod yn aros yn fyw.

⁸and here, indeed, men who die do receive tithes, and there [he], who is testified to that he was living,

⁹ Gellir dweud hyd yn oed fod Lefi, derbyniwr y degwm, yntau wedi talu degwm drwy Abraham,

⁹and so to speak, through Abraham even Levi who is receiving tithes, hath paid tithes,

¹⁰ oblegid yr oedd ef eisoes yn llwynau ei gyndad pan gyfarfu Melchisedec � hwnnw.

¹⁰for he was yet in the loins of the father when Melchisedek met him.

¹¹ Os oedd perffeithrwydd i'w gael, felly, trwy'r offeiriadaeth Lefiticaidd � oblegid ar sail honno y rhoddwyd y Gyfraith i'r bobl � pa angen pellach oedd i s�n am offeiriad arall yn codi, yn �l urdd Melchisedec ac nid yn �l urdd Aaron?

¹¹If indeed, then, perfection were through the Levitical priesthood — for the people under it had received law — what further need, according to the order of Melchisedek, for another priest to arise, and not to be called according to the order of Aaron?

¹² Oblegid os yw'r offeiriadaeth yn cael ei newid, rhaid bod y Gyfraith hefyd yn cael ei newid.

¹²for the priesthood being changed, of necessity also, of the law a change doth come,

¹³ Oherwydd y mae'r un y dywedir y pethau hyn amdano yn perthyn i lwyth arall, nad oes yr un aelod ohono wedi gweini wrth yr allor;

¹³for he of whom these things are said in another tribe hath had part, of whom no one gave attendance at the altar,

¹⁴ ac y mae'n gwbl hysbys fod ein Harglwydd ni yn hanu o lwyth Jwda, llwyth na ddywedodd Moses ddim am offeiriad mewn perthynas ag ef.

¹⁴for [it is] evident that out of Judah hath arisen our Lord, in regard to which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

¹⁵ Y mae'r ddadl yn eglurach fyth os ar ddull Melchisedec y bydd yr offeiriad arall yn codi,

¹⁵And it is yet more abundantly most evident, if according to the similitude of Melchisedek there doth arise another priest,

¹⁶ a'i offeiriadaeth yn dibynnu, nid ar gyfraith sydd �'i gorchymyn yn ymwneud �'r cnawd ond ar nerth bywyd annistryw.

¹⁶who came not according to the law of a fleshly command, but according to the power of an endless life,

¹⁷ Oherwydd tystir amdano: "Yr wyt ti'n offeiriad am byth yn �l urdd Melchisedec."

¹⁷for He doth testify — `Thou [art] a priest — to the age, according to the order of Melchisedek;`

¹⁸ Felly, y mae yma ddiddymu ar y gorchymyn blaenorol, am ei fod yn wan ac anfuddiol.

¹⁸for a disannulling indeed doth come of the command going before because of its weakness, and unprofitableness,

¹⁹ Oherwydd nid yw'r Gyfraith wedi dod � dim i berffeithrwydd. Ond yn awr cyflwynwyd i ni obaith rhagorach yr ydym drwyddo yn nes�u at Dduw.

¹⁹(for nothing did the law perfect) and the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw nigh to God.

²⁰ Yn awr, ni ddigwyddodd hyn heb i Dduw dyngu llw.

²⁰And inasmuch as [it is] not apart from oath, (for those indeed apart from oath are become priests,

²¹ Daeth y lleill, yn wir, yn offeiriaid heb i lw gael ei dyngu; ond daeth hwn trwy lw yr Un a ddywedodd wrtho: "Tyngodd yr Arglwydd, ac nid �'n �l ar ei air: 'Yr wyt ti'n offeiriad am byth.'"

²¹and he with an oath through Him who is saying unto him, `The Lord sware, and will not repent, Thou [art] a priest — to the age, according to the order of Melchisedek;`)

²² Yn gymaint � hynny, felly, y mae Iesu wedi dod yn feichiau cyfamod rhagorach.

²²by so much of a better covenant hath Jesus become surety,

²³ Y mae'r lleill a ddaeth yn offeiriaid yn lluosog hefyd, am fod angau yn eu rhwystro i barhau yn eu swydd;

²³and those indeed are many who have become priests, because by death they are hindered from remaining;

²⁴ ond y mae gan hwn, am ei fod yn aros am byth, offeiriadaeth na throsglwyddir mohoni.

²⁴and he, because of his remaining — to the age, hath the priesthood not transient,

²⁵ Dyna pam y mae ef hefyd yn gallu achub hyd yr eithaf y rhai sy'n agos�u at Dduw trwyddo ef, gan ei fod yn fyw bob amser i eiriol drostynt.

²⁵whence also he is able to save to the very end, those coming through him unto God — ever living to make intercession for them.

²⁶ Dyma'r math o archoffeiriad sy'n addas i ni, un sanctaidd, di-fai, dihalog, wedi ei ddidoli oddi wrth bechaduriaid, ac wedi ei ddyrchafu yn uwch na'r nefoedd;

²⁶For such a chief priest did become us — kind, harmless, undefiled, separate from the sinners, and become higher than the heavens,

²⁷ un nad oes rhaid iddo yn feunyddiol, fel yr archoffeiriaid, offrymu aberthau yn gyntaf dros ei bechodau ei hun, ac yna dros rai'r bobl. Oblegid fe wnaeth ef hyn un waith am byth pan fu iddo'i offrymu ei hun.

²⁷who hath no necessity daily, as the chief priests, first for his own sins to offer up sacrifice, then for those of the people; for this he did once, having offered up himself;

²⁸ Oherwydd y mae'r Gyfraith yn penodi yn archoffeiriaid ddynion sy'n weiniaid, ond y mae geiriau'r llw, sy'n ddiweddarach na'r Gyfraith, yn penodi Mab sydd wedi ei berffeithio am byth.

²⁸for the law doth appoint men chief priests, having infirmity, but the word of the oath that [is] after the law [appointeth] the Son — to the age having been perfected.
