¹ Onid wyf fi'n rhydd? Onid wyf yn apostol? Onid wyf wedi gweld Iesu, ein Harglwydd? Onid fy ngwaith i ydych chwi yn yr Arglwydd?

¹Am I not free? am I not an apostle? have I not seen Jesus our Lord? are not *ye* my work in [the] Lord?

² Os nad wyf yn apostol i eraill, o leiaf yr wyf felly i chwi; oherwydd chwi yw s�l fy apostolaeth, yn yr Arglwydd.

²If I am not an apostle to others, yet at any rate I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are *ye* in [the] Lord.

³ Fy amddiffyniad i'r rhai sy'n eistedd mewn barn arnaf yw hyn:

³My defence to those who examine me is this:

⁴ onid oes gennym hawl i fwyta ac yfed?

⁴Have we not a right to eat and to drink?

⁵ Onid oes gennym hawl i fynd � gwraig sy'n Gristion o gwmpas gyda ni, fel y gwna'r apostolion eraill, a brodyr yr Arglwydd, a Ceffas?

⁵have we not a right to take round a sister [as] wife, as also the other apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

⁶ Neu ai myfi a Barnabas yn unig sydd heb yr hawl i beidio � gweithio i ennill ein bywoliaeth?

⁶Or *I* alone and Barnabas, have we not a right not to work?

⁷ Pwy fyddai byth yn rhoi gwasanaeth milwr ar ei draul ei hun? Pwy sy'n plannu gwinllan heb fwyta o'r ffrwyth? Pwy sy'n bugeilio praidd heb yfed o'r llaeth?

⁷Who ever carries on war at his own charges? who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? or who herds a flock and does not eat of the milk of the flock?

⁸ Ai ar awdurdod dynol yr wyf yn dweud hyn? Onid yw'r Gyfraith hefyd yn ei ddweud?

⁸Do I speak these things as a man, or does not the law also say these things?

⁹ Oherwydd yng Nghyfraith Moses y mae'n ysgrifenedig: "Nid wyt i roi genfa am safn ych tra bydd yn dyrnu." Ai am ychen y mae gofal Duw?

⁹For in the law of Moses it is written, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that is treading out corn. Is God occupied about the oxen,

¹⁰ Onid yw'n eglur mai er ein mwyn ni y mae'n ei ddweud? Ie, er ein mwyn ni yr ysgrifennwyd ef, oherwydd dylai'r arddwr aredig, a'r dyrnwr ddyrnu, mewn gobaith am gael cyfran o'r cnwd.

¹⁰or does he say [it] altogether for our sakes? For for our sakes it has been written, that the plougher should plough in hope, and he that treads out corn, in hope of partaking of [it].

¹¹ Os ydym ni wedi hau had ysbrydol er eich lles chwi, a yw'n ormod inni fedi cnwd materol ar eich traul chwi?

¹¹If we have sown to you spiritual things, [is it a] great [thing] if *we* shall reap your carnal things?

¹² Os oes gan eraill ran yn yr hawl hon arnoch, oni ddylem ni fod � mwy? Ond nid ydym wedi arfer yr hawl hon; yn hytrach, yr ydym yn goddef pob peth, rhag inni osod unrhyw rwystr ar ffordd Efengyl Crist.

¹²If others partake of this right over you, should not rather *we*? But we have not used this right, but we bear all things, that we may put no hindrance in the way of the glad tidings of the Christ.

¹³ Oni wyddoch fod y sawl sy'n cyflawni gwasanaethau'r deml yn cael eu bwyd o'r deml, a bod y rhai sy'n gweini wrth yr allor yn cael eu cyfran o aberthau'r allor?

¹³Do ye not know that they who labour [at] sacred things eat of the [offerings offered in the] temple; they that attend at the altar partake with the altar?

¹⁴ Yn yr un modd hefyd, rhoddodd yr Arglwydd orchymyn i'r rhai sy'n cyhoeddi'r Efengyl, eu bod i fyw ar draul yr Efengyl.

¹⁴So also the Lord has ordained to those that announce the glad tidings to live of the glad tidings.

¹⁵ Ond nid wyf fi wedi manteisio ar ddim o'r hawliau hyn. Ac nid er mwyn cael dim o'r fath i mi fy hun yr wyf yn ysgrifennu hyn. Byddai'n well gennyf farw na hynny. Ni chaiff neb droi fy ymffrost yn wagedd.

¹⁵But *I* have used none of these things. Now I have not written these things that it should be thus in my case; for [it were] good for me rather to die than that any one should make vain my boast.

¹⁶ Oherwydd os wyf yn pregethu'r Efengyl, nid yw hynny'n achos ymffrost i mi, gan fod rheidrwydd wedi ei osod arnaf. Gwae fi os na phregethaf yr Efengyl!

¹⁶For if I announce the glad tidings, I have nothing to boast of; for a necessity is laid upon me; for it is woe to me if I should not announce the glad tidings.

¹⁷ Os o'm gwirfodd yr wyf yn gwneud hyn, y mae imi d�l; ond os o'm hanfodd, yr wyf yn gwneud gorchwyl sydd wedi ei ymddiried imi.

¹⁷For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if not of my own will, I am entrusted with an administration.

¹⁸ Beth, felly, yw fy nh�l? Hyn ydyw: fy mod, wrth bregethu'r Efengyl, yn ei chyflwyno am ddim, heb fanteisio o gwbl ar fy hawl yn yr Efengyl.

¹⁸What is the reward then that I have? That in announcing the glad tidings I make the glad tidings costless [to others], so as not to have made use, as belonging to me, of my right in [announcing] the glad tidings.

¹⁹ Oherwydd, er fy mod yn rhydd oddi wrth bawb, yr wyf wedi fy ngwneud fy hun yn gaethwas i bawb, er mwyn ennill rhagor ohonynt.

¹⁹For being free from all, I have made myself bondman to all, that I might gain the most [possible].

²⁰ I'r Iddewon, euthum fel Iddew, er mwyn ennill Iddewon. I'r rhai sydd dan y Gyfraith, fel un ohonynt hwy � er nad wyf fy hunan dan y Gyfraith � er mwyn ennill y rhai sydd dan y Gyfraith.

²⁰And I became to the Jews as a Jew, in order that I might gain the Jews: to those under law, as under law, not being myself under law, in order that I might gain those under law:

²¹ I'r rhai sydd heb y Gyfraith, fel un ohonynt hwythau � er nad wyf heb Gyfraith Duw, gan fy mod dan Gyfraith Crist � er mwyn ennill y rhai sydd heb y Gyfraith.

²¹to those without law, as without law, (not as without law to God, but as legitimately subject to Christ,) in order that I might gain [those] without law.

²² I'r gweiniaid, euthum yn wan, er mwyn ennill y gweiniaid. Yr wyf wedi mynd yn bob peth i bawb, er mwyn imi, mewn rhyw fodd neu'i gilydd, achub rhai.

²²I became to the weak, [as] weak, in order that I might gain the weak. To all I have become all things, in order that at all events I might save some.

²³ Dros yr Efengyl yr wyf yn gwneud pob peth, er mwyn i mi gael cydgyfranogi ynddi.

²³And I do all things for the sake of the glad tidings, that I may be fellow-partaker with them.

²⁴ Oni wyddoch am y rhai sy'n rhedeg mewn ras, eu bod i gyd yn rhedeg, ond mai un sy'n derbyn y wobr? Felly, rhedwch i ennill.

²⁴Know ye not that they who run in [the] race-course run all, but one receives the prize? Thus run in order that ye may obtain.

²⁵ Y mae pob mabolgampwr yn arfer hunanreolaeth ym mhopeth; y maent hwy, yn wir, yn gwneud hynny er mwyn ennill torch lygradwy, ond y mae i ni un sy'n anllygradwy.

²⁵But every one that contends [for a prize] is temperate in all things: *they* then indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown, but *we* an incorruptible.

²⁶ Yr wyf fi, gan hynny, yn rhedeg fel un sydd �'r nod yn sicr o'i flaen. Yr wyf yn cwffio, nid fel un sy'n curo'r awyr �'i ddyrnau.

²⁶*I* therefore thus run, as not uncertainly; so I combat, as not beating the air.

²⁷ Yr wyf yn cernodio fy nghorff, ac yn ei gaethiwo, rhag i mi, sydd wedi pregethu i eraill, fy nghael fy hun yn wrthodedig.

²⁷But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest [after] having preached to others I should be myself rejected.
