1 Ynglu375?n �'r amseroedd a'r prydiau, gyfeillion, nid oes arnoch angen i neb ysgrifennu atoch.
1But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that ye should be written to,
2 Oherwydd yr ydych yn gwybod yn iawn mai fel lleidr yn y nos y daw Dydd yr Arglwydd.
2for ye know perfectly well yourselves, that the day of [the] Lord so comes as a thief by night.
3 Pan fydd pobl yn dweud, "Dyma dangnefedd a diogelwch", dyna'r pryd y daw dinistr disymwth ar eu gwarthaf fel gwewyr esgor ar wraig feichiog, ac ni fydd dim dianc iddynt.
3When they may say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon her that is with child; and they shall in no wise escape.
4 Ond nid ydych chwi, gyfeillion, mewn tywyllwch, i'r Dydd eich goddiweddyd fel lleidr;
4But *ye*, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief:
5 pobl y goleuni, pobl y dydd, ydych chwi oll. Nid ydym yn perthyn i'r nos nac i'r tywyllwch.
5for all *ye* are sons of light and sons of day; we are not of night nor of darkness.
6 Am hynny, rhaid inni beidio � chysgu, fel y rhelyw, ond bod yn effro a sobr.
6So then do not let us sleep as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober;
7 Y rhai sydd yn cysgu, yn y nos y maent yn cysgu, a'r rhai sydd yn meddwi, yn y nos y maent yn meddwi.
7for they that sleep sleep by night, and they that drink drink by night;
8 Ond gan ein bod ni'n perthyn i'r dydd, gadewch inni fod yn sobr, gan wisgo amdanom ffydd a chariad yn ddwyfronneg, a gobaith iachawdwriaeth yn helm.
8but *we* being of [the] day, let us be sober, putting on [the] breastplate of faith and love, and as helmet [the] hope of salvation;
9 Oherwydd nid i ddigofaint y penododd Duw ni, ond i feddu iachawdwriaeth drwy ein Harglwydd Iesu Grist,
9because God has not set us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 yr hwn a fu farw drosom, er mwyn inni gael byw gydag ef, prun bynnag ai yn effro ai yn cysgu y byddwn.
10who has died for us, that whether we may be watching or sleep, we may live together with him.
11 Am hynny, calonogwch eich gilydd, ac adeiladwch bob un ei gilydd � fel, yn wir, yr ydych yn gwneud.
11Wherefore encourage one another, and build up each one the other, even as also ye do.
12 Yr ydym yn gofyn ichwi, gyfeillion, barchu'r rhai sydd yn llafurio yn eich plith, yn arweinwyr arnoch yn yr Arglwydd, ac yn eich cynghori,
12But we beg you, brethren, to know those who labour among you, and take the lead among you in [the] Lord, and admonish you,
13 a synio'n uchel iawn amdanynt mewn cariad, ar gyfrif eu gwaith. Byddwch yn heddychlon yn eich plith eich hunain.
13and to regard them exceedingly in love on account of their work. Be in peace among yourselves.
14 Ac yr ydym yn eich annog, gyfeillion, ceryddwch y segurwyr, cysurwch y gwangalon, cynorthwywch y rhai eiddil, byddwch yn amyneddgar wrth bawb.
14But we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, sustain the weak, be patient towards all.
15 Gwyliwch na fydd neb yn talu drwg am ddrwg i neb, ond ceisiwch bob amser les eich gilydd a lles pawb.
15See that no one render to any evil for evil, but pursue always what is good towards one another and towards all;
16 Llawenhewch bob amser.
16rejoice always;
17 Gwedd�wch yn ddi-baid.
17pray unceasingly;
18 Ym mhob dim rhowch ddiolch, oherwydd hyn yw ewyllys Duw yng Nghrist Iesu i chwi.
18in everything give thanks, for this is [the] will of God in Christ Jesus towards you;
19 Peidiwch � diffodd yr Ysbryd;
19quench not the Spirit;
20 peidiwch � dirmygu proffwyd-oliaethau.
20do not lightly esteem prophecies;
21 Ond rhowch brawf ar bob peth, a glynwch wrth yr hyn sydd dda.
21but prove all things, hold fast the right;
22 Ymgadwch rhag pob math o ddrygioni.
22hold aloof from every form of wickedness.
23 Bydded i Dduw'r tangnefedd ei hun eich sancteiddio chwi yn gyfan gwbl, a chadw eich ysbryd a'ch enaid a'ch corff yn gwbl iach a di-fai hyd ddyfodiad ein Harglwydd Iesu Grist!
23Now the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly: and your whole spirit, and soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Y mae'r hwn sy'n eich galw yn ffyddlon, ac fe gyflawna ef hyn.
24He [is] faithful who calls you, who will also perform [it].
25 Gyfeillion, gwedd�wch drosom ninnau.
25Brethren, pray for us.
26 Cyfarchwch y cyfeillion i gyd � chusan sanctaidd.
26Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27 Yn enw'r Arglwydd, parwch ddarllen y llythyr hwn i'r holl gynulleidfa.
27I adjure you by the Lord that the letter be read to all the [holy] brethren.
28 Gras ein Harglwydd Iesu Grist fyddo gyda chwi!
28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you.
