Darby's Translation

2 Samuel

4

1 Pan glywodd mab Saul fod Abner wedi marw yn Hebron, digalonnodd, ac yr oedd Israel gyfan mewn dryswch.
1And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were enfeebled, and all Israel was troubled.
2 Yr oedd gan fab Saul ddau ddyn yn benaethiaid ar finteioedd; Baana oedd enw un a Rechab oedd enw'r llall. Meibion i Rimmon o Beeroth oeddent, ac aelodau o lwyth Benjamin.
2And Saul's son had two men, captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin; for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.
3 Ystyrid bod Beeroth yn perthyn i Benjamin, er bod trigolion Beeroth wedi ffoi i Gittaim ac wedi aros yno hyd heddiw fel dyfodiaid.
3And the Beerothites had fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.
4 Yr oedd mab gan Jonathan fab Saul oedd yn gloff yn ei draed. Pum mlwydd oed ydoedd pan ddaeth y newydd o Jesreel am Saul a Jonathan; cododd ei famaeth ef a ffoi, ond wrth iddi frysio i ffoi, fe syrthiodd ef a chael ei gloffi. Meffiboseth oedd ei enw.
4And Jonathan Saul's son had a son that was lame of [his] feet. He was five years old when the news came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jizreel; and his nurse took him up and fled. And it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
5 Aeth Rechab a Baana, meibion Rimmon o Beeroth, i du375? Isboseth yng ngwres y dydd, tra oedd ef yn gorffwys ganol dydd.
5And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went and came in about the heat of the day into the house of Ishbosheth, who was taking his noonday rest.
6 Yr oedd y wraig a oedd yn cadw drws y tu375? wedi bod yn glanhau gwenith, ond yr oedd wedi hepian a chysgu, a llithrodd Rechab a'i frawd heibio iddi.
6And they came thither into the midst of the house, [as though] they would fetch wheat; and they smote him in the belly; and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
7 Pan ddaethant i'r tu375?, yr oedd ef yn gorwedd ar ei wely yn ei ystafell gysgu, a thrawsant ef yn farw a thorri ei ben i ffwrdd, ac yna cymryd ei ben a mynd drwy'r nos ar hyd ffordd yr Araba.
7They came into the house, as he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him; and they took his head, and went by the way of the plain all night.
8 Daethant phen Isboseth at Ddafydd i Hebron, a dweud wrth y brenin, "Dyma ben Isboseth, mab Saul, dy elyn oedd yn ceisio dy fywyd. Rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD ddial heddiw i'n harglwydd frenin ar Saul a'i blant."
8And they brought the head of Ishbosheth to David in Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, thine enemy who sought thy life; and Jehovah has given to my lord the king to be avenged this day of Saul and of his seed.
9 Ond atebodd Dafydd Rechab a'i frawd Baana, meibion Rimmon o Beeroth, a dweud, "Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD, a'm gwaredodd o bob cyfyngdra, yn fyw,
9Then David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, [As] Jehovah liveth, who has redeemed my soul out of all distress,
10 pan ddaeth un i'm hysbysu fod Saul wedi marw, gan dybio'i fod yn dwyn newydd da, fe gydiais ynddo a'i ladd yn Siclag; dyna a roddais i hwnnw am ei newyddion!
10when one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead! and he was in his own sight a messenger of good, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag -- to whom forsooth I should give a reward for his good tidings:
11 Pa faint mwy pan fo dynion drwg wedi lladd dyn cyfiawn yn ei gartref, ar ei wely? Oni fyddaf yn awr yn ceisio iawn am ei waed oddi ar eich llaw chwi, a'ch difa oddi ar y ddaear?"
11how much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? and should I not now demand his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
12 Rhoddodd Dafydd orchymyn i'w lanciau, a lladdasant hwy, a thorri eu dwylo a'u traed i ffwrdd, a'u crogi wrth y pwll yn Hebron. Yna cymerwyd pen Isboseth a'i gladdu ym meddrod Abner yn Hebron.
12And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged [them] up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
