Darby's Translation

2 Samuel

5

1 Daeth holl lwythau Israel at Ddafydd i Hebron a dweud wrtho, "Edrych, dy asgwrn a'th gnawd di ydym ni.
1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2 Gynt, pan oedd Saul yn frenin arnom, ti oedd yn arwain Israel allan i ryfel ac yn l wedyn; ac fe ddywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyt, 'Ti sydd i fugeilio fy mhobl Israel; ti sydd i fod yn dywysog Israel'."
2Even aforetime, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel; and Jehovah said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.
3 Yna daeth holl henuriaid Israel i Hebron at y brenin, a gwnaeth y Brenin Dafydd gyfamod hwy yn Hebron gerbron yr ARGLWYDD, ac eneiniwyd Dafydd yn frenin ar Israel.
3And all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah; and they anointed David king over Israel.
4 Deng mlwydd ar hugain oed oedd Dafydd pan ddaeth yn frenin, a theyrnasodd am ddeugain mlynedd.
4David was thirty years old when he began to reign; he reigned forty years.
5 Yn Hebron teyrnasodd dros Jwda am saith mlynedd a chwe mis; yna yn Jerwsalem fe deyrnasodd dros Israel a Jwda gyfan am dair ar ddeg ar hugain o flynyddoedd.
5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
6 Pan aeth Dafydd a'i ddynion i Jerwsalem yn erbyn y Jebusiaid oedd yn byw yn y wlad, dywedasant wrth Ddafydd, "Ni ddoi i mewn yma; bydd deillion a chloffion yn dy droi di'n l" gan dybio nad i Dafydd i mewn yno.
6And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land; and they spoke to David, saying, Thou shalt not come in hither, but the blind and the lame will drive thee back; as much as to say, David will not come in hither.
7 Eto fe enillodd Dafydd gaer Seion, sef Dinas Dafydd.
7But David took the stronghold of Zion, which is the city of David.
8 Y diwrnod hwnnw fe ddywedodd Dafydd, "Pob un sydd am daro'r Jebusiaid, aed i fyny trwy'r siafft ddu373?r at y cloffion a'r deillion sy'n gas gan enaid Dafydd." Dyna pam y dywedir, "Ni chaiff y dall na'r cloff ddod i'r deml."
8And David said on that day, Whoever smites the Jebusites and gets up to the watercourse, and the lame and the blind hated of David's soul ...! Therefore they say, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
9 Pan ymsefydlodd Dafydd yn y gaer, galwodd hi yn Ddinas Dafydd, ac adeiladodd fur o'i chwmpas, o'r Milo at y deml.
9So David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from the Millo and inward.
10 Cynyddodd Dafydd fwyfwy, ac yr oedd ARGLWYDD Dduw y Lluoedd o'i blaid.
10And David became continually greater; and Jehovah the God of hosts was with him.
11 Anfonodd Hiram brenin Tyrus negeswyr at Ddafydd, a hefyd goed cedrwydd a seiri coed a seiri maen, ac adeiladodd y rhain du375? ar gyfer Dafydd.
11And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.
12 Sylweddolodd Dafydd fod yr ARGLWYDD wedi ei gadarnhau yn frenin ar Israel, a'i fod wedi dyrchafu ei frenhiniaeth er mwyn ei bobl Israel.
12And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom because of his people Israel.
13 Wedi iddo ddod o Hebron, cymerodd Dafydd ragor o ordderch-wragedd ac o wragedd o Jerwsalem; a ganed rhagor o feibion ac o ferched iddo.
13And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
14 Dyma enwau'r rhai a aned iddo yn Jerwsalem: Samua, Sobab, Nathan, Solomon,
14And these are the names of those that were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
15 Ibhar, Elisua, Neffeg, Jaffia,
15and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
16 Elisama, Eliada ac Eliffelet.
16and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.
17 Pan glywodd y Philistiaid fod Dafydd wedi ei eneinio yn frenin ar Israel, aethant oll i chwilio amdano, ond clywodd ef am hyn ac aeth i lawr i'r gaer.
17And the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, and all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard [of it], and went down to the stronghold.
18 Wedi i'r Philistiaid ddod ac ymledu dros ddyffryn Reffaim,
18And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
19 ymofynnodd Dafydd 'r ARGLWYDD a dweud, "A af i fyny yn erbyn y Philistiaid? A roi di hwy yn fy llaw?" Atebodd yr ARGLWYDD, "Dos i fyny, oherwydd yn sicr fe roddaf y Philistiaid yn dy law."
19And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou give them into my hand? And Jehovah said to David, Go up; for I will certainly give the Philistines into thy hand.
20 Felly aeth Dafydd i Baal-perasim, a'u taro yno. Ac meddai Dafydd, "Torrodd yr ARGLWYDD drwy fy ngelynion o'm blaen fel toriad dyfroedd." Dyna pam yr enwodd y lle hwnnw, Baal-perasim.
20And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and he said, Jehovah has broken in upon mine enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
21 Yr oedd y Philistiaid wedi gadael eu delwau ar l yno, felly dygodd Dafydd a'i wu375?r hwy i ffwrdd.
21And they left their images there, and David and his men took them away.
22 Ymosododd y Philistiaid unwaith eto, ac ymledu dros ddyffryn Reffaim.
22And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
23 Ymofynnodd Dafydd 'r ARGLWYDD a chael yr ateb, "Paid mynd i fyny, dos ar gylch i'r tu cefn iddynt, a thyrd atynt gyferbyn 'r morwydd.
23And David inquired of Jehovah; and he said, Thou shalt not go up; turn round behind them and come upon them opposite the mulberry-trees.
24 Yna, pan glywi su373?n cerdded ym mrig y morwydd, dos yn dy flaen, oherwydd yr adeg honno bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn mynd allan o'th flaen i daro gwersyll y Philistiaid."
24And it shall be, when thou hearest a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself; for then will Jehovah have gone forth before thee, to smite the army of the Philistines.
25 Gwnaeth Dafydd hynny, fel y gorchmynnodd yr ARGLWYDD, a tharo'r Philistiaid o Geba hyd gyrion Geser.
25And David did so, as Jehovah had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou comest to Gezer.
