Jeremiah

14

1 Dyma air yr ARGLWYDD at Jeremeia ynghylch y sychder:
1The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
2 "Y mae Jwda'n galaru, a'i phyrth yn llesg; y maent yn cwynfan ar lawr, a chri Jerwsalem yn esgyn fry.
2Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish, they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem goeth up.
3 Y mae'r pendefigion yn anfon y gweision i gyrchu du373?r; dnt at y ffosydd a'u cael yn sych, dychwelant a'u llestri'n wag; mewn cywilydd a dryswch fe guddiant eu hwynebau.
3And their nobles send their little ones for water: they come to the pits, they find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are ashamed, they are confounded, and have covered their heads.
4 Oherwydd craciodd y pridd am na ddaeth glaw i'r wlad; mewn cywilydd cuddiodd yr amaethwyr eu hwynebau.
4Because the ground is chapt, for there hath been no rain on the earth, the ploughmen are ashamed, they cover their heads.
5 Y mae'r ewig yn bwrw llwdn yn y maes, ac yn ei adael am nad oes porfa;
5For the hind also calveth in the field, and forsaketh [its young], because there is no grass.
6 y mae'r asynnod gwyllt yn sefyll ar y moelydd uchel, ac yn yfed gwynt fel bleiddiaid; pylodd eu llygaid am nad oes gwellt."
6And the wild asses stand on the heights, they snuff up the wind like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.
7 "Yn ddiau, er i'n drygioni dystio yn ein herbyn, O ARGLWYDD, gweithreda er mwyn dy enw. Y mae ein gwrthgilio'n aml, pechasom yn dy erbyn.
7Jehovah, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou act for thy name's sake; for our backslidings are many -- we have sinned against thee.
8 Gobaith Israel, a'i geidwad yn awr ei adfyd, pam y byddi fel dieithryn yn y tir, fel ymdeithydd yn lledu pabell i aros noson?
8Thou hope of Israel, its Saviour in the time of trouble, why wilt thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a traveller that turneth aside to stay a night?
9 Pam y byddi fel un mewn syndod, fel un cryf yn methu achub? Ond eto yr wyt yn ein mysg ni, ARGLWYDD; dy enw di a roddwyd arnom; paid 'n gadael."
9Why wilt thou be as a man astonished, as a mighty man that cannot save? Yet thou, Jehovah, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name: leave us not.
10 Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD wrth y bobl hyn: "Mor hoff ganddynt yw crwydro heb atal eu traed; am hynny, ni fyn yr ARGLWYDD mohonynt, fe gofia eu drygioni yn awr, a chosbi eu pechodau."
10Thus saith Jehovah to this people: Even so have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet; and Jehovah hath no delight in them: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
11 Dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf, "Paid gweddo dros les y bobl hyn.
11And Jehovah said unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.
12 Pan ymprydiant, ni wrandawaf ar eu cri; pan aberthant boethoffrwm a bwydoffrwm, ni fynnaf hwy; ond difethaf hwy 'r cleddyf a newyn a haint."
12When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer up burnt-offering and oblation, I will not accept them: for I will consume them by sword, and by famine, and by pestilence.
13 Dywedais innau, "O fy Arglwydd DDUW, wele'r proffwydi yn dweud wrthynt, 'Ni welwch gleddyf, ni ddaw newyn arnoch, ond fe rof i chwi wir heddwch yn y lle hwn.'"
13And I said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; for I will give you assured peace in this place.
14 A dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf, "Proffwydo celwyddau yn fy enw i y mae'r proffwydi; nid anfonais hwy, na gorchymyn iddynt, na llefaru wrthynt. Proffwydant i chwi weledigaethau gau, a dewiniaeth ffl, a thwyll eu dychymyg eu hunain.
14And Jehovah said unto me, The prophets prophesy falsehood in my name; I have not sent them, neither have I commanded them, nor spoken unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
15 Am hynny, fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD am y proffwydi sy'n proffwydo yn fy enw er nad anfonais hwy, sy'n dweud na bydd cleddyf na newyn yn y wlad hon: 'Trwy'r cleddyf a newyn y difethir y proffwydi hynny.
15Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, and who say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and by famine shall those prophets be consumed;
16 Oherwydd y newyn a'r cleddyf, teflir allan i heolydd Jerwsalem y bobl y proffwydir iddynt, heb neb i'w claddu hwy eu hunain na'u gwragedd na'u meibion na'u merched. Tywalltaf eu drygioni arnynt.'
16and the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the famine and the sword; and there shall be none to bury them, them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters; and I will pour their wickedness upon them.
17 "A dywedi wrthynt y gair hwn: 'Difered fy llygaid ddagrau, nos a dydd heb beidio. Daeth briw enbyd i'r wyryf, merch fy mhobl; ergyd drom iawn.
17And thou shalt say this word unto them: Let mine eyes run down with tears, night and day, and not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
18 Os af i'r maes, yno y mae'r cyrff a laddwyd 'r cleddyf. Os af i'r ddinas, yno y mae'r rhai a nychwyd gan y newyn. Y mae'r proffwyd hefyd a'r offeiriad yn crwydro'r wlad, a heb ddeall.'"
18If I go forth into the field, behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, behold them that pine away with famine! For both prophet and priest shall go about into a land that they know not.
19 A wrthodaist ti Jwda yn llwyr? A ffieiddiaist ti Seion? Pam y trewaist ni heb fod inni iachd? Disgwyl yr oeddem am heddwch, ond ni ddaeth daioni; am amser iachd, ond dychryn a ddaeth.
19-- Hast thou then utterly rejected Judah? Doth thy soul loathe Zion? Why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? Peace is looked for, and there is no good, -- and a time of healing, and behold terror!
20 Cydnabyddwn, ARGLWYDD, ein drygioni, a chamwedd ein hynafiaid; yn wir, yr ydym wedi pechu yn dy erbyn.
20Jehovah, we acknowledge our wickedness, the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.
21 Ond oherwydd dy enw, paid 'n ffieiddio ni, na dirmygu dy orsedd ogoneddus; cofia dy gyfamod ni, paid 'i dorri.
21For thy name's sake, do not spurn [us], do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
22 A oes neb ymhlith gau dduwiau'r cenhedloedd a rydd lawogydd? A rydd y nefoedd ei hun gawodydd? Na, ond ti, yr ARGLWYDD ein Duw, ynot ti yr hyderwn, ti yn unig a wnei'r pethau hyn oll.
22Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? Art not thou HE, Jehovah, our God? And we wait upon thee; for thou hast made all these things.
