Darby's Translation

John

9

1 Wrth fynd ar ei daith, gwelodd Iesu ddyn dall o'i enedigaeth.
1And as he passed on, he saw a man blind from birth.
2 Gofynnodd ei ddisgyblion iddo, "Rabbi, pwy a bechodd, ai hwn ynteu ei rieni, i beri iddo gael ei eni'n ddall?"
2And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this [man] or his parents, that he should be born blind?
3 Atebodd Iesu, "Ni phechodd hwn na'i rieni chwaith, ond fe amlygir gweithredoedd Duw ynddo ef.
3Jesus answered, Neither has this [man] sinned nor his parents, but that the works of God should be manifested in him.
4 Y mae'n rhaid i ni gyflawni gweithredoedd yr hwn a'm hanfonodd i tra mae hi'n ddydd. Y mae'r nos yn dod, pan na all neb weithio.
4I must work the works of him that has sent me while it is day. [The] night is coming, when no one can work.
5 Tra byddaf yn y byd, goleuni'r byd ydwyf."
5As long as I am in the world, I am [the] light of the world.
6 Wedi dweud hyn poerodd ar y llawr a gwneud clai o'r poeryn; yna irodd lygaid y dyn 'r clai,
6Having said these things, he spat on the ground and made mud of the spittle, and put the mud, as ointment, on his eyes.
7 ac meddai wrtho, "Dos i ymolchi ym mhwll Siloam" (enw a gyfieithir Anfonedig). Aeth y dyn yno ac ymolchi, a phan ddaeth yn l yr oedd yn gweld.
7And he said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, which is interpreted, Sent. He went therefore and washed, and came seeing.
8 Dyma'i gymdogion, felly, a'r bobl oedd wedi arfer o'r blaen ei weld fel cardotyn, yn dweud, "Onid hwn yw'r dyn fyddai'n eistedd i gardota?"
8The neighbours therefore, and those who used to see him before, that he was a beggar, said, Is not this he that was sitting and begging?
9 Meddai rhai, "Hwn yw ef." "Na," meddai eraill, "ond y mae'n debyg iddo." Ac meddai'r dyn ei hun, "Myfi yw ef."
9Some said, It is he; others said, No, but he is like him: *he* said, It is I.
10 Gofynasant iddo felly, "Sut yr agorwyd dy lygaid di?"
10They said therefore to him, How have thine eyes been opened?
11 Atebodd yntau, "Y dyn a elwir Iesu a wnaeth glai ac iro fy llygaid a dweud wrthyf, 'Dos i Siloam i ymolchi.' Ac wedi imi fynd yno ac ymolchi, cefais fy ngolwg."
11He answered [and said], A man called Jesus made mud and anointed mine eyes, and said to me, Go to Siloam and wash: and having gone and washed, I saw.
12 Gofynasant iddo, "Ble mae ef?" "Ni wn i," meddai yntau.
12They said therefore to him, Where is he? He says, I do not know.
13 Aethant 'r dyn oedd wedi bod gynt yn ddall at y Phariseaid.
13They bring him who was before blind to the Pharisees.
14 Yr oedd yn Saboth y dydd hwnnw pan wnaeth Iesu glai ac agor llygaid y dyn.
14Now it was sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.
15 A dyma'r Phariseaid yn gofyn iddo eto sut yr oedd wedi cael ei olwg. Ac meddai wrthynt, "Rhoddodd glai ar fy llygaid ac ymolchais, a dyma fi'n gweld."
15The Pharisees therefore also again asked him how he received his sight. And he said to them, He put mud upon mine eyes, and I washed, and I see.
16 Felly dywedodd rhai o'r Phariseaid, "Nid yw'r dyn hwn o Dduw; nid yw'n cadw'r Saboth." Ond meddai eraill, "Sut y gall dyn sy'n bechadur wneud y fath arwyddion?" Ac yr oedd ymraniad yn eu plith,
16Some of the Pharisees therefore said, This man is not of God, for he does not keep the sabbath. Others said, How can a sinful man perform such signs? And there was a division among them.
17 a dyma hwy'n gofyn eto i'r dyn dall, "Beth sydd gennyt ti i'w ddweud amdano ef, gan iddo agor dy lygaid di?" Atebodd yntau, "Proffwyd yw ef."
17They say therefore again to the blind [man], What dost thou say of him, that he has opened thine eyes? And he said, He is a prophet.
18 Gwrthododd yr Iddewon gredu amdano iddo fod yn ddall a derbyn ei olwg, nes iddynt alw rhieni'r dyn
18The Jews therefore did not believe concerning him that he was blind and had received sight, until they had called the parents of him that had received sight.
19 a'u holi hwy: "Ai hwn yw eich mab chwi? A ydych chwi'n dweud ei fod wedi ei eni'n ddall? Sut felly y mae'n gweld yn awr?"
19And they asked them saying, This is your son, of whom ye say that he was born blind: how then does he now see?
20 Atebodd ei rieni, "Fe wyddom mai hwn yw ein mab a'i fod wedi ei eni'n ddall.
20His parents answered [them] and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;
21 Ond ni wyddom sut y mae'n gweld yn awr, ac ni wyddom pwy a agorodd ei lygaid. Gofynnwch iddo ef. Y mae'n ddigon hen. Caiff ateb drosto'i hun."
21but how he now sees we do not know, or who has opened his eyes we do not know. *He* is of age: ask *him*; *he* will speak concerning himself.
22 Atebodd ei rieni fel hyn am fod arnynt ofn yr Iddewon, oherwydd yr oedd yr Iddewon eisoes wedi cytuno bod unrhyw un a fyddai'n cyffesu Iesu fel Meseia i gael ei dorri allan o'r synagog.
22His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if any one confessed him [to be the] Christ, he should be excommunicated from the synagogue.
23 Dyna pam y dywedodd ei rieni, "Y mae'n ddigon hen. Gofynnwch iddo ef."
23On this account his parents said, He is of age: ask *him*.
24 Yna galwasant atynt am yr ail waith y dyn a fu'n ddall, ac meddent wrtho, "Dywed y gwir gerbron Duw. Fe wyddom ni mai pechadur yw'r dyn hwn."
24They called therefore a second time the man who had been blind, and said to him, Give glory to God: we know that this man is sinful.
25 Atebodd yntau, "Ni wn i a yw'n bechadur ai peidio. Un peth a wn i: roeddwn i'n ddall, ac yn awr rwyf yn gweld."
25He answered therefore, If he is sinful I know not. One thing I know, that, being blind [before], now I see.
26 Meddent wrtho, "Beth wnaeth ef iti? Sut yr agorodd ef dy lygaid di?"
26And they said to him again, What did he do to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
27 Atebodd hwy, "Rwyf wedi dweud wrthych eisoes, ond nid ydych wedi gwrando. Pam yr ydych mor awyddus i glywed y peth eto? Does bosibl eich bod chwi hefyd yn awyddus i fod yn ddisgyblion iddo?"
27He answered them, I told you already and ye did not hear: why do ye desire to hear again? do ye also wish to become his disciples?
28 Ar hyn, dyma hwy'n ei ddifro ac yn dweud wrtho, "Ti sy'n ddisgybl i'r dyn. Disgyblion Moses ydym ni.
28They railed at him, and said, Thou art his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.
29 Fe wyddom fod Duw wedi llefaru wrth Moses, ond am y dyn hwn, ni wyddom o ble y mae wedi dod."
29We know that God spoke to Moses; but [as to] this [man], we know not whence he is.
30 Atebodd y dyn hwy, "Y peth rhyfedd yw hyn, na wyddoch chwi o ble y mae wedi dod, ac eto fe agorodd ef fy llygaid i.
30The man answered and said to them, Now in this is a wonderful thing, that *ye* do not know whence he is, and he has opened mine eyes.
31 Fe wyddom nad yw Duw yn gwrando ar bechaduriaid, ond ei fod yn gwrando ar unrhyw un sy'n dduwiol ac yn gwneud ei ewyllys ef.
31[But] we know that God does not hear sinners; but if any one be God-fearing and do his will, him he hears.
32 Ni chlywyd erioed fod neb wedi agor llygaid rhywun oedd wedi ei eni'n ddall.
32Since time was, it has not been heard that any one opened the eyes of one born blind.
33 Oni bai fod y dyn hwn o Dduw, ni allai wneud dim."
33If this [man] were not of God he would be able to do nothing.
34 Atebodd y Phariseaid ef, "Fe'th aned di yn gyfan gwbl mewn pechod, ac a wyt ti yn ein dysgu ni?" Yna taflasant ef allan.
34They answered and said to him, Thou hast been wholly born in sins, and thou teachest us? And they cast him out.
35 Clywodd Iesu eu bod wedi ei daflu allan, a phan gafodd hyd iddo gofynnodd iddo, "A wyt ti'n credu ym Mab y Dyn?"
35Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him, he said to him, Thou, dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 Atebodd yntau, "Pwy yw ef, syr, er mwyn imi gredu ynddo?"
36He answered and said, And who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him?
37 Meddai Iesu wrtho, "Yr wyt wedi ei weld ef. Yr un sy'n siarad thi, hwnnw yw ef."
37And Jesus said to him, Thou hast both seen him, and he that speaks with thee is he.
38 "Yr wyf yn credu, Arglwydd," meddai'r dyn, gan ymgrymu o'i flaen.
38And he said, I believe, Lord: and he did him homage.
39 A dywedodd Iesu, "I farnu y deuthum i i'r byd hwn, er mwyn i'r rhai nad ydynt yn gweld gael gweld, ac i'r rhai sydd yn gweld fynd yn ddall."
39And Jesus said, For judgment am I come into this world, that they which see not may see, and they which see may become blind.
40 Clywodd rhai o'r Phariseaid oedd yno gydag ef hyn, ac meddent wrtho, "A ydym ni hefyd yn ddall?"
40And [some] of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and they said to him, Are we blind also?
41 Atebodd Iesu hwy: "Pe baech yn ddall, ni byddai gennych bechod. Ond am eich bod yn awr yn dweud, 'Yr ydym yn gweld', y mae eich pechod yn aros.
41Jesus said to them, If ye were blind ye would not have sin; but now ye say, We see, your sin remains.
