Darby's Translation

Joshua

20

1 Llefarodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth Josua a dweud,
1And Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,
2 "Dywed wrth yr Israeliaid am neilltuo dinasoedd noddfa, fel y gorchmynnais iddynt trwy Moses,
2Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint for yourselves the cities of refuge, whereof I spoke unto you through Moses,
3 er mwyn i'r sawl sydd wedi lladd rhywun trwy amryfusedd, neu'n anfwriadol, gael ffoi iddynt, a chael noddfa ynddynt rhag y dialydd gwaed.
3that the slayer who unwittingly without intent smiteth any one mortally may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
4 Pan fydd rhywun yn ffoi i un o'r dinasoedd hyn, y mae i sefyll wrth fynediad porth y ddinas, ac adrodd ei achos yng nghlyw henuriaid y ddinas honno. Os byddant yn caniatu iddo ddod i mewn atynt i'r ddinas, byddant yn nodi lle ar ei gyfer, a chaiff aros yno gyda hwy.
4And he shall flee unto one of those cities and stand at the entrance of the city-gate, and shall declare his matter in the ears of the elders of that city; and they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
5 Os daw'r dialydd gwaed ar ei l, nid ydynt i ildio'r lleiddiad iddo, oherwydd yn anfwriadol y lladdodd ef ei gymydog, ac nid oedd yn ei gasu'n flaenorol.
5And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; for he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hated him not previously.
6 Caiff aros yn y ddinas honno nes iddo sefyll ei brawf gerbron y gynulleidfa. Ar farwolaeth y sawl fydd yn archoffeiriad ar y pryd, caiff y lleiddiad fynd yn l i'w gartref yn y dref y ffodd ohoni."
6And he shall dwell in that city, until he have stood before the assembly in judgment, until the death of the high-priest that shall be in those days; then shall the slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.
7 Neilltuasant Cedes yn Galilea ym mynydd-dir Nafftali, Sichem ym mynydddir Effraim, a Ciriath-arba, sef Hebron, ym mynydddir Jwda.
7And they hallowed Kedesh in Galilee in the hill-country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Kirjath-Arba, that is, Hebron, in the hill-country of Judah.
8 Y tu hwnt i'r Iorddonen, i'r dwyrain o Jericho, nodasant Beser ar y gwastatir yn yr anialwch, o lwyth Reuben; Ramoth yn Gilead o lwyth Gad, a Golan yn Basan o lwyth Manasse.
8And beyond the Jordan from Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness, in the plateau, out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan of the tribe of Manasseh.
9 Nodwyd y dinasoedd hyn ar gyfer yr holl Israeliaid, a'r dieithriaid oedd dros dro yn eu mysg, er mwyn i'r sawl fyddai wedi lladd rhywun mewn amryfusedd ffoi iddynt, rhag iddo farw trwy law dialydd gwaed cyn sefyll ei brawf gerbron y gynulleidfa.
9These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever smiteth any one mortally without intent might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the assembly.
