Darby's Translation

Matthew

14

1 Yr amser hwnnw clywodd Herod y tetrarch y sn am Iesu,
1At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
2 a dywedodd wrth ei weision, "Ioan Fedyddiwr yw hwn; y mae ef wedi ei godi oddi wrth y meirw, a dyna pam y mae'r gweithredoedd nerthol ar waith ynddo ef."
2and said to his servants, This is John the baptist: *he* is risen from the dead, and because of this these works of power display their force in him.
3 Oherwydd yr oedd Herod wedi dal Ioan a'i roi yn rhwym yng ngharchar o achos Herodias, gwraig Philip ei frawd.
3For Herod had seized John, and had bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias the wife of Philip his brother.
4 Yr oedd Ioan wedi dweud wrtho, "Nid yw'n gyfreithlon i ti ei chael hi."
4For John said to him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
5 Ac er bod Herod yn dymuno ei ladd, yr oedd arno ofn y bobl, am eu bod yn ystyried Ioan yn broffwyd.
5And [while] desiring to kill him, he feared the crowd, because they held him for a prophet.
6 Pan oedd Herod yn dathlu ei ben-blwydd, dawnsiodd merch Herodias gerbron y cwmni a phlesio Herod
6But when Herod's birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod;
7 gymaint nes iddo addo ar ei lw roi iddi beth bynnag a ofynnai.
7whereupon he promised with oath to give her whatsoever she should ask.
8 Ar gyfarwyddyd ei mam, dywedodd hi, "Rho i mi, yma ar ddysgl, ben Ioan Fedyddiwr."
8But she, being set on by her mother, says, Give me here upon a dish the head of John the baptist.
9 Aeth y brenin yn drist, ond oherwydd ei lw ac oherwydd ei westeion gorchmynnodd ei roi iddi,
9And the king was grieved; but on account of the oaths, and those lying at table with [him], he commanded [it] to be given.
10 ac anfonodd i dorri pen Ioan yn y carchar.
10And he sent and beheaded John in the prison;
11 Daethpwyd 'i ben ef ar ddysgl a'i roi i'r eneth, ac aeth hi ag ef i'w mam.
11and his head was brought upon a dish, and was given to the damsel, and she carried [it] to her mother.
12 Yna daeth ei ddisgyblion a mynd 'r corff ymaith a'i gladdu, ac aethant ac adrodd yr hanes wrth Iesu.
12And his disciples came and took the body and buried it, and came and brought word to Jesus.
13 Pan glywodd Iesu, aeth oddi yno mewn cwch i le unig o'r neilltu. Ond clywodd y tyrfaoedd, a dilynasant ef dros y tir o'r trefi.
13And Jesus, having heard it, went away thence by ship to a desert place apart. And the crowds having heard [of it] followed him on foot from the cities.
14 Pan laniodd Iesu, gwelodd dyrfa fawr, a thosturiodd wrthynt ac iachu eu cleifion hwy.
14And going out he saw a great crowd, and was moved with compassion about them, and healed their infirm.
15 Fel yr oedd yn nosi daeth ei ddisgyblion ato a dweud, "Y mae'r lle yma'n unig ac y mae hi eisoes yn hwyr. Gollwng y tyrfaoedd, iddynt fynd i'r pentrefi i brynu bwyd iddynt eu hunain."
15But when even was come, his disciples came to him saying, The place is desert, and [much of] the [day] time already gone by; dismiss the crowds, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.
16 Meddai Iesu wrthynt, "Nid oes rhaid iddynt fynd ymaith. Rhowch chwi rywbeth i'w fwyta iddynt."
16But Jesus said to them, They have no need to go: give *ye* them to eat.
17 Meddent hwy wrtho, "Nid oes gennym yma ond pum torth a dau bysgodyn."
17But they say to him, We have not here save five loaves and two fishes.
18 Meddai yntau, "Dewch hwy yma i mi."
18And he said, Bring them here to me.
19 Ac wedi gorchymyn i'r tyrfaoedd eistedd ar y glaswellt, cymerodd y pum torth a'r ddau bysgodyn, a chan edrych i fyny i'r nef a bendithio, torrodd y torthau a rhoddodd hwy i'r disgyblion, a'r disgyblion i'r tyrfaoedd.
19And having commanded the crowds to recline upon the grass, having taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed: and having broken the loaves, he gave [them] to the disciples, and the disciples [gave them] to the crowds.
20 Bwytasant oll a chael digon, a chodasant ddeuddeg basgedaid lawn o'r tameidiau oedd dros ben.
20And all ate and were filled, and they took up what was over and above of fragments twelve hand-baskets full.
21 Ac yr oedd y rhai oedd yn bwyta tua phum mil o wu375?r, heblaw gwragedd a phlant.
21But those that had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 Yna'n ddi-oed gwnaeth i'r disgyblion fynd i'r cwch a hwylio o'i flaen i'r ochr draw, tra byddai ef yn gollwng y tyrfaoedd.
22And immediately he compelled the disciples to go on board ship, and to go on before him to the other side, until he should have dismissed the crowds.
23 Wedi eu gollwng aeth i fyny'r mynydd o'r neilltu i weddo, a phan aeth hi'n hwyr yr oedd yno ar ei ben ei hun.
23And having dismissed the crowds, he went up into the mountain apart to pray. And when even was come, he was alone there,
24 Yr oedd y cwch eisoes gryn bellter oddi wrth y tir, ac mewn helbul gan y tonnau, oherwydd yr oedd y gwynt yn ei erbyn.
24but the ship was already in the middle of the sea tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25 Rhwng tri a chwech o'r gloch y bore daeth ef atynt dan gerdded ar y mr.
25But in the fourth watch of the night he went off to them, walking on the sea.
26 Pan welodd y disgyblion ef yn cerdded ar y mr, dychrynwyd hwy nes dweud, "Drychiolaeth yw", a gweiddi gan ofn.
26And the disciples, seeing him walking on the sea, were troubled, saying, It is an apparition. And they cried out through fear.
27 Ond ar unwaith siaradodd Iesu hwy. "Codwch eich calon," meddai, "myfi yw; peidiwch ag ofni."
27But Jesus immediately spoke to them, saying, Take courage; it is *I*: be not afraid.
28 Atebodd Pedr ef, "Arglwydd, os tydi yw, gorchymyn i mi ddod atat ar y tonnau."
28And Peter answering him said, Lord, if it be *thou*, command me to come to thee upon the waters.
29 Meddai Iesu, "Tyrd." Disgynnodd Pedr o'r cwch a cherddodd ar y tonnau, a daeth at Iesu.
29And he said, Come. And Peter, having descended from the ship, walked upon the waters to go to Jesus.
30 Ond pan welodd rym y gwynt brawychodd, ac wrth ddechrau suddo gwaeddodd, "Arglwydd, achub fi."
30But seeing the wind strong he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, Lord, save me.
31 Estynnodd Iesu ei law ar unwaith a gafael ynddo gan ddweud, "Ti o ychydig ffydd, pam y petrusaist?"
31And immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught hold of him, and says to him, O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt?
32 Ac wedi iddynt ddringo i'r cwch, gostegodd y gwynt.
32And when they had gone up into the ship, the wind fell.
33 Yna addolodd y rhai oedd yn y cwch ef, gan ddweud, "Yn wir, Mab Duw wyt ti."
33But those in the ship came and did homage to him, saying, Truly thou art God's Son.
34 Wedi croesi'r mr daethant i dir yn Genesaret.
34And having crossed over they came to the land of Gennesaret.
35 Adnabu pobl y lle hwnnw ef, ac anfonasant i'r holl gymdogaeth honno, a daethant 'r cleifion i gyd ato,
35And when the men of that place recognised him, they sent to that whole country around, and they brought to him all that were ill,
36 ac erfyn arno am iddynt gael yn unig gyffwrdd ag ymyl ei fantell. A llwyr iachawyd pawb a gyffyrddodd ag ef.
36and besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment; and as many as touched were made thoroughly well.
