Darby's Translation

Romans

9

1 Ar fy ngwir yng Nghrist, heb ddim anwiredd ac y mae fy nghydwybod, dan arweiniad yr Ysbryd Gln, yn fy ategu
1I say [the] truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in [the] Holy Spirit,
2 y mae fy ngofid yn fawr, ac y mae gennyf loes ddi-baid yn fy nghalon.
2that I have great grief and uninterrupted pain in my heart,
3 Gallwn ddymuno i mi fy hunan fod dan felltith, ac yn ysgymun oddi wrth Grist, pe bai hynny o les iddynt hwy, fy nghyd-Iddewon i, fy mhobl i o ran cig a gwaed.
3for I have wished, I myself, to be a curse from the Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen, according to flesh;
4 Israeliaid ydynt; eu heiddo hwy yw'r mabwysiad, y gogoniant, y cyfamodau, y Gyfraith, yr addoliad a'r addewidion.
4who are Israelites; whose [is] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the law-giving, and the service, and the promises;
5 Iddynt hwy y mae'r hynafiaid yn perthyn, ac oddi wrthynt hwy, yn l ei linach naturiol, y daeth y Meseia. I'r Duw sy'n llywodraethu'r cwbl boed bendith am byth. Amen.
5whose [are] the fathers; and of whom, as according to flesh, [is] the Christ, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
6 Ond ni ellir dweud bod gair Duw wedi methu. Oherwydd nid yw pawb sydd o linach Israel yn wir Israel.
6Not however as though the word of God had failed; for not all [are] Israel which [are] of Israel;
7 Ac ni ellir dweud bod pawb ohonynt, am eu bod yn ddisgynyddion Abraham, yn blant gwirioneddol iddo. Yn hytrach, yng ngeiriau'r Ysgrythur, "Trwy Isaac y gelwir dy ddisgynyddion."
7nor because they are seed of Abraham [are] all children: but, In Isaac shall a seed be called to thee.
8 Hynny yw, nid y plant o linach naturiol Abraham, nid y rheini sy'n blant i Dduw. Yn hytrach, plant yr addewid sy'n cael eu cyfrif yn ddisgynyddion.
8That is, [they that are] the children of the flesh, these [are] not the children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned as seed.
9 Oherwydd dyma air yr addewid: "Mi ddof yn yr amser hwnnw, a chaiff Sara fab."
9For this word [is] of promise, According to this time I will come, and there shall be a son to Sarah.
10 Ond y mae enghraifft arall hefyd. Beichiogodd Rebeca o gyfathrach ag un dyn, sef ein tad Isaac.
10And not only [that], but Rebecca having conceived by one, Isaac our father,
11 Eto i gyd, cyn geni'r plant a chyn iddynt wneud dim, na da na drwg (fel bod bwriad Duw, sy'n gweithredu trwy etholedigaeth, yn dal mewn grym, yn dibynnu nid ar weithredoedd dynol ond ar yr hwn sy'n galw),
11[the children] indeed being not yet born, or having done anything good or worthless (that the purpose of God according to election might abide, not of works, but of him that calls),
12 fe ddywedwyd wrthi, "Bydd yr hynaf yn gwasanaethu'r ieuengaf."
12it was said to her, The greater shall serve the less:
13 Fel y mae'n ysgrifenedig: "Jacob, fe'i cerais, ond Esau, fe'i caseais."
13according as it is written, I have loved Jacob, and I have hated Esau.
14 Beth, ynteu, a atebwn i hyn? Bod Duw yn coleddu anghyfiawnder? Ddim ar unrhyw gyfrif!
14What shall we say then? [Is there] unrighteousness with God? Far be the thought.
15 Y mae'n dweud wrth Moses: "Trugarhaf wrth bwy bynnag y trugarhaf wrtho, a thosturiaf wrth bwy bynnag y tosturiaf wrtho."
15For he says to Moses, I will shew mercy to whom I will shew mercy, and I will feel compassion for whom I will feel compassion.
16 Felly, nid mater o ewyllys neu o ymdrech ddynol ydyw, ond o drugaredd Duw.
16So then [it is] not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shews mercy.
17 Fel y dywedir wrth Pharo yn yr Ysgrythur, "Fy union amcan wrth dy godi di oedd dangos fy ngallu ynot ti, a chyhoeddi fy enw trwy'r holl ddaear."
17For the scripture says to Pharaoh, For this very thing I have raised thee up from amongst [men], that I might thus shew in thee my power, and so that my name should be declared in all the earth.
18 Gwelir, felly, fod Duw yn trugarhau wrth unrhyw un a fyn, a'i fod yn gwneud unrhyw un a fyn yn wargaled.
18So then, to whom he will he shews mercy, and whom he will he hardens.
19 Ond fe ddywedi wrthyf, "Os felly, pam y mae Duw yn dal i feio pobl? Pwy a all wrthsefyll ei ewyllys?"
19Thou wilt say to me then, Why does he yet find fault? for who resists his purpose?
20 Ie, ond pwy wyt ti, feidrolyn, i ateb Duw yn l? A yw hi'n debyg y dywed yr hyn a luniwyd wrth yr un a'i lluniodd, "Pam y lluniaist fi fel hyn?"
20Aye, but thou, O man, who art *thou* that answerest again to God? Shall the thing formed say to him that has formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Oni all y crochenydd lunio beth bynnag a fynno o'r clai? Onid oes hawl ganddo i wneud, o'r un telpyn, un llestr i gael parch a'r llall amarch?
21Or has not the potter authority over the clay, out of the same lump to make one vessel to honour, and another to dishonour?
22 Ond beth os yw Duw, yn ei awydd i ddangos ei ddigofaint ac i amlygu ei nerth, wedi dioddef hir amynedd y llestri hynny sy'n wrthrychau digofaint ac yn barod i'w dinistrio?
22And if God, minded to shew his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much long-suffering vessels of wrath fitted for destruction;
23 Ei amcan yn hyn fyddai dwyn i'r golau y cyfoeth o ogoniant oedd ganddo ar gyfer y llestri sy'n wrthrychau trugaredd, y rheini yr oedd ef wedi eu paratoi ymlaen llaw i ogoniant.
23and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared for glory,
24 A ni yw'r rhain, ni sydd wedi ein galw, nid yn unig o blith yr Iddewon, ond hefyd o blith y Cenhedloedd.
24us, whom he has also called, not only from amongst [the] Jews, but also from amongst [the] nations?
25 Fel y mae'n dweud yn llyfr Hosea hefyd: "Galwaf yn bobl i mi rai nad ydynt yn bobl i mi, a galwaf yn anwylyd un nad yw'n anwylyd;
25As he says also in Hosea, I will call not-my-people My people; and the-not-beloved Beloved.
26 ac yn y lle y dywedwyd wrthynt, 'Nid fy mhobl ydych', yno, fe'u gelwir yn blant y Duw byw."
26And it shall be, in the place where it was said to them, *Ye* [are] not my people, there shall they be called Sons of [the] living God.
27 Ac y mae Eseia yn datgan am Israel: "Er i bobl Israel fod mor niferus  thywod y mr, gweddill yn unig fydd yn cael eu hachub;
27But Esaias cries concerning Israel, Should the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, the remnant shall be saved:
28 oherwydd llwyr a llym fydd dedfryd yr Arglwydd ar y ddaear."
28for [he] is bringing the matter to an end, and [cutting [it] short in righteousness; because] a cutting short of the matter will [the] Lord accomplish upon the earth.
29 A'r un yw neges gair blaenorol Eseia: "Oni bai i Arglwydd y Lluoedd adael i ni ddisgynyddion, byddem fel Sodom, ac yn debyg i Gomorra."
29And according as Esaias said before, Unless [the] Lord of hosts had left us a seed, we had been as Sodom, and made like even as Gomorrha.
30 Beth, ynteu, a ddywedwn? Hyn, fod Cenhedloedd, nad oeddent 'u bryd ar gyfiawnder, wedi dod o hyd iddo, sef y cyfiawnder sydd trwy ffydd;
30What then shall we say? That [they of the] nations, who did not follow after righteousness, have attained righteousness, but [the] righteousness that is on the principle of faith.
31 ond bod Israel, er iddi fod 'i bryd ar gyfraith a fyddai'n dod chyfiawnder, heb ei gael.
31But Israel, pursuing after a law of righteousness, has not attained to [that] law.
32 Am ba reswm? Am iddynt weithredu, nid trwy ffydd ond ar y dybiaeth mai cadw gofynion cyfraith oedd y ffordd. Syrthiasant ar y "maen tramgwydd"
32Wherefore? Because [it was] not on the principle of faith, but as of works. They have stumbled at the stumblingstone,
33 y mae'r Ysgrythur yn sn amdano: "Wele, yr wyf yn gosod yn Seion faen tramgwydd, a chraig rhwystr, a'r rhai sy'n credu ynddo, ni chywilyddir mohonynt."
33according as it is written, Behold, I place in Zion a stone of stumbling and rock of offence: and he that believes on him shall not be ashamed.
