1 Ar l i Rehoboam wneud ei frenhiniaeth yn gadarn a sicr, fe gefnodd ef a holl Israel gydag ef ar gyfraith yr ARGLWYDD.
1It happened, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of Yahweh, and all Israel with him.
2 Am iddynt fod yn anffyddlon i'r ARGLWYDD, ym mhumed flwyddyn y Brenin Rehoboam, daeth Sisac brenin yr Aifft i fyny yn erbyn Jerwsalem
2It happened in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against Yahweh,
3 gyda mil a dau gant o gerbydau a thrigain mil o farchogion; daeth hefyd lu aneirif o Libyaid, Suciaid ac Ethiopiaid gydag ef o'r Aifft.
3with twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.
4 Cymerodd ddinasoedd caerog Jwda a chyrhaeddodd Jerwsalem.
4He took the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
5 Yna daeth y proffwyd Semaia at Rehoboam a thywysogion Jwda, a oedd wedi ymgasglu yn Jerwsalem o achos Sisac, a dywedodd wrthynt, "Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD: 'Yr ydych chwi wedi cefnu arnaf fi; felly yr wyf finnau wedi cefnu arnoch chwi a'ch rhoi yn llaw Sisac.'"
5Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘You have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.’”
6 Yna fe ymostyngodd tywysogion Israel a'r brenin, a dweud, "Cyfiawn yw'r ARGLWYDD."
6Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, “Yahweh is righteous.”
7 A phan welodd yr ARGLWYDD iddynt ymostwng, daeth gair yr ARGLWYDD at Semaia a dweud, "Am iddynt ymostwng ni ddifethaf hwy, ond rhoddaf gyfle iddynt ddianc, ac ni thywelltir fy llid ar Jerwsalem trwy law Sisac.
7When Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
8 Er hynny, fe fyddant yn weision iddo, er mwyn iddynt wybod y gwahaniaeth rhwng fy ngwasanaethu i a gwasanaethu teyrnasoedd y byd."
8Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.”
9 Yna daeth Sisac brenin yr Aifft i fyny yn erbyn Jerwsalem a dwyn holl drysorau tu375?'r ARGLWYDD a thrysorau tu375?'r brenin, a dwyn hefyd y tarianau aur a wnaeth Solomon.
9So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king’s house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10 Yn eu lle gwnaeth y Brenin Rehoboam darianau pres, a'u rhoi yng ngofal swyddogion y gwarchodlu oedd yn gwylio porth tu375?'r brenin.
10King Rehoboam made in their place shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.
11 Bob tro yr i'r brenin i du375?'r ARGLWYDD, fe ddi'r gwarchodlu a'u cyrchu, ac yna eu dychwelyd i'r wardws.
11It was so, that as often as the king entered into the house of Yahweh, the guard came and bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.
12 A phan ymostyngodd, fe drodd yr ARGLWYDD ei lid oddi wrtho, a pheidio 'i lwyr ddinistrio. Yna daeth ffyniant i Jwda.
12When he humbled himself, the wrath of Yahweh turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether: and moreover in Judah there were good things found.
13 Sicrhaodd y Brenin Rehoboam ei afael ar Jerwsalem a theyrnasu yno. Yr oedd yn un a deugain oed pan ddechreuodd deyrnasu, a bu'n frenin am ddwy flynedd ar bymtheg yn Jerwsalem, y ddinas a ddewisodd yr ARGLWYDD allan o holl lwythau Israel i osod ei enw yno. Naama yr Ammones oedd enw mam Rehoboam.
13So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
14 Ond fe wnaeth y brenin ddrwg trwy beidio rhoi ei fryd ar geisio'r ARGLWYDD.
14He did that which was evil, because he didn’t set his heart to seek Yahweh.
15 Ac onid yw hanes Rehoboam, o'r dechrau i'r diwedd, yn ysgrifenedig yng nghroniclau ac achau Semaia y proffwyd ac Ido y gweledydd? Bu rhyfeloedd rhwng Rehoboam a Jeroboam trwy gydol yr amser.
15Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, aren’t they written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the way of genealogies? There were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
16 Pan fu farw Rehoboam, claddwyd ef yn Ninas Dafydd, a daeth Abeia ei fab yn frenin yn ei le.
16Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his place.
