1 Yn y ddeunawfed flwyddyn i'r Brenin Jeroboam, daeth Abeia yn frenin ar Jwda.
1In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.
2 Teyrnasodd am dair blynedd yn Jerwsalem, a Michaia ferch Uriel o Gibea oedd enw ei fam.
2He reigned three years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
3 Bu rhyfel rhwng Abeia a Jeroboam; aeth Abeia i'r frwydr gyda byddin o filwyr dewr, pedwar can mil o wu375?r dethol, a daeth Jeroboam i'w gyfarfod gydag wyth can mil o wroniaid dethol.
3Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valor.
4 Safodd Abeia ar Fynydd Semaraim ym mynydd-dir Effraim a dweud, "Gwrandewch arnaf fi, Jeroboam a holl Israel.
4Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:
5 Oni wyddoch fod ARGLWYDD Dduw Israel wedi rhoi i Ddafydd a'i feibion yr hawl i deyrnasu am byth ar Israel trwy gyfamod halen?
5Ought you not to know that Yahweh, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
6 Ond gwrthryfelodd Jeroboam fab Nebat, gwas Solomon fab Dafydd, yn erbyn ei arglwydd,
6Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.
7 a chasglu ato ddihirod ofer, a fu'n herio Rehoboam fab Solomon, pan oedd yn llanc ifanc ofnus a heb fod yn ddigon cryf i'w gwrthsefyll.
7There were gathered to him worthless men, base fellows, who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
8 Yn awr, yr ydych chwi'n bwriadu gwrthsefyll teyrnas yr ARGLWYDD, sydd wedi ei rhoi i feibion Dafydd, am eich bod yn niferus iawn ac yn berchen ar y lloi aur a wnaeth Jeroboam yn dduwiau i chwi.
8“Now you think to withstand the kingdom of Yahweh in the hand of the sons of David; and you are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.
9 Onid ydych wedi diarddel offeiriaid yr ARGLWYDD, meibion Aaron, a'r Lefiaid, ac ethol eich offeiriaid eich hunain, fel y gwna pobl gwledydd eraill? Y mae pwy bynnag sy'n dod i'w gysegru ei hun bustach ifanc a saith o hyrddod yn mynd yn offeiriad i'r un nad yw'n dduw.
9Haven’t you driven out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves after the ways of the peoples of other lands? so that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, the same may be a priest of those who are no gods.
10 Ond yr ARGLWYDD yw ein Duw ni, ac nid ydym wedi ei wrthod; meibion Aaron yw'r offeiriaid sydd gennym ni yn gwasanaethu'r ARGLWYDD, a'r Lefiaid yn eu cynorthwyo.
10“But as for us, Yahweh is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and we have priests ministering to Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work:
11 Y maent yn llosgi poethoffrymau ac arogldarth peraidd i'r ARGLWYDD bob bore a hwyr, ac yn trefnu'r bara gosod ar y bwrdd dihalog a chynnau'r lampau yn y canhwyllbren aur bob prynhawn. Oherwydd yr ydym ni'n dal i wasanaethu'r ARGLWYDD ein Duw; ond yr ydych chwi wedi ei wrthod.
11and they burn to Yahweh every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense. They also set the show bread in order on the pure table; and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the instruction of Yahweh our God; but you have forsaken him.
12 Wele, y mae Duw gyda ni i'n harwain, a'i offeiriaid thrwmpedau yn galw brwydr yn eich erbyn. Bobl Israel, peidiwch ag ymladd yn erbyn ARGLWYDD Dduw eich hynafiaid, oherwydd ni fyddwch yn llwyddo."
12Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don’t fight against Yahweh, the God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper.”
13 Anfonodd Jeroboam rai o'u hamgylch i ymguddio ac ymosod arnynt o'r tu l; felly, tra oedd rhai o flaen Jwda, yr oedd y lleill mewn cuddfan y tu cefn iddynt.
13But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.
14 Troes gwu375?r Jwda, a gweld y byddai'n rhaid iddynt ymladd o'r tu blaen ac o'r tu l;
14When Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried to Yahweh, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
15 yna galwasant ar yr ARGLWYDD, ac fe ganodd yr offeiriaid y trwmpedau, a bloeddiodd gwu375?r Jwda. Pan floeddiodd gwu375?r Jwda, trawodd Duw Jeroboam a holl Israel o flaen Abeia a Jwda.
15Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it happened, that God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
16 Ffodd yr Israeliaid o flaen gwu375?r Jwda, ac fe roddodd Duw hwy yn eu llaw.
16The children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.
17 Lladdodd Abeia a'i filwyr lawer iawn ohonynt; syrthiodd yn gelain bum can mil o wu375?r dethol Israel.
17Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
18 Darostyngwyd yr Israeliaid y pryd hwnnw, a chafodd byddin Jwda fuddugoliaeth am iddynt ymddiried yn ARGLWYDD Dduw eu hynafiaid.
18Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
19 Ymlidiodd Abeia ar l Jeroboam a chymryd oddi arno ddinasoedd Bethel, Jesana ac Effraim a'u pentrefi.
19Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with its towns, and Jeshanah with its towns, and Ephron with its towns.
20 Ni lwyddodd Jeroboam i adennill ei nerth yn ystod teyrnasiad Abeia; trawyd ef gan yr ARGLWYDD, a bu farw.
20Jeroboam didn’t recover strength again in the days of Abijah. Yahweh struck him, and he died.
21 Ond cryfhaodd Abeia; priododd bedair ar ddeg o wragedd, a chenhedlu dau fab ar hugain ac un ar bymtheg o ferched.
21But Abijah grew mighty, and took to himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.
22 Y mae gweddill hanes Abeia, yr hyn a wnaeth ac a ddywedodd, yn ysgrifenedig yn llyfr y proffwyd Ido.
22The rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
