1 Yr oedd gan Jehosaffat olud a chyfoeth mawr iawn, ac yr oedd yn perthyn i Ahab trwy briodas.
1Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he joined affinity with Ahab.
2 Ymhen rhai blynyddoedd fe aeth i lawr i Samaria at Ahab, a lladdodd yntau lawer o ddefaid a gwartheg iddo ef a'r bobl oedd gydag ef, a'i ddenu i ymosod ar Ramoth-gilead.
2After certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.
3 Meddai Ahab brenin Israel wrth Jehosaffat brenin Jwda, "A ddoi di gyda mi i Ramoth-gilead?" Atebodd yntau, "Yr wyf fi fel tydi, fy mhobl i fel dy bobl di; down gyda thi i ryfel."
3Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”
4 Ond ychwanegodd Jehosaffat wrth frenin Israel, "Cais yn gyntaf air yr ARGLWYDD."
4Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of Yahweh.”
5 Yna casglodd brenin Israel y proffwydi, pedwar cant ohonynt, a dweud wrthynt, "A ddylem fynd i fyny i ryfel yn erbyn Ramoth-gilead, ai peidio?" Dywedasant hwythau, "Dos i fyny, ac fe rydd Duw hi yn llaw'r brenin."
5Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” They said, “Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
6 Ond holodd Jehosaffat, "Onid oes yma broffwyd arall i'r ARGLWYDD, i ni ymgynghori ag ef?"
6But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we may inquire of him?”
7 Ac meddai brenin Israel wrth Jehosaffat, "Oes, y mae un gu373?r eto i geisio'r ARGLWYDD drwyddo, Michea fab Imla. Ond y mae ef yn atgas gennyf am nad yw byth yn proffwydo lles i mi, dim ond drwg." Dywedodd Jehosaffat, "Peidied y brenin dweud fel yna."
7The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”
8 Felly galwodd brenin Israel ar swyddog a dweud, "Tyrd Michea fab Imla yma ar frys."
8Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Get Micaiah the son of Imla quickly.”
9 Yr oedd brenin Israel a Jehosaffat brenin Jwda yn eu gwisgoedd brenhinol yn eistedd ar eu gorseddau ar y llawr dyrnu wrth borth Samaria, gyda'r holl broffwydi'n proffwydo o'u blaen.
9Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
10 Gwnaeth Sedeceia fab Cenaana gyrn haearn, a dweud, "Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD: 'Gyda'r rhain byddi'n cornio'r Syriaid nes iti eu difa.'"
10Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”
11 Ac yr oedd yr holl broffwydi'n proffwydo felly ac yn dweud, "Dos i fyny i Ramoth-gilead a llwydda; bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn ei rhoi yn llaw'r brenin."
11All the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
12 Dywedodd y negesydd a aeth i'w alw wrth Michea, "Edrych yn awr, y mae'r proffwydi'n unfrydol yn proffwydo llwyddiant i'r brenin. Bydded dy air dithau fel gair un ohonynt hwy, a phroffwyda lwyddiant."
12The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good.”
13 Atebodd Michea, "Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, yr hyn a ddywed fy Nuw wrthyf a lefaraf."
13Micaiah said, “As Yahweh lives, what my God says, that will I speak.”
14 Daeth at y brenin, a dywedodd y brenin wrtho, "Michea, a awn ni i Ramoth-gilead i ryfel, ai peidio?" A dywedodd wrtho, "Ewch i fyny a llwyddo; fe'u rhoddir hwy yn eich llaw."
14When he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” He said, “Go up, and prosper. They shall be delivered into your hand.”
15 Ond dywedodd y brenin wrtho, "Pa sawl gwaith yr wyf wedi dy dynghedu i beidio dweud dim ond y gwir wrthyf yn enw'r ARGLWYDD?"
15The king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Yahweh?”
16 Yna dywedodd Michea: "Gwelais Israel oll wedi eu gwasgaru ar y bryniau fel defaid heb fugail ganddynt. A dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD, 'Nid oes feistr ar y rhain; felly bydded iddynt ddychwelyd adref mewn heddwch.'"
16He said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. Yahweh said, ‘These have no master. Let them return every man to his house in peace.’”
17 Dywedodd brenin Israel wrth Jehosaffat, "Oni ddywedais wrthyt na fyddai'n proffwydo da i mi, ond yn hytrach ddrwg?"
17The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
18 A dywedodd Michea, "Am hynny, gwrandewch air yr ARGLWYDD; gwelais yr ARGLWYDD yn eistedd ar ei orsedd, gyda holl lu'r nef yn sefyll ar y dde ac ar y chwith iddo.
18Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of Yahweh: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
19 A dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD, 'Pwy a fedr hudo Ahab i frwydro a chwympo yn Ramoth-gilead?' Ac yr oedd un yn dweud fel hyn, a'r llall fel arall;
19Yahweh said, ‘Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.
20 ond dyma un ysbryd yn sefyll allan o flaen yr ARGLWYDD ac yn dweud, 'Fe'i hudaf fi ef'. Ac meddai'r ARGLWYDD, 'Sut?'
20A spirit came out, stood before Yahweh, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “Yahweh said to him, ‘How?’
21 Dywedodd yntau, 'Af allan a bod yn ysbryd celwyddog yng ngenau ei broffwydi i gyd.' Yna dywedodd wrtho, 'Fe lwyddi di i'w hudo; dos a gwna hyn.'
21“He said, ‘I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ “He said, ‘You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go forth, and do so.’
22 Yn awr, rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD ysbryd celwyddog yng ngenau dy broffwydi hyn; y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi llunio drwg ar dy gyfer."
22“Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.”
23 Nesaodd Sedeceia fab Cenaana a rhoi cernod i Michea, a dweud, "Sut yr aeth ysbryd yr ARGLWYDD oddi wrthyf fi i lefaru wrthyt ti?"
23Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the Spirit of Yahweh go from me to speak to you?”
24 Dywedodd Michea, "Cei weld ar y dydd hwnnw pan fyddi'n ceisio ymguddio yn yr ystafell nesaf i mewn."
24Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner room to hide yourself.”
25 A dywedodd brenin Israel, "Ewch Michea a'i roi yng ngofal Amon, rheolwr y dref, a Joas mab y brenin,
25The king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
26 a dywedwch wrthynt, 'Fel hyn y dywed y brenin: Rhowch hwn yng ngharchar, a bwydwch ef 'r dogn prinnaf o fara a du373?r nes imi ddod yn l yn llwyddiannus.'"
26and say, ‘Thus says the king, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.”’”
27 Ac meddai Michea, "Os llwyddi i ddod yn l, ni lefarodd yr ARGLWYDD drwof; gwrandewch chwi bobl i gyd."
27Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, you peoples, all of you!”
28 Aeth brenin Israel a Jehosaffat brenin Jwda i fyny i Ramoth-gilead.
28So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
29 A dywedodd brenin Israel wrth Jehosaffat, "Yr wyf fi am newid fy nillad cyn mynd i'r frwydr, ond gwisg di dy ddillad brenhinol." Newidiodd brenin Israel ei wisg, ac aethant i'r frwydr.
29The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.
30 Yr oedd brenin Syria wedi gorchymyn i gapteiniaid ei gerbydau, "Peidiwch ag ymladd neb, bach na mawr, ond brenin Israel yn unig."
30Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, “Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”
31 A phan welodd capteiniaid y cerbydau Jehosaffat, dywedasant, "Hwn yn sicr yw brenin Israel." Yna troesant i ymladd ag ef; ond rhoddodd Jehosaffat waedd, a chynorthwyodd yr ARGLWYDD Dduw ef trwy eu hudo oddi wrtho.
31It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
32 A phan welodd capteiniaid y cerbydau nad brenin Israel oedd, gadawsant lonydd iddo.
32It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
33 A thynnodd rhywun ei fwa ar antur, a tharo brenin Israel rhwng y darnau cyswllt a'r llurig. A dywedodd yntau wrth yrrwr ei gerbyd, "Tro'n l, a dwg fi allan o'r rhengoedd, oherwydd rwyf wedi fy nghlwyfo."
33A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, “Turn your hand, and carry me out of the army; for I am severely wounded.”
34 Ond ffyrnigodd y frwydr y diwrnod hwnnw, a bu raid i frenin Israel aros yn ei gerbyd yn wynebu'r Syriaid hyd yr hwyr; yna ar fachlud haul bu farw.
34The battle increased that day. However the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening; and about the time of the going down of the sun, he died.
