2 Chronicles

32

1 Yn fuan ar l yr enghreifftiau hyn o ffyddlondeb, daeth Senacherib brenin Asyria yn erbyn Jwda.
1After these things, and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fortified cities, and thought to win them for himself.
2 Gwersyllodd o gwmpas y dinasoedd caerog gan feddwl eu hennill drosodd. Pan welodd Heseceia fod Senacherib wedi cyrraedd a'i fod yn bwriadu ymosod ar Jerwsalem,
2When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
3 ymgynghorodd 'i gapteiniaid a'i wroniaid ynglu375?n chau'r ffynhonnau oedd y tu allan i'r ddinas,
3he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city; and they helped him.
4 a chafodd eu cefnogaeth. Yna daeth llawer iawn o bobl ynghyd, a chaewyd yr holl ffynhonnau a'r nant oedd yn llifo trwy ganol y wlad. "Pam," meddent, "y dylai brenhinoedd Asyria gael digon o ddu373?r pan ddnt yma?"
4So many people gathered together, and they stopped all the springs, and the brook that flowed through the midst of the land, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?”
5 Ymroes y brenin i ailadeiladu pob rhan o'r mur oedd wedi ei ddryllio, a chodi ar y tyrau ac adeiladu mur arall ar yr ochr allan. Cryfhaodd y Milo yn Ninas Dafydd a gwneud llawer o arfau a tharianau.
5He took courage, and built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised it up to the towers, and the other wall outside, and strengthened Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.
6 Gosododd gapteiniaid milwrol dros y bobl, a'u casglu ato i'r sgwr wrth borth y ddinas. Fe'u calonogodd gan ddweud,
6He set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the broad place at the gate of the city, and spoke comfortably to them, saying,
7 "Byddwch yn gryf a dewr. Peidiwch ag ofni na digalonni o flaen brenin Asyria a'i holl fintai. Y mae gennym ni fwy nag sydd ganddo ef.
7“Be strong and courageous, don’t be afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude who is with him; for there is a greater with us than with him.
8 Gallu dynol sydd ganddo ef, ond y mae yr ARGLWYDD ein Duw gyda ni i'n cynorthwyo ac i ymladd ein brwydrau." Ac fe ymddiriedodd y bobl yng ngeiriau Heseceia brenin Jwda.
8With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is Yahweh our God to help us, and to fight our battles.” The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 Yn ddiweddarach, pan oedd Senacherib brenin Asyria a'i holl fyddin yn gwarchae ar Lachis, anfonodd ei weision i Jerwsalem gyda'r neges hon i Heseceia brenin Jwda a phawb o Jwda oedd yn Jerwsalem:
9After this, Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem, (now he was before Lachish, and all his power with him), to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,
10 "Fel hyn y dywed Senacherib brenin Asyria: Ym mha beth yr ydych yn ymddiried, fel eich bod yn aros dan warchae yn Jerwsalem?
10Thus says Sennacherib king of Assyria, “In whom do you trust, that you remain under siege in Jerusalem?
11 Onid yw Heseceia yn eich twyllo ac yn eich condemnio i farw o newyn a syched trwy ddweud, 'Yr Arglwydd ein Duw a'n gwared ni o law brenin Asyria'?
11Doesn’t Hezekiah persuade you, to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, ‘Yahweh our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?’
12 Onid yr Heseceia hwn a dynnodd ymaith ei uchelfeydd a'i allorau, a dweud wrth Jwda a Jerwsalem, 'O flaen un allor yr addolwch ac arni hi yn unig yr arogldarthwch'?
12Hasn’t the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn incense?’
13 Oni wyddoch beth a wneuthum i a'm rhagflaenwyr i holl bobloedd y gwledydd?
13Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands in any way able to deliver their land out of my hand?
14 Prun o holl dduwiau'r cenhedloedd hyn, a ddinistriwyd gan fy rhagflaenwyr, a allodd waredu ei bobl o'm gafael? Sut felly y gall eich Duw chwi eich gwaredu o'm gafael?
14Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?
15 Yn awr, peidiwch gadael i Heseceia eich twyllo a'ch hudo fel hyn. Peidiwch ag ymddiried ynddo, oherwydd ni allodd duw unrhyw genedl na theyrnas waredu ei bobl o'm gafael i nac o afael fy rhagflaenwyr. Yn sicr ni all eich Duw chwi eich gwaredu o'm gafael!"
15Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you in this way, neither believe him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”
16 Dywedodd gweision Senacherib lawer mwy yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD Dduw a'i was Heseceia.
16His servants spoke yet more against Yahweh God, and against his servant Hezekiah.
17 Ysgrifennodd lythyrau hefyd yn gwatwar yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, fel hyn: "Fel y methodd duwiau cenhedloedd y gwledydd waredu eu pobl o'm gafael, ni fydd Duw Heseceia chwaith yn gwaredu ei bobl o'm gafael."
17He also wrote letters insulting Yahweh, the God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”
18 A gwaeddasant yn uchel mewn Hebraeg ar bobl Jerwsalem oedd ar y mur, i godi arswyd arnynt er mwyn cymryd y ddinas.
18They cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
19 Dywedasant fod Duw Jerwsalem yr un fath duwiau pobloedd y ddaear, sef gwaith dwylo dynol.
19They spoke of the God of Jerusalem, as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.
20 Oherwydd hyn gweddodd y Brenin Heseceia a'r proffwyd Eseia fab Amos llef uchel tua'r nefoedd.
20Hezekiah the king, and Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.
21 Ac anfonodd yr ARGLWYDD angel a lladd pob gwron, arweinydd a chapten yng ngwersyll brenin Asyria. Dychwelodd yntau mewn cywilydd i'w wlad. A phan aeth i du375? ei dduw, lladdwyd ef yno 'r cleddyf gan rai o'i blant ei hun.
21Yahweh sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains, in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came forth from his own bowels killed him there with the sword.
22 Felly gwaredodd yr ARGLWYDD Heseceia a thrigolion Jerwsalem o afael Senacherib brenin Asyria ac o afael eu holl elynion; amddiffynnodd hwy rhag pawb o'u hamgylch.
22Thus Yahweh saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.
23 Daeth llawer i Jerwsalem gydag offrymau i'r ARGLWYDD ac anrhegion gwerthfawr i Heseceia brenin Jwda. Ac ar l hynny cafodd y brenin ei barchu gan yr holl genhedloedd.
23Many brought gifts to Yahweh to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah; so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.
24 Yn y dyddiau hynny aeth Heseceia'n glaf hyd farw, a gweddodd ar yr ARGLWYDD. Atebodd yntau ef trwy roi arwydd iddo.
24In those days Hezekiah was sick even to death: and he prayed to Yahweh; and he spoke to him, and gave him a sign.
25 Ond am ei fod yn falch, ni werthfawrogodd Heseceia yr hyn a wnaed iddo, a daeth llid Duw arno ef ac ar Jwda a Jerwsalem.
25But Hezekiah didn’t render again according to the benefit done to him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath on him, and on Judah and Jerusalem.
26 Yna, edifarhaodd Heseceia am ei falchder, a phobl Jerwsalem gydag ef, ac ni ddaeth llid yr ARGLWYDD arnynt wedyn yng nghyfnod Heseceia.
26Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of Yahweh didn’t come on them in the days of Hezekiah.
27 Yr oedd gan Heseceia olud a chyfoeth mawr iawn, a gwnaeth iddo'i hun drysordai ar gyfer arian ac aur, meini gwerthfawr, peraroglau, tarianau a phob math o bethau godidog.
27Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honor: and he provided him treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all kinds of goodly vessels;
28 Gwnaeth ysguboriau i'r cynhaeaf gwenith, gwin ac olew, a hefyd stablau i bob math o anifail, a chorlannau i ddiadellau.
28storehouses also for the increase of grain and new wine and oil; and stalls for all kinds of animals, and flocks in folds.
29 Adeiladodd ddinasoedd iddo'i hun, a phrynodd lawer o ddefaid a gwartheg, oherwydd rhoddodd Duw olud mawr iawn iddo.
29Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him very much substance.
30 Heseceia oedd yr un a gaeodd darddiad uchaf dyfroedd Gihon, a'u cyfeirio i lawr tua'r gorllewin i Ddinas Dafydd. Bu Heseceia'n llwyddiannus ym mhopeth a wnaeth.
30This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of the city of David. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31 Hyd yn oed pan anfonwyd negeswyr ato gan swyddogion Babilon i holi ynghylch yr arwydd a welwyd yn y wlad, gadawodd Duw lonydd iddo er mwyn ei brofi a gwybod y cwbl oedd yn ei galon.
31However concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
32 Am weddill hanes Heseceia, a'i deyrngarwch, y mae wedi ei ysgrifennu yng ngweledigaeth y proffwyd Eseia fab Amos, yn llyfr brenhinoedd Jwda ac Israel.
32Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 Bu farw Heseceia, ac fe'i claddwyd ar y bryn lle mae beddau disgynyddion Dafydd. Pan fu farw, talodd holl Jwda a thrigolion Jerwsalem deyrnged iddo, a daeth ei fab Manasse yn frenin yn ei le.
33Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent of the tombs of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honor at his death. Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
