1 Paul, apostol Crist Iesu trwy ewyllys Duw, a'r brawd Timotheus, at eglwys Dduw sydd yng Nghorinth, ynghyd 'r holl saint ar hyd a lled Achaia.
1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, to the assembly of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia:
2 Gras a thangnefedd i chwi oddi wrth Dduw ein Tad, a'r Arglwydd Iesu Grist.
2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Bendigedig fyddo Duw a Thad ein Harglwydd Iesu Grist, y Tad sy'n trugarhau a'r Duw sy'n rhoi pob diddanwch.
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;
4 Y mae'n ein diddanu ym mhob gorthrymder, er mwyn i ninnau, trwy'r diddanwch a gawn ganddo ef, allu diddanu'r rhai sydd dan bob math o orthrymder.
4who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5 Oherwydd fel y mae dioddefiadau Crist yn gorlifo hyd atom ni, felly hefyd trwy Grist y mae ein diddanwch yn gorlifo.
5For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.
6 Os gorthrymir ni, er mwyn eich diddanwch chwi a'ch iachawdwriaeth y mae hynny; neu os diddenir ni, er mwyn eich diddanwch chwi y mae hynny hefyd, i'ch nerthu i ymgynnal dan yr un dioddefiadau ag yr ydym ni yn eu dioddef.
6But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer.
7 Y mae sail sicr i'n gobaith amdanoch, oherwydd fe wyddom fod i chwi gyfran yn y diddanwch yn union fel y mae gennych gyfran yn y dioddefiadau.
7Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that, since you are partakers of the sufferings, so also are you of the comfort.
8 Yr ydym am i chwi wybod, gyfeillion, am y gorthrymder a ddaeth i'n rhan yn Asia, iddo ein trechu a'n llethu mor llwyr nes inni anobeithio am gael byw hyd yn oed.
8For we don’t desire to have you uninformed, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.
9 Do, teimlasom ynom ein hunain ein bod wedi derbyn dedfryd marwolaeth; yr amcan oedd ein cadw rhag ymddiried ynom ein hunain, ond yn y Duw sy'n cyfodi'r meirw.
9Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,
10 Gwaredodd ef ni gynt oddi wrth y fath berygl marwol, ac fe'n gwared eto; ynddo ef y mae ein gobaith. Fe'n gwared eto,
10who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;
11 wrth i chwithau ymuno i'n cynorthwyo 'ch gweddi, ac felly bydd ein gwaredigaeth raslon, trwy weddi llawer, yn destun diolch gan lawer ar ein rhan.
11you also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed on us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on your behalf.
12 Dyma yw ein hymffrost ni: bod ein cydwybod yn tystio bod ein hymddygiad yn y byd, a mwy byth tuag atoch chwi, wedi ei lywio gan unplygrwydd a didwylledd duwiol, nid gan ddoethineb ddynol ond gan ras Duw.
12For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.
13 Oherwydd nid ydym yn ysgrifennu dim atoch na allwch ei ddarllen a'i ddeall. Yr wyf yn gobeithio y dewch i ddeall yn gyflawn,
13For we write no other things to you, than what you read or even acknowledge, and I hope you will acknowledge to the end;
14 fel yr ydych eisoes wedi deall yn rhannol amdanom, y byddwn ni yn destun ymffrost i chwi yn union fel y byddwch chwi i ninnau yn Nydd ein Harglwydd Iesu.
14as also you acknowledged us in part, that we are your boasting, even as you also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.
15 Am fy mod mor sicr o hyn, yr oeddwn yn bwriadu dod atoch chwi'n gyntaf, er mwyn i chwi gael bendith eilwaith.
15In this confidence, I was determined to come first to you, that you might have a second benefit;
16 Fy amcan oedd ymweld chwi ar fy ffordd i Facedonia, a dod yn l atoch o Facedonia, ac i chwithau fy hebrwng i Jwdea.
16and by you to pass into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to you, and to be sent forward by you on my journey to Judea.
17 Os hyn oedd fy mwriad, a fm yn wamal? Neu ai fel dyn bydol yr wyf yn gwneud fy nhrefniadau, nes medru dweud "Ie, ie" a "Nage, nage" ar yr un anadl?
17When I therefore was thus determined, did I show fickleness? Or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the “Yes, yes” and the “No, no?”
18 Ond fel y mae Duw'n ffyddlon, nid "Ie" a "Nage" hefyd yw ein gair ni i chwi.
18But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.”
19 Nid oedd Mab Duw, Iesu Grist, a bregethwyd yn eich plith gennym ni, gan Silfanus a Timotheus a minnau, nid oedd ef yn "Ie" ac yn "Nage". "Ie" yw'r gair a geir ynddo ef.
19For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.”
20 Ynddo ef y mae'r "Ie" i holl addewidion Duw. Dyna pam mai trwyddo ef yr ydym yn dweud yr "Amen" er gogoniant Duw.
20For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen,” to the glory of God through us.
21 Ond Duw yw'r hwn sydd yn ein cadarnhau ni gyda chwi yng Nghrist,
21Now he who establishes us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;
22 ac sydd wedi ein heneinio ni, a'n selio ni, a rhoi'r Ysbryd yn ernes yn ein calonnau.
22who also sealed us, and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts.
23 Yr wyf fi'n galw Duw yn dyst ar fy einioes, mai i'ch arbed chwi y penderfynais beidio dod i Gorinth.
23But I call God for a witness to my soul, that I didn’t come to Corinth to spare you.
24 Nid ein bod yn arglwyddiaethu ar eich ffydd chwi. Cydweithio chwi yr ydym er eich llawenydd, trwy'r ffydd yr ydych yn sefyll yn gadarn ynddi.
24Not that we have lordship over your faith, but are fellow workers with you for your joy. For you stand firm in faith.
