1 Pan ddeallodd Jacob fod u375?d yn yr Aifft, dywedodd wrth ei feibion, "Pam yr ydych yn edrych ar eich gilydd?
1Now Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, and Jacob said to his sons, “Why do you look at one another?”
2 Clywais fod u375?d i'w gael yn yr Aifft; ewch i lawr yno a phrynwch i ni, er mwyn inni gael byw ac nid marw."
2He said, “Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there, and buy for us from there, so that we may live, and not die.”
3 Felly aeth deg o frodyr Joseff i brynu u375?d yn yr Aifft;
3Joseph’s ten brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt.
4 ond nid anfonodd Jacob Benjamin, brawd Joseff, gyda'i frodyr, rhag ofn i niwed ddigwydd iddo.
4But Jacob didn’t send Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, with his brothers; for he said, “Lest perhaps harm happen to him.”
5 Daeth meibion Israel ymhlith eraill i brynu u375?d, am fod newyn trwy wlad Canaan.
5The sons of Israel came to buy among those who came, for the famine was in the land of Canaan.
6 Joseff oedd yr arolygwr dros y wlad, ac ef oedd yn gwerthu u375?d i bawb. A daeth brodyr Joseff ac ymgrymu iddo i'r llawr.
6Joseph was the governor over the land. It was he who sold to all the people of the land. Joseph’s brothers came, and bowed themselves down to him with their faces to the earth.
7 Pan welodd Joseff ei frodyr, adnabu hwy, ond ymddygodd fel dieithryn a siarad yn hallt wrthynt. Gofynnodd iddynt, "O ble y daethoch?" Ac atebasant, "O wlad Canaan i brynu bwyd."
7Joseph saw his brothers, and he recognized them, but acted like a stranger to them, and spoke roughly with them. He said to them, “Where did you come from?” They said, “From the land of Canaan to buy food.”
8 Yr oedd Joseff wedi adnabod ei frodyr, ond nid oeddent hwy'n ei adnabod ef.
8Joseph recognized his brothers, but they didn’t recognize him.
9 Cofiodd Joseff y breuddwydion a gafodd amdanynt, a dywedodd wrthynt, "Ysbiwyr ydych; yr ydych wedi dod i weld mannau gwan y wlad."
9Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed about them, and said to them, “You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land.”
10 Dywedasant hwythau wrtho, "Na, arglwydd, y mae dy weision wedi dod i brynu bwyd.
10They said to him, “No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food.
11 Meibion un gu373?r ydym ni i gyd, a dynion gonest; nid ysbiwyr yw dy weision."
11We are all one man’s sons; we are honest men. Your servants are not spies.”
12 Meddai yntau wrthynt, "Na, yr ydych wedi dod i weld mannau gwan y wlad."
12He said to them, “No, but you have come to see the nakedness of the land!”
13 Atebasant, "Deuddeg brawd oedd dy weision, meibion un gu373?r yng ngwlad Canaan; y mae'r ieuengaf eto gyda'n tad, ond nid yw'r llall yn fyw."
13They said, “We, your servants, are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is no more.”
14 Ond dywedodd Joseff wrthynt, "Y gwir amdani yw mai ysbiwyr ydych.
14Joseph said to them, “It is like I told you, saying, ‘You are spies!’
15 Fel hyn y rhoddir prawf arnoch: cyn wired bod Pharo'n fyw, ni chewch ymadael oni ddaw eich brawd ieuengaf yma.
15By this you shall be tested. By the life of Pharaoh, you shall not go out from here, unless your youngest brother comes here.
16 Anfonwch un o'ch plith i gyrchu eich brawd, tra byddwch chwi yng ngharchar; felly y profir eich geiriau, i wybod a ydynt yn wir. Os nad ydynt, cyn wired bod Pharo'n fyw, ysbiwyr ydych."
16Send one of you, and let him get your brother, and you shall be bound, that your words may be tested, whether there is truth in you, or else by the life of Pharaoh surely you are spies.”
17 A rhoddodd hwy i gyd yng ngharchar am dridiau.
17He put them all together into custody for three days.
18 Ar y trydydd diwrnod dywedodd Joseff wrthynt, "Fel hyn y gwnewch er mwyn ichwi gael byw, oherwydd yr wyf yn ofni Duw:
18Joseph said to them the third day, “Do this, and live, for I fear God.
19 os ydych yn wu375?r gonest, cadwer un brawd yng ngharchar, a chewch chwithau gludo u375?d at angen eich teuluoedd,
19If you are honest men, then let one of your brothers be bound in your prison; but you go, carry grain for the famine of your houses.
20 a dod 'ch brawd ieuengaf ataf. Felly y ceir gweld eich bod yn dweud y gwir, ac ni byddwch farw." Dyna a wnaed.
20Bring your youngest brother to me; so will your words be verified, and you won’t die.” They did so.
21 Yna dywedasant wrth ei gilydd, "Yn wir, yr ydym yn haeddu cosb o achos ein brawd, am inni weld ei ofid ef pan oedd yn ymbil arnom, a gwrthod gwrando; dyna pam y daeth y gofid hwn arnom."
21They said one to another, “We are certainly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we wouldn’t listen. Therefore this distress has come upon us.”
22 Dywedodd Reuben, "Oni ddywedais wrthych, 'Peidiwch gwneud cam 'r bachgen'? Ond ni wrandawsoch, ac yn awr rhaid ateb am ei waed."
22Reuben answered them, saying, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘Don’t sin against the child,’ and you wouldn’t listen? Therefore also, behold, his blood is required.”
23 Ni wyddent fod Joseff yn eu deall, am fod cyfieithydd rhyngddynt.
23They didn’t know that Joseph understood them; for there was an interpreter between them.
24 Troes yntau oddi wrthynt i wylo. Yna daeth yn l a siarad hwy, a chymerodd Simeon o'u mysg a'i rwymo o flaen eu llygaid.
24He turned himself away from them, and wept. Then he returned to them, and spoke to them, and took Simeon from among them, and bound him before their eyes.
25 Gorchmynnodd Joseff lenwi eu sachau ag u375?d, a rhoi arian pob un yn l yn ei sach, a rhoi bwyd iddynt at y daith. Felly y gwnaed iddynt.
25Then Joseph gave a command to fill their bags with grain, and to restore each man’s money into his sack, and to give them food for the way. So it was done to them.
26 Yna codasant yr u375?d ar eu hasynnod a mynd oddi yno.
26They loaded their donkeys with their grain, and departed from there.
27 Pan oedd un yn agor ei sach yn y llety, i roi bwyd i'w asyn, gwelodd ei arian yng ngenau'r sach,
27As one of them opened his sack to give his donkey food in the lodging place, he saw his money. Behold, it was in the mouth of his sack.
28 a dywedodd wrth ei frodyr, "Rhoddwyd fy arian yn l; y maent yma yn fy sach." Yna daeth ofn arnynt a throesant yn grynedig at ei gilydd, a dweud, "Beth yw hyn y mae Duw wedi ei wneud i ni?"
28He said to his brothers, “My money is restored! Behold, it is in my sack!” Their hearts failed them, and they turned trembling one to another, saying, “What is this that God has done to us?”
29 Pan ddaethant at eu tad Jacob yng ngwlad Canaan, adroddasant eu holl helynt wrtho, a dweud,
29They came to Jacob their father, to the land of Canaan, and told him all that had happened to them, saying,
30 "Siaradodd y gu373?r oedd yn arglwydd y wlad yn hallt wrthym, a chymryd mai ysbiwyr oeddem.
30“The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly with us, and took us for spies of the country.
31 Dywedasom ninnau wrtho, 'Gwu375?r gonest ydym ni, ac nid ysbiwyr.
31We said to him, ‘We are honest men. We are no spies.
32 Yr oeddem yn ddeuddeg brawd, meibion ein tad; bu farw un, ac y mae'r ieuengaf eto gyda'n tad yng ngwlad Canaan.'
32We are twelve brothers, sons of our father; one is no more, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.’
33 Yna dywedodd arglwydd y wlad wrthym, 'Fel hyn y caf wybod eich bod yn onest: gadewch un o'ch brodyr gyda mi, a chymerwch u375?d at angen eich teuluoedd, ac ewch ymaith.
33The man, the lord of the land, said to us, ‘By this I will know that you are honest men: leave one of your brothers with me, and take grain for the famine of your houses, and go your way.
34 Dewch 'ch brawd ieuengaf ataf, imi gael gwybod nad ysbiwyr ydych ond dynion gonest; yna rhof eich brawd ichwi, a chewch farchnata yn y wlad.'"
34Bring your youngest brother to me. Then I will know that you are not spies, but that you are honest men. So I will deliver your brother to you, and you shall trade in the land.’”
35 Pan aethant i wacu eu sachau yr oedd cod arian pob un yn ei sach. A phan welsant hwy a'u tad y codau arian, daeth ofn arnynt,
35It happened as they emptied their sacks, that behold, each man’s bundle of money was in his sack. When they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.
36 a dywedodd eu tad Jacob wrthynt, "Yr ydych yn fy ngwneud yn ddi-blant; bu farw Joseff, nid yw Simeon yma, ac yr ydych am ddwyn Benjamin ymaith. Y mae pob peth yn fy erbyn."
36Jacob, their father, said to them, “You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me.”
37 Dywedodd Reuben wrth ei dad, "Cei ladd fy nau fab i os na ddof ag ef yn l atat; rho ef yn fy ngofal, ac mi ddof ag ef yn l atat."
37Reuben spoke to his father, saying, “Kill my two sons, if I don’t bring him to you. Entrust him to my care, and I will bring him to you again.”
38 Meddai yntau, "Ni chaiff fy mab fynd gyda chwi, oherwydd bu farw ei frawd, ac nid oes neb ond ef ar l. Os digwydd niwed iddo ar eich taith, fe wnewch i'm penwynni ddisgyn i'r bedd mewn tristwch."
38He said, “My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left. If harm happens to him along the way in which you go, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol Sheol is the place of the dead. .”
