Jeremiah

37

1 Gosodwyd Sedeceia fab Joseia yn frenin ar yr orsedd yng ngwlad Jwda gan Nebuchadnesar yn lle Coneia fab Jehoiacim;
1Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king, instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2 ond ni wrandawodd ef, na'i weision na phobl y wlad, ar eiriau'r ARGLWYDD a lefarwyd trwy'r proffwyd Jeremeia.
2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to the words of Yahweh, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.
3 Anfonodd y Brenin Sedeceia Jehucal fab Selemeia a Seffaneia fab Maaseia yr offeiriad at y proffwyd Jeremeia, a dweud, "Gwedda yn awr drosom ar yr ARGLWYDD ein Duw."
3Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now to Yahweh our God for us.
4 Yr oedd Jeremeia'n rhodio'n rhydd ymhlith y bobl, oherwydd nid oedd eto wedi ei roi yng ngharchar.
4Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison.
5 Ac yr oedd llu Pharo wedi dod i fyny o'r Aifft, a phan glywodd y Caldeaid oedd yn gwarchae ar Jerwsalem am hyn, ciliasant oddi wrth Jerwsalem.
5Pharaoh’s army had come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they broke up from Jerusalem.
6 Yna daeth gair yr ARGLWYDD at y proffwyd Jeremeia a dweud,
6Then came the word of Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
7 "Dyma'r hyn a ddywed yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel: 'Dywedwch fel hyn wrth frenin Jwda, sydd wedi eich anfon i ymofyn mi: Bydd llu Pharo, a ddaeth atoch yn gymorth, yn dychwelyd i'w wlad ei hun, i'r Aifft.
7Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
8 Yna bydd y Caldeaid yn dychwelyd ac yn rhyfela yn erbyn y ddinas hon, yn ei hennill ac yn ei llosgi thn.
8The Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city; and they shall take it, and burn it with fire.
9 Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD: Peidiwch 'ch twyllo'ch hunain, gan ddweud, "Y mae'r Caldeaid yn siu373?r o gilio oddi wrthym", oherwydd ni chiliant.
9Thus says Yahweh, Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us; for they shall not depart.
10 Oherwydd pe baech yn trechu holl lu'r Caldeaid sydd yn rhyfela yn eich erbyn, heb adael neb ond y rhai archolledig, eto byddent yn codi bob un o'i babell ac yn llosgi'r ddinas hon thn.'"
10For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yes would they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
11 Pan giliodd llu'r Caldeaid oddi wrth Jerwsalem o achos llu Pharo,
11It happened that, when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
12 yr oedd Jeremeia'n gadael Jerwsalem i fynd i dir Benjamin i gymryd meddiant o'i dreftadaeth yno ymysg y bobl;
12then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the midst of the people.
13 a phan gyrhaeddodd borth Benjamin, yr oedd swyddog y gwarchodlu yno, dyn o'r enw Ireia fab Selemeia, fab Hananeia; daliodd ef y proffwyd Jeremeia a dweud, "Troi at y Caldeaid yr wyt ti."
13When he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You are falling away to the Chaldeans.
14 Atebodd Jeremeia ef, "Celwydd yw hynny; nid wyf yn troi at y Caldeaid." Ond ni wrandawai Ireia arno, ond fe'i daliodd a mynd ag ef at y swyddogion.
14Then Jeremiah said, It is false; I am not falling away to the Chaldeans. But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15 Ffyrnigodd y swyddogion at Jeremeia, a'i guro a'i garcharu yn nhu375? Jonathan yr ysgrifennydd, y tu375? a wnaethpwyd yn garchardy.
15The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.
16 Felly yr aeth Jeremeia i'r ddaeargell ac aros yno dros amryw o ddyddiau.
16When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house, and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
17 Yna anfonodd y Brenin Sedeceia, a'i dderbyn i'w u373?ydd a'i holi'n gyfrinachol yn ei du375?, a dweud, "A oes gair oddi wrth yr ARGLWYDD?" Atebodd Jeremeia, "Oes; fe'th roddir yn llaw brenin Babilon."
17Then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Yahweh? Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
18 A dywedodd Jeremeia wrth y Brenin Sedeceia, "Pa ddrwg a wneuthum i ti neu i'th weision neu i'r bobl hyn, i beri i chwi fy rhoi yng ngharchar?
18Moreover Jeremiah said to king Zedekiah, Wherein have I sinned against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
19 Ple mae eich proffwydi a broffwydodd i chwi a dweud na ddi brenin Babilon yn eich erbyn, nac yn erbyn y wlad hon?
19Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
20 Yn awr, gwrando, f'arglwydd frenin, a doed fy nghais o'th flaen. Paid 'm hanfon yn l i du375? Jonathan yr ysgrifennydd, rhag i mi farw yno."
20Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
21 Yna rhoes y Brenin Sedeceia orchymyn, a rhoddwyd Jeremeia yng ngofal llys y gwylwyr, a rhoddwyd iddo ddogn dyddiol o un dorth o fara o Stryd y Pobyddion, nes darfod yr holl fara yn y ddinas. Ac arhosodd Jeremeia yng nghyntedd y gwylwyr.
21Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard; and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
