Joshua

7

1 Bu'r Israeliaid yn anffyddlon ynglu375?n 'r diofryd; cymerwyd rhan ohono gan Achan fab Carmi, fab Sabdi, fab Sera o lwyth Jwda, a digiodd yr ARGLWYDD wrth yr Israeliaid.
1But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted things; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against the children of Israel.
2 Anfonodd Josua ddynion o Jericho i Ai ger Beth-afen, i'r dwyrain o Fethel. Dywedodd wrthynt, "Ewch i fyny ac ysbwch y wlad." Aeth y dynion i fyny ac ysbo Ai.
2Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the land.” The men went up and spied out Ai.
3 Yna daethant yn l at Josua a dweud wrtho, "Peidied y fyddin gyfan mynd i fyny; os dwy neu dair mil o ddynion i fyny, fe orchfygant Ai. Paid llusgo'r holl fyddin i fyny yno, oherwydd ychydig ydynt."
3They returned to Joshua, and said to him, “Don’t let all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and strike Ai. Don’t make all the people to toil there, for there are only a few of them.”
4 Aeth tua thair mil o'r fyddin i fyny yno, ond ffoesant o flaen dynion Ai.
4So about three thousand men of the people went up there, and they fled before the men of Ai.
5 Lladdodd dynion Ai ryw dri dwsin ohonynt trwy eu hymlid o'r porth hyd at Sebarim, a'u lladd ar y llechwedd. Suddodd calon y bobl a throi megis du373?r.
5The men of Ai struck about thirty-six men of them, and they chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and struck them at the descent. The hearts of the people melted, and became like water.
6 Rhwygodd Josua ei fantell, a syrthiodd ar ei wyneb ar lawr gerbron arch yr ARGLWYDD hyd yr hwyr, a'r un modd y gwnaeth henuriaid Israel, gan luchio llwch ar eu pennau.
6Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of Yahweh until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.
7 Dywedodd Josua, "Och! F'Arglwydd DDUW, pam y trafferthaist i ddod 'r bobl hyn dros yr Iorddonen, i'n rhoi yn llaw'r Amoriaid i'n difetha? Gresyn na fuasem wedi bodloni aros yr ochr draw i'r Iorddonen.
7Joshua said, “Alas, Lord Yahweh, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? I wish that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan!
8 O Arglwydd, beth a ddywedaf, wedi i'r Israeliaid droi eu cefn o flaen eu gelynion?
8Oh, Lord, what shall I say, after that Israel has turned their backs before their enemies!
9 Pan glyw y Canaaneaid a holl drigolion y wlad, fe'n hamgylchynant, a dileu ein henw o'r wlad; a beth a wnei di am d'enw mawr?"
9For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. What will you do for your great name?”
10 Ac meddai'r ARGLWYDD wrth Josua, "Cod; pam yr wyt ti wedi syrthio ar dy wyneb fel hyn?
10Yahweh said to Joshua, “Get up! Why are you fallen on your face like that?
11 Pechodd Israel trwy dorri fy nghyfamod a orchmynnais iddynt; mwy na hynny, y maent wedi cymryd rhan o'r diofryd, ei ladrata trwy dwyll, a'i osod gyda'u pethau eu hunain.
11Israel has sinned. Yes, they have even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them. Yes, they have even taken of the devoted things, and have also stolen, and also deceived. They have even put it among their own stuff.
12 Ni all yr Israeliaid sefyll o flaen eu gelynion; byddant yn troi eu gwar o flaen eu gelynion, oherwydd aethant yn ddiofryd. Ni fyddaf gyda chwi mwyach oni ddilwch y diofryd o'ch plith.
12Therefore the children of Israel can’t stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction. I will not be with you any more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you.
13 Cod, cysegra'r bobl a dywed wrthynt, 'Ymgysegrwch erbyn yfory, oherwydd fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel: "Y mae diofryd yn eich plith, Israel; ni fedrwch sefyll o flaen eich gelynion nes ichwi symud y diofryd o'ch plith."
13“Get up! Sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, for Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, “There is a devoted thing in the midst of you, Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted thing from among you.”
14 Yfory rhaid ichwi ddod gerbron yr ARGLWYDD fesul llwyth; yna daw'r llwyth a ddelir ganddo fesul tylwyth, y tylwyth fesul teulu, a'r teulu fesul un.
14“‘In the morning therefore you shall be brought near by your tribes. It shall be that the tribe which Yahweh selects shall come near by families. The family which Yahweh selects shall come near by households. The household which Yahweh selects shall come near man by man.
15 A phwy bynnag a ddelir gyda'r diofryd, fe'i llosgir ef a'r cwbl a berthyn iddo, am iddo droseddu yn erbyn cyfamod yr ARGLWYDD a gwneud tro ysgeler yn Israel.'"
15It shall be, that he who is taken with the devoted thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of Yahweh, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”
16 Cododd Josua yn fore drannoeth, a dod 'r Israeliaid gerbron fesul llwyth. Daliwyd llwyth Jwda.
16So Joshua rose up early in the morning and brought Israel near by their tribes. The tribe of Judah was selected.
17 Daeth thylwythau Jwda gerbron, a daliwyd tylwyth y Sarhiaid; yna daeth thylwyth y Sarhiaid fesul teulu, a daliwyd Sabdi.
17He brought near the family of Judah; and he selected the family of the Zerahites. He brought near the family of the Zerahites man by man, and Zabdi was selected.
18 Pan ddaeth 'i deulu ef gerbron fesul un, daliwyd Achan fab Carmi, fab Sabdi, fab Sera o lwyth Jwda.
18He brought near his household man by man, and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was selected.
19 Dywedodd Josua wrth Achan, "Fy mab, rho'n awr glod a gogoniant i'r ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel. Dywed imi'n awr beth a wnaethost; paid 'i gelu oddi wrthyf."
19Joshua said to Achan, “My son, please give glory to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and make confession to him. Tell me now what you have done! Don’t hide it from me!”
20 Atebodd Achan, "Yn wir yr wyf wedi pechu yn erbyn yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel; dyma a wneuthum:
20Achan answered Joshua, and said, “I have truly sinned against Yahweh, the God of Israel, and this is what I have done.
21 ymysg yr ysbail gwelais fantell hardd o Sinar, dau can sicl o arian, a llafn aur yn pwyso hanner can sicl. Cododd blys arnaf amdanynt, ac fe'u cymerais. Y maent wedi eu cuddio yn y ddaear i mewn yn fy mhabell, gyda'r arian oddi tanodd."
21When I saw among the spoil a beautiful Babylonian robe, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”
22 Anfonodd Josua negeswyr; ac wedi iddynt redeg at y babell, fe'u gwelsant wedi eu cuddio, a'r arian oddi tanodd.
22So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent. Behold, it was hidden in his tent, with the silver under it.
23 Cymerasant hwy allan o'r babell a dod hwy at Josua a'r holl Israeliaid, a'u gosod gerbron yr ARGLWYDD.
23They took them from the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel. They laid them down before Yahweh.
24 Yna bu i Josua, ac Israel gyfan gydag ef, gymryd Achan fab Sera, a'r arian a'r fantell a'r llafn aur, a'i feibion a'i ferched, a'i ychen a'i asynnod a'i ddefaid a'i babell, y cwbl a feddai, ac aethant ag ef i fyny i ddyffryn Achor.
24Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his cattle, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had; and they brought them up to the valley of Achor.
25 Dywedodd Josua, "Am i ti ein cythryblu ni, bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn dy gythryblu dithau y dydd hwn." A llabyddiodd Israel gyfan ef cherrig, a llosgi'r lleill thn ar l eu llabyddio.
25Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? Yahweh will trouble you this day.” All Israel stoned him with stones, and they burned them with fire and stoned them with stones.
26 Codasant drosto garnedd fawr o gerrig sydd yno hyd heddiw; yna peidiodd digofaint yr ARGLWYDD. Dyna pam y gelwir y lle hwnnw'n ddyffryn Achor hyd y dydd hwn.
26They raised over him a great heap of stones that remains to this day. Yahweh turned from the fierceness of his anger. Therefore the name of that place was called “The valley of Achor” to this day.
