Joshua

6

1 Yr oedd Jericho wedi ei chloi'n dynn rhag yr Israeliaid, heb neb yn mynd i mewn nac allan.
1Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.
2 Ac meddai'r ARGLWYDD wrth Josua, "Edrych, yr wyf wedi rhoi Jericho a'i brenin a'i rhyfelwyr grymus yn dy law.
2Yahweh said to Joshua, “Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor.
3 Ewch chwi, yr holl filwyr, o amgylch y ddinas un waith, a gwneud hynny am chwe diwrnod.
3All your men of war shall march around the city, going around the city once. You shall do this six days.
4 A bydded i saith offeiriad gario saith utgorn o gorn hwrdd o flaen yr arch. Yna ar y seithfed dydd amgylchwch y ddinas seithwaith, a'r offeiriaid yn seinio'r utgyrn.
4Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
5 Pan ddaw caniad hir ar y corn hwrdd, a chwithau'n clywed sain yr utgorn, bloeddied y fyddin gyfan bloedd uchel, ac fe syrth mur y ddinas i lawr; yna aed pob un o'r fyddin i fyny ar ei gyfer."
5It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.”
6 Galwodd Josua fab Nun ar yr offeiriaid a dweud wrthynt, "Codwch arch y cyfamod, a bydded i saith offeiriad gario saith utgorn o gorn hwrdd o flaen arch yr ARGLWYDD."
6Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of Yahweh.”
7 Dywedodd wrth y fyddin, "Ewch ymlaen ac amgylchwch y ddinas, gyda'r rhai arfog yn mynd o flaen arch yr ARGLWYDD."
7They said to the people, “Advance! March around the city, and let the armed men pass on before Yahweh’s ark.”
8 Ac wedi i Josua lefaru wrth y fyddin, cerddodd y saith offeiriad oedd yn cario'r saith utgorn o gorn hwrdd o flaen yr ARGLWYDD, gan seinio'r utgyrn, ac arch cyfamod yr ARGLWYDD yn eu dilyn.
8It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh advanced, and blew the trumpets; and the ark of the covenant of Yahweh followed them.
9 Yr oedd y gwu375?r arfog yn mynd o flaen yr offeiriaid oedd yn seinio'r utgyrn, a'r l-osgordd yn dilyn yr arch; yr oedd yr utgyrn yn seinio wrth iddynt fynd.
9The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the ark went after them. The trumpets sounded as they went.
10 Yr oedd Josua wedi gorchymyn i'r fyddin, "Peidiwch gweiddi na chodi eich llais nac yngan yr un gair tan y diwrnod y dywedaf wrthych am floeddio; yna bloeddiwch."
10Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout, nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”
11 Aethant ag arch yr ARGLWYDD o amgylch y ddinas un waith, ac yna dychwelyd i'r gwersyll i fwrw'r nos.
11So he caused the ark of Yahweh to go around the city, going about it once. Then they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
12 Cododd Josua'n fore, a chymerodd yr offeiriaid arch yr ARGLWYDD;
12Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of Yahweh.
13 yna aeth y saith offeiriad, a oedd yn cario'r saith utgorn o gorn hwrdd, o flaen arch yr ARGLWYDD gan seinio'r utgyrn, gyda'r gwu375?r arfog o'u blaen a'r l-osgordd yn dilyn yr arch; yr oedd yr utgyrn yn seinio wrth iddynt fynd.
13The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of Yahweh went on continually, and blew the trumpets: and the armed men went before them. The rear guard came after the ark of Yahweh. The trumpets sounded as they went.
14 Ar l amgylchu'r ddinas un waith ar yr ail ddiwrnod, aethant yn eu hl i'r gwersyll. Gwnaethant felly am chwe diwrnod.
14The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.
15 Ar y seithfed dydd, codasant gyda'r wawr ac amgylchu'r ddinas yr un modd saith o weithiau; y diwrnod hwnnw'n unig yr amgylchwyd y ddinas seithwaith.
15It happened on the seventh day, that they rose early at the dawning of the day, and marched around the city in the same way seven times. Only on this day they marched around the city seven times.
16 Yna ar y seithfed tro, pan seiniodd yr offeiriaid yr utgyrn, dywedodd Josua wrth y fyddin, "Bloeddiwch, oherwydd y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi rhoi'r ddinas i chwi.
16It happened at the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for Yahweh has given you the city!
17 Y mae'r ddinas a phopeth sydd ynddi i fod yn ddiofryd i'r ARGLWYDD. Rahab y butain yn unig sydd i gael byw, hi a phawb sydd gyda hi yn y tu375?, am iddi guddio'r negeswyr a anfonwyd gennym.
17The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to Yahweh. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18 Ond gochelwch chwi rhag yr hyn sy'n ddiofryd; peidiwch chymryd ohono ar l ei ddiofrydu, rhag gwneud gwersyll Israel yn ddiofryd a dwyn helbul arno.
18But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so would you make the camp of Israel accursed, and trouble it.
19 Y mae'r holl arian ac aur, a'r offer pres a haearn, yn gysegredig i'r ARGLWYDD, ac i fynd i drysorfa'r ARGLWYDD."
19But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”
20 Bloeddiodd y bobl pan seiniodd yr utgyrn; ac wedi i'r fyddin glywed sain yr utgyrn, a bloeddio bloedd uchel, syrthiodd y mur i lawr ac aeth y fyddin i fyny am y ddinas, bob un ar ei gyfer, a'i chipio.
20So the people shouted, and the priests blew the trumpets. It happened, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
21 Distrywiwyd 'r cleddyf bopeth yn y ddinas, yn wu375?r a gwragedd, yn hen ac ifainc, yn ychen, defaid ac asynnod.
21They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, and sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
22 Dywedodd Josua wrth y ddau ddyn a fu'n ysbo'r wlad, "Ewch i du375?'r butain, a dewch hi allan, hi a phawb sy'n perthyn iddi, yn unol 'ch addewid iddi."
22Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring out from there the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.”
23 Aeth yr ysbwyr, a dwyn allan Rahab a'i thad a'i mam a'i brodyr a phawb oedd yn perthyn iddi; yn wir daethant 'i thylwyth i gyd oddi yno a'u gosod y tu allan i wersyll Israel.
23The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.
24 Yna llosgasant y ddinas a phopeth ynddi thn, ond rhoesant yr arian a'r aur a'r offer pres a haearn yn nhrysorfa tu375?'r ARGLWYDD.
24They burnt the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only they put the silver, the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron into the treasury of Yahweh’s house.
25 Ond arbedodd Josua Rahab y butain a'i theulu a phawb oedd yn perthyn iddi, am iddi guddio'r negeswyr a anfonodd Josua i ysbo Jericho; ac y maent yn byw ymhlith yr Israeliaid hyd y dydd hwn.
25But Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lived in the midst of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers, whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26 A'r pryd hwnnw cyhoeddodd Josua y llw hwn, a dweud: "Melltigedig gerbron yr ARGLWYDD fyddo'r sawl a gyfyd ac a adeilada'r ddinas hon, Jericho; ar draul ei gyntafanedig y gesyd ei seiliau hi, ac ar draul ei fab ieuengaf y cyfyd ei phyrth."
26Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yahweh, who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn shall he lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up its gates.”
27 Bu'r ARGLWYDD gyda Josua, ac aeth sn amdano trwy'r holl wlad.
27So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
