1 Aeth angel yr ARGLWYDD i fyny o Gilgal i Bochim, a dywedodd, "Dygais chwi allan o'r Aifft, a dod � chwi i'r wlad a addewais i'ch hynafiaid. Dywedais hefyd, 'Ni thorraf fy nghyfamod � chwi byth;
1The angel of Yahweh came up from Gilgal to Bochim. He said, “I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you to the land which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you:
2 peidiwch chwithau � gwneud cyfamod � thrigolion y wlad hon, ond bwriwch i lawr eu hallorau.' Eto nid ydych wedi gwrando arnaf. Pam y gwnaethoch hyn?
2and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.’ But you have not listened to my voice: why have you done this?
3 Yr wyf wedi penderfynu na yrraf hwy allan o'ch blaen, ond byddant yn ddrain yn eich ystlysau, a'u duwiau yn fagl ichwi."
3Therefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.”
4 Pan lefarodd angel yr ARGLWYDD y geiriau hyn wrth yr holl Israeliaid, torrodd y bobl allan i wylo'n uchel.
4It happened, when the angel of Yahweh spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
5 Am hynny enwyd y lle hwnnw Bochim; ac offrymasant yno aberth i'r ARGLWYDD.
5They called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there to Yahweh.
6 Gollyngodd Josua y bobl ac aeth pob un o'r Israeliaid i'w etifeddiaeth i gymryd meddiant o'r wlad.
6Now when Joshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went every man to his inheritance to possess the land.
7 Addolodd y bobl yr ARGLWYDD holl ddyddiau Josua, a holl ddyddiau'r henuriaid oedd wedi goroesi Josua ac wedi gweld yr holl waith mawr a wnaeth yr ARGLWYDD dros Israel.
7The people served Yahweh all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of Yahweh that he had worked for Israel.
8 Bu farw Josua fab Nun, gwas yr ARGLWYDD, yn gant a deg oed,
8Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Yahweh, died, being one hundred ten years old.
9 a chladdwyd ef o fewn terfynau ei etifeddiaeth, yn Timnath-heres ym mynydd-dir Effraim, i'r gogledd o Fynydd Gaas.
9They buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath Heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.
10 Casglwyd yr holl genhedlaeth honno at eu hynafiaid, a chododd cenhedlaeth arall ar eu h�l, nad oedd yn adnabod yr ARGLWYDD na chwaith yn gwybod am yr hyn a wnaeth dros Israel.
10Also all that generation were gathered to their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, who didn’t know Yahweh, nor yet the work which he had worked for Israel.
11 Gwnaeth yr Israeliaid yr hyn oedd ddrwg yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD; aethant i addoli'r Baalim,
11The children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and served the Baals;
12 gan adael yr ARGLWYDD, Duw eu hynafiaid, a'u dygodd allan o wlad yr Aifft, a mynd ar �l duwiau estron o blith duwiau'r cenhedloedd oedd o'u cwmpas, ac ymgrymu iddynt hwy, a digio'r ARGLWYDD.
12and they forsook Yahweh, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed themselves down to them: and they provoked Yahweh to anger.
13 Gadawsant yr ARGLWYDD ac addoli Baal ac Astaroth.
13They forsook Yahweh, and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.
14 Cyneuodd llid yr ARGLWYDD yn erbyn Israel, a rhoddodd hwy yn llaw rhai a fu'n eu hanrheithio, a gwerthodd hwy i law eu gelynion oddi amgylch, fel nad oeddent bellach yn medru gwrthsefyll eu gelynion.
14The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers who despoiled them; and he sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
15 I ble bynnag yr aent, yr oedd llaw yr ARGLWYDD yn eu herbyn er drwg, fel yr oedd wedi addo a thyngu iddynt. Ac aeth yn gyfyng iawn arnynt.
15Wherever they went out, the hand of Yahweh was against them for evil, as Yahweh had spoken, and as Yahweh had sworn to them: and they were very distressed.
16 Yna fe gododd yr ARGLWYDD farnwyr a'u hachubodd o law eu hanrheithwyr.
16Yahweh raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those who despoiled them.
17 Eto nid oeddent yn gwrando hyd yn oed ar eu barnwyr, ond yn hytrach yn puteinio ar �l duwiau estron ac yn ymgrymu iddynt, gan gefnu'n fuan ar y ffordd a gerddodd eu hynafiaid mewn ufudd-dod i orchmynion yr ARGLWYDD; ni wnaent hwy felly.
17Yet they didn’t listen to their judges; for they played the prostitute after other gods, and bowed themselves down to them: they turned aside quickly out of the way in which their fathers walked, obeying the commandments of Yahweh. They didn’t do so.
18 Pan fyddai'r ARGLWYDD yn codi barnwr iddynt, byddai ef gyda'r barnwr ac yn eu gwaredu o law eu gelynion holl ddyddiau y barnwr hwnnw; oherwydd byddai'r ARGLWYDD yn tosturio wrthynt yn eu griddfan o achos eu gormeswyr a'u cystuddwyr.
18When Yahweh raised them up judges, then Yahweh was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it grieved Yahweh because of their groaning by reason of those who oppressed them and troubled them.
19 Eto, pan fyddai farw'r barnwr, yn �l yr aent ac ymddwyn yn fwy llygredig na'u hynafiaid, gan fynd ar �l duwiau estron i'w haddoli ac ymgrymu iddynt, heb roi heibio yr un o'u harferion na'u ffyrdd gwrthnysig.
19But it happened, when the judge was dead, that they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them; they didn’t cease from their doings, nor from their stubborn way.
20 Cyneuodd llid yr ARGLWYDD yn erbyn Israel, a dywedodd, "Am i'r genedl hon droseddu fy nghyfamod a orchmynnais i'w hynafiaid, heb wrando ar fy llais,
20The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel; and he said, “Because this nation have transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not listened to my voice;
21 nid wyf finnau am ddisodli o'u blaen yr un o'r cenhedloedd a adawodd Josua pan fu farw."
21I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations that Joshua left when he died;
22 Gadawyd hwy i brofi'r Israeliaid, i weld a fyddent yn cadw ffordd yr ARGLWYDD ai peidio, ac yn rhodio ynddi fel y gwnaeth eu hynafiaid.
22that by them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of Yahweh to walk therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.”
23 Gadawodd yr ARGLWYDD y cenhedloedd hyn heb eu disodli ar unwaith, na'u rhoi yn llaw Josua.
23So Yahweh left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
