Nehemiah

1

1 Geiriau Nehemeia fab Hachaleia. Ym mis Cislef yn yr ugeinfed flwyddyn, pan oeddwn yn y palas yn Susan,
1The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah. Now it happened in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
2 cyrhaeddodd Hanani, un o'm brodyr, a gwu375?r o Jwda gydag ef. Holais hwy am Jerwsalem ac am yr Iddewon, y rhai dihangol a adawyd ar l heb fynd i'r gaethglud.
2that Hanani, one of my brothers, came, he and certain men out of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 Dywedasant hwythau wrthyf, "Y mae'r gweddill a adawyd ar l yn y dalaith, heb eu caethgludo, mewn trybini mawr a gofid; drylliwyd mur Jerwsalem a llosgwyd ei phyrth thn."
3They said to me, “The remnant who are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.”
4 Pan glywais hyn eisteddais i lawr ac wylo, a bm yn galaru ac yn ymprydio am ddyddiau, ac yn gweddo ar Dduw y nefoedd.
4It happened, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven,
5 Dywedais, "O ARGLWYDD Dduw y nefoedd, y Duw mawr ac ofnadwy, sy'n cadw cyfamod ac sy'n ffyddlon i'r rhai sy'n ei garu ac yn cadw ei orchmynion,
5and said, “I beg you, Yahweh, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments:
6 yn awr bydded dy glust yn gwrando a'th lygaid yn agored i dderbyn y weddi yr wyf fi, dy was, yn ei gweddo o'th flaen ddydd a nos, dros blant Israel, dy weision. Yr wyf yn cyffesu'r pechodau a wnaethom ni, bobl Israel, yn dy erbyn; yr wyf fi a thu375? fy nhad wedi pechu yn dy erbyn,
6Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that you may listen to the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants while I confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Yes, I and my father’s house have sinned.
7 ac ymddwyn yn llygredig iawn tuag atat trwy beidio chadw'r gorchmynion a'r deddfau a'r cyfreithiau a orchmynnaist i'th was Moses.
7We have dealt very corruptly against you, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the ordinances, which you commanded your servant Moses.
8 Cofia'r rhybudd a roddaist i'th was Moses pan ddywedaist, 'Os byddwch yn anffyddlon, byddaf fi'n eich gwasgaru ymysg y bobloedd;
8“Remember, I beg you, the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you trespass, I will scatter you abroad among the peoples;
9 ond os dychwelwch ataf a chadw fy ngorchmynion a'u gwneud, byddaf yn casglu'r rhai a wasgarwyd hyd gyrion byd, ac yn eu cyrchu i'r lle a ddewisais i roi fy enw yno.'
9but if you return to me, and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts were in the uttermost part of the heavens, yet will I gather them from there, and will bring them to the place that I have chosen, to cause my name to dwell there.’
10 Dy weision a'th bobl di ydynt rhai a waredaist 'th allu mawr ac 'th law nerthol.
10“Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power, and by your strong hand.
11 O ARGLWYDD, gwrando ar weddi dy was a'th weision sy'n ymhyfrydu mewn parchu dy enw, a rho lwyddiant i'th was heddiw a phr iddo gael trugaredd gerbron y gu373?r hwn." Yr oeddwn i yn drulliad i'r brenin.
11 Lord , I beg you, let your ear be attentive now to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants, who delight to fear your name; and please prosper your servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” Now I was cup bearer to the king.
