Nehemiah

4

1 Pan glywodd Sanbalat ein bod yn ailgodi'r mur, gwylltiodd a ffromi drwyddo.
1But it happened that when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
2 Dechreuodd wawdio'r Iddewon yng ngu373?ydd ei gymrodyr a byddin Samaria a dweud, "Beth y mae'r Iddewon gweiniaid hyn yn ei wneud? A adewir llonydd iddynt? A ydynt am aberthu a gorffen y gwaith mewn diwrnod? A ydynt am wneud cerrig o'r pentyrrau rwbel, a hwythau wedi eu llosgi?"
2He spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, since they are burned?”
3 A dywedodd Tobeia yr Ammoniad, a oedd yn ei ymyl, "Beth bynnag y maent yn ei adeiladu, dim ond i lwynog ddringo'u mur cerrig, fe'i dymchwel."
3Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, “What they are building, if a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall.”
4 Gwrando, O ein Duw, oherwydd y maent yn ein dirmygu. Tro eu gwaradwydd yn l ar eu pennau eu hunain, a gwna hwy'n anrhaith mewn gwlad caethiwed.
4“Hear, our God; for we are despised; and turn back their reproach on their own head, give them up for a spoil in a land of captivity;
5 Paid chuddio eu camwedd na dileu eu pechod o'th u373?ydd, oherwydd y maent wedi dy sarhau di gerbron yr adeiladwyr.
5don’t cover their iniquity, and don’t let their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have insulted the builders.”
6 Felly codasom yr holl fur a'i orffen hyd at ei hanner, oherwydd yr oedd gan y bobl galon i weithio.
6So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height: for the people had a mind to work.
7 Ond pan glywodd Sanbalat a Tobeia a'r Arabiaid a'r Ammoniaid a'r Asdodiaid fod atgyweirio muriau Jerwsalem yn mynd rhagddo, a'r bylchau yn dechrau cael eu llenwi, yr oeddent yn ddig iawn,
7But it happened that when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, then they were very angry;
8 a gwnaethant gynllun gyda'i gilydd i ddod i ryfela yn erbyn Jerwsalem a chreu helbul i ni.
8and they conspired all of them together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion therein.
9 Felly bu inni weddo ar ein Duw o'u hachos, a gosod gwylwyr yn eu herbyn ddydd a nos.
9But we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
10 Ond dywedodd pobl Jwda, "Pallodd nerth y cludwyr, ac y mae llawer o rwbel; ni allwn byth ailgodi'r mur ein hunain.
10Judah said, “The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.”
11 Y mae'n gwrthwynebwyr wedi dweud, 'Heb iddynt wybod na gweld, fe awn i'w canol a'u lladd a rhwystro'r gwaith'."
11Our adversaries said, “They shall not know, neither see, until we come into their midst, and kill them, and cause the work to cease.”
12 A daeth Iddewon oedd yn byw yn eu hymyl atom i'n rhybuddio ddengwaith y doent yn ein herbyn o bob cyfeiriad.
12It happened that when the Jews who lived by them came, they said to us ten times from all places, “Wherever you turn, they will attack us.”
13 Felly gosodais rai yn y lleoedd isaf y tu l i'r mur mewn mannau gwan, a gosodais y bobl fesul teulu gyda'u cleddyfau a'u gwaywffyn a'u bwu.
13Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places, I set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
14 Wedi imi weld ynglu375?n hyn, euthum i ddweud wrth y pendefigion a'r swyddogion a gweddill y bobl, "Peidiwch 'u hofni; cadwch eich meddwl ar yr ARGLWYDD sy'n fawr ac ofnadwy, ac ymladdwch dros eich pobl, eich meibion a'ch merched, eich gwragedd a'ch cartrefi."
14I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them! Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
15 Pan glywodd ein gelynion ein bod yn gwybod am y peth, a bod Duw wedi drysu eu cynlluniau, aethom ni i gyd yn l at y mur, bob un at ei waith.
15It happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, everyone to his work.
16 Ac o'r dydd hwnnw ymlaen yr oedd hanner fy ngweision yn llafurio yn y gwaith, a'r hanner arall gwaywffyn a tharianau a bwu yn eu dwylo ac yn gwisgo llurigau; ac yr oedd y swyddogion yn arolygu holl bobl Jwda
16It happened from that time forth, that half of my servants worked in the work, and half of them held the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the coats of mail; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
17 oedd yn ailgodi'r mur. Yr oedd y rhai a gariai'r beichiau yn gweithio ag un llaw, ac yn dal arf 'r llall.
17They all built the wall and those who bore burdens loaded themselves; everyone with one of his hands worked in the work, and with the other held his weapon;
18 Yr oedd pob un o'r adeiladwyr yn gweithio 'i gleddyf ar ei glun. Yr oedd yr un a seiniai'r utgorn yn fy ymyl i,
18and the builders, everyone wore his sword at his side, and so built. He who sounded the trumpet was by me.
19 a dywedais wrth y pendefigion a'r swyddogion a gweddill y bobl, "Y mae'r gwaith yn fawr ac ar wasgar, a ninnau wedi ein gwahanu ar y mur, pob un ymhell oddi wrth ei gymydog.
19I said to the nobles, and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, “The work is great and large, and we are separated on the wall, one far from another.
20 Ple bynnag y clywch su373?n yr utgorn, ymgasglwch atom yno; bydd ein Duw yn ymladd drosom."
20Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally there to us. Our God will fight for us.”
21 Felly yr aeth y gwaith rhagddo, gyda hanner y bobl yn dal gwaywffyn o doriad gwawr hyd ddyfodiad y sr.
21So we worked in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning until the stars appeared.
22 Y pryd hwnnw hefyd dywedais wrth y bobl fod pob dyn a'i was i letya y tu mewn i Jerwsalem er mwyn cadw gwyliadwriaeth liw nos a gweithio liw dydd.
22Likewise at the same time said I to the people, “Let everyone with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and may labor in the day.”
23 Ac nid oedd yr un ohonom, myfi na'm brodyr na'm gweision na'r gwylwyr o'm cwmpas, yn tynnu ein dillad; yr oedd gan bob un ei arf wrth law.
23So neither I, nor my brothers, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard who followed me, none of us took off our clothes. Everyone took his weapon to the water.
