1 Dechreuodd y bobl gyffredin a'u gwragedd gwyno'n enbyd yn erbyn eu cyd-Iddewon.
1Then there arose a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brothers the Jews.
2 Yr oedd rhai yn dweud, "Yr ydym yn gorfod gwystlo ein meibion a'n merched i gael u375?d er mwyn bwyta a byw."
2For there were that said, “We, our sons and our daughters, are many. Let us get grain, that we may eat and live.”
3 Yr oedd eraill yn dweud, "Yr ydym yn gorfod gwystlo ein meysydd a'n gwinllannoedd a'n tai er mwyn prynu u375?d yn ystod y newyn."
3Some also there were that said, “We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses. Let us get grain, because of the famine.”
4 Dywedai eraill, "Yr ydym wedi benthyca arian ar ein meysydd a'n gwinllannoedd i dalu treth y brenin.
4There were also some who said, “We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute using our fields and our vineyards as collateral.
5 Yr ydym o'r un cnawd 'n tylwyth, ac y mae ein plant ni fel eu plant hwy; eto, yr ydym ni'n gorfod gwneud caethweision o'n meibion a'n merched. Y mae rhai o'n merched eisoes yn gaethion, ond ni allwn wneud dim, gan fod ein meysydd a'n gwinllannoedd ym meddiant eraill."
5Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children as their children. Behold, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters have been brought into bondage. Neither is it in our power to help it; for other men have our fields and our vineyards.”
6 Pan glywais eu cwyn a'r hyn yr oeddent yn ei ddweud, yr oeddwn yn ddig iawn.
6I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
7 Yna, ar l ystyried y peth yn ofalus, ceryddais y pendefigion a'r swyddogion a dweud wrthynt, "Yr ydych yn mynnu llog gan eich cymrodyr." Ceryddais hwy'n llym,
7Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said to them, “You exact usury, everyone of his brother.” I held a great assembly against them.
8 a dweud, "Yr ydym ni, yn l ein gallu, wedi prynu ein cyd-Iddewon a werthwyd i'r cenhedloedd, ond yr ydych chwi'n gwerthu eich brodyr, a ninnau'n gorfod eu prynu'n l." Yr oeddent yn ddistaw heb air i'w ddweud.
8I said to them, “We, after our ability, have redeemed our brothers the Jews that were sold to the nations; and would you even sell your brothers, and should they be sold to us?” Then they held their peace, and found never a word.
9 Ac meddwn wrthynt, "Nid ydych yn ymddwyn yn iawn. Oni ddylech ofni ein Duw yn hytrach na gwaradwydd y cenhedloedd, ein gelynion?
9Also I said, “The thing that you do is not good. Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God, because of the reproach of the nations our enemies?
10 Yr wyf fi a'm brodyr a'm gweision yn rhoi arian ac u375?d ar fenthyg iddynt. Gadewch i ni roi terfyn ar y llogau hyn.
10I likewise, my brothers and my servants, lend them money and grain. Please let us stop this usury.
11 Rhowch yn l iddynt ar unwaith eu meysydd, eu gwinllannoedd, eu gerddi olewydd a'u tai; a hefyd y ganfed ran yr ydych wedi ei chymryd ganddynt yn llog mewn arian, u375?d, gwin ac olew."
11Please restore to them, even this day, their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, that you are charging them.”
12 Dywedasant, "Fe'u rhoddwn yn l, ac ni ofynnwn iddynt am ragor; gwnawn fel yr wyt yn ei orchymyn." Yna gelwais ar yr offeiriaid i wneud iddynt addunedu i gadw eu haddewid;
12Then they said, “We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do, even as you say.” Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they would do according to this promise.
13 ysgydwais fy mantell a dweud, "Fel hyn bydded i Dduw ysgwyd o'i du375? ac o'i eiddo bob un sy'n gwrthod cadw'r addewid hon; bydded wedi ei ysgwyd yn wag." A dywedodd yr holl gynulleidfa, "Amen", a moliannu'r ARGLWYDD. Ac fe gadwodd y bobl at yr addewid hon.
13Also I shook out my lap, and said, “So may God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that doesn’t perform this promise; even thus be he shaken out, and emptied.” All the assembly said, “Amen,” and praised Yahweh. The people did according to this promise.
14 Ac yn wir, o'r dydd y penodwyd fi yn llywodraethwr yng ngwlad Jwda, o'r ugeinfed hyd y ddeuddegfed flwyddyn ar hugain i'r Brenin Artaxerxes, sef cyfnod o ddeuddeng mlynedd, ni fwyteais i na'm brodyr ddogn bwyd y llyw-odraethwr.
14Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brothers have not eaten the bread of the governor.
15 Bu'r llywodraethwyr blaenorol oedd o'm blaen i yn llawdrwm ar y bobl, ac yn cymryd ganddynt bob dydd fara a gwin gwerth deugain sicl o arian. Yr oedd eu gweision hefyd yn arglwyddiaethu ar y bobl. Ond ni wneuthum i ymddwyn fel hyn am fy mod yn ofni Duw.
15But the former governors who were before me were supported by the people, and took bread and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver; yes, even their servants ruled over the people: but I didn’t do so, because of the fear of God.
16 Atgyweiriais y mur hwn, er nad oeddwn berchen yr un cae, a daeth fy holl weision at ei gilydd yno ar gyfer y gwaith.
16Yes, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered there to the work.
17 Yr oedd cant a hanner o'r Iddewon a'r llywodraethwyr, yn ogystal 'r rhai a ddaeth atom oddi wrth y cenhedloedd o'n cwmpas,
17Moreover there were at my table, of the Jews and the rulers, one hundred fifty men, besides those who came to us from among the nations that were around us.
18 wrth fy mwrdd, fel bod ych, a chwech o'r defaid gorau, ac adar yn cael eu paratoi ar fy nghyfer bob dydd, a digon o win o bob math bob deg diwrnod; er hynny ni ofynnais am ddogn bwyd y llywodraethwr am ei bod yn galed ar y bobl.
18Now that which was prepared for one day was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this I didn’t demand the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy on this people.
19 Fy Nuw, cofia er daioni i mi y cwbl a wneuthum i'r bobl yma.
19Remember to me, my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.
