1روزی داود در قصر خود نشسته بود و به ناتان نبی گفت: «ببین، من در این قصری که از چوب سرو ساخته شده است زندگی می کنم، اما صندوق پیمان خداوند در زیر خیمه قرار دارد.»
1Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.
2ناتان در جواب او گفت: «اختیار به دست خودت است، هرچه می خواهی بکن، خداوند همراهت باشد!»
2Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.
3اما در همان شب خداوند به ناتان فرمود:
3And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4«برو به داود بگو که خداوند چنین می فرماید: «خانه ای برای سکونت من نساز،
4Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:
5زیرا از روزیکه مردم اسرائیل را از مصر بیرون آوردم در خیمه ای که از یک جا به جای دیگری نقل داده می شد، بسر برده ام و در خانه ای سکونت نکرده ام.
5For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.
6به همه جا با قوم اسرائیل رفته ام، اما به هیچیک از پیشوایان شان که من آن ها را برای رهبری شان تعیین نمودم، شکایت نکرده ام که چرا خانه ای از چوب سرو برای من نساخته اند.»
6Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?
7حالا به بنده ام داود بگو که خداوند قادر مطلق می فرماید: «من ترا که چوپان ساده ای بیش نبودی، آوردم و بعنوان پادشاه قوم برگزیدۀ خود، اسرائیل انتخاب کردم.
7Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:
8به هر جائی که رفتی با تو بودم. همه دشمنانت را از سر راهت از بین بردم. حالا نام ترا مثل نام بزرگترین شخصیت های جهان می سازم.
8And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
9برای قوم برگزیدۀ خود، اسرائیل جائی را تعیین می کنم که وطن و مُلک همیشگی شان باشد و هیچ کسی نتواند آرامی آن ها را برهم بزند. به مردمان شریر اجازه نمی دهم که آن ها را مثل سابق خوار و حقیر سازند.
9Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,
10مثل آن روزهای که من داوران را بر قوم برگزیدۀ خود، اسرائیل تعیین کردم، تمامی دشمنانت را مغلوب تو می سازم و به تو می گویم که من، خداوند خانه ای برای تو بنا می کنم.
10And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.
11وقتیکه عمرت بسر برسد و با پدرانت بپیوندی، یکی از اولاده ات را پادشاه می سازم و سلطنت او را برقرار می کنم.
11And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
12او برای من خانه ای بنا می کند و من تاج و تخت او را استوار و ابدی می سازم.
12He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.
13من پدر او و او پسر من خواهد بود. محبت و شفقت خود را از او دریغ نمی کنم، طوریکه از شائول دریغ کردم و او را از پادشاهی خلع نمودم.
13I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:
14زمام اختیار مردم و سلطنت خود را به دست او می دهم و پادشاهی او ابدی و جاودانی می باشد.»»
14But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.
15ناتان همۀ آنچه را که خداوند در رؤیا به او فرموده بود، برای داود بیان کرد.
15According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.
16بعد داود بداخل خیمه رفت و بحضور خداوند زانو زد و گفت: «ای خداوند، خدای من، من کیستم و خانوادۀ من چیست که مرا به این مقام رساندی؟
16And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
17من ارزش این چیزهای فوق العاده را که تا بحال در حق من کردی، ندارم، اما تو باز هم وعده های عالیتر آینده را به من دادی که خانواده و اولادۀ من هم شامل آن وعده ها می باشند. ای خداوند، خدای من!
17And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
18زیادتر از این چه گفته می توانم؟ این بنده ات چه کسی است که تو او را به چنین افتخاراتی نایل ساختی؟
18What can David speak more to thee for the honor of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.
19ای خداوند، خدای من تو به رضا و میل خود این وعده های عالی را به من دادی.
19O LORD, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.
20ای خداوند، تو مثل و مانند نداری. ما می دانیم و بگوش خود شنیده ایم که بغیر از تو خدایی نیست.
20O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21هیچ قوم دیگری به پایۀ قوم اسرائیل نمی رسد و یگانه قومی است که تو او را از مصر نجات دادی و برای خود برگزیدی. با معجزات حیرت انگیز، نام خود را بزرگ و مشهور ساختی. و بخاطر اینکه راه را برای خروج قوم اسرائیل از مصر هموار سازی اقوام زیادی را از بین بردی.
21And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
22و قوم اسرائیل را برای همیشه از آن خود ساختی و تو ای خداوند، خدای شان شدی.
22For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.
23حالا ای خداوند، امیدوارم آن وعده هائی که به بنده ات و به خانواده اش دادی استوار و ابدی باقی بمانند و همگی عملی گردند؛
23Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
24تا نام مقدس تو مشهور شود و جلال و عظمت ابدی یابد و همه بگویند: «خداوند قادر مطلق، خدای اسرائیل، واقعاً خدای اسرائیل است» و خانوادۀ بنده ات همیشه فرمانروای قوم اسرائیل باشد،
24Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.
25زیرا تو ای خدای من، بوضوح به من فرمودی که اولادۀ مرا پادشاه می سازی، بنابران، به بنده ات جرأت بخشیدی که برای عرض دعا بدربارت رو کند.
25For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.
26حالا ای خداوند، تو خدا هستی و تو این وعده ها را به بنده ات دادی.پس می خواهم که برضای خود خانوادۀ این بنده ات را برکت بدهی تا همیشه خدمتگزاران صادق تو باشند و چون برکت می دهی، دعا می کنم که برکت تو ابدی و جاودانی باشد.»
26And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
27پس می خواهم که برضای خود خانوادۀ این بنده ات را برکت بدهی تا همیشه خدمتگزاران صادق تو باشند و چون برکت می دهی، دعا می کنم که برکت تو ابدی و جاودانی باشد.»
27Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.
