¹داود بعد از آنکه خداوند او را از دست دشمنانش و از دست شائول نجات داد، این سرود را برای خداوند خواند: «خداوند صخرۀ من است، پناهگاه و نجات دهندۀ من.

¹And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

²خدایم صخرۀ من است که به او پناه می برم. او سپر من و رهانندۀ نیرومند و پناهگاه امن من است. او نجات بخشای من است و مرا از ظلم و ستم می رهاند.

²And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

³خداوند را که شایستۀ ستایش است، می خوانم. پس، از دشمنانم رهایی می یابم.

³The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

⁴رشته های مرگ مرا احاطه کرده و امواج نیستی مرا ترسانیده بود.

⁴I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

⁵رشته های گور بدورم پیچیده شده و دامهای مرگ در سر راهم قرار داشت.

⁵When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;

⁶در افسردگی و پریشانی خود خداوند را خواندم و نزد خدای خود فریاد برآوردم. او آواز مرا از عبادتگاه مقدس خود شنید و فریاد من به حضورش به گوش وی رسید.

⁶The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;

⁷آنگاه زمین لرزید و تکان خورد و بنیاد آسمان ها از شدت خشم او به لرزه آمد.

⁷In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.

⁸از بینی او دود برآمد و از دهانش شعلۀ سوزنده فروزان شد و آتش ها از آن افروخته گردید.

⁸Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.

⁹او آسمان ها را پاره کرد و فرود آمد و زیر پاهایش تاریکی غلیظی بود.

⁹There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

¹⁰بر کَروب، یعنی فرشتۀ مقرب، سوار بود و بر بالهای تندباد پرواز می کرد.

¹⁰He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.

¹¹تاریکی را همچو پرده و خیمه ای بدور خود قرار داد. مثل تاریکی آب های عمیق و ابر های غلیظ آسمان.

¹¹And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.

¹²از درخشندگی حضور او شعله های آتش افروخته گردید.

¹²And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.

¹³آنگاه خداوند از آسمان با صدای رعدآسا سخن گفت و آواز خداوند متعال شنیده شد.

¹³Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.

¹⁴پس تیرهای خود را فرستاد و ایشان را پراگنده ساخت و با رعد و برق آن ها را پریشان کرد.

¹⁴The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.

¹⁵آنگاه به امر خداوند و با دمیدن نفس او، اعماق بحرها نمایان شدند و اساس زمین آشکار گردید.

¹⁵And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.

¹⁶آنگاه از عالم بالا فرستاده، مرا برداشت و از اعماق آب های بسیار بیرون کشید.

¹⁶And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

¹⁷او مرا از دست دشمنان زورآورم رهایی داد و از بدخواهانی که قویتر از من بودند.

¹⁷He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;

¹⁸در روز بلای من بر سرم ریختند، اما خداوند پشتیبان من بود.

¹⁸He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.

¹⁹او مرا به جای وسیع آورد و نجات داد، زیرا که از من خوشنود بود.

¹⁹They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

²⁰خداوند مرا مطابق عدالتم اجر داد و بر حسب پاکی دستم پاداش داد.

²⁰He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

²¹زیرا که طریق های خداوند را پیروی نموده و از حضور او منحرف نگردیدم.

²¹The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

²²جمیع اوامر او را مد نظر داشته و فرایض او را از خود دور نکرده ام.

²²For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

²³در حضور او بی عیب بوده و از گناه کردن خودداری نموده ام.

²³For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.

²⁴بنابراین خداوند مرا مطابق عدالتم و بر حسب پاکی دستم پاداش داده است.

²⁴I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity.

²⁵با شخص وفادار، وفادار هستی و با مرد کامل با کاملیت رفتار می کنی.

²⁵Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.

²⁶با کسانی که پاک هستند به پاکی رفتار می نمائی و با آنهائی که مکار هستند مخالفت می کنی.

²⁶With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright.

²⁷مردم مظلوم را نجات می بخشی، اما چشمان تو بر متکبران است تا آن ها را سرنگون سازی.

²⁷With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt show thyself unsavory.

²⁸تو ای خداوند، نور من هستی و تاریکی را برای من به روشنایی تبدیل می کنی.

²⁸And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.

²⁹با کمک تو بر صفوف دشمن حمله می کنم و با مدد خدای خود از حصارها می گذرم.

²⁹For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.

³⁰راه خدا کامل است و کلام او قابل اطمینان. او برای کسانی که به او پناه می آورند، سپر است.

³⁰For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.

³¹زیرا کیست خدا غیر از خداوند؟ و کیست صخره ای غیر از خدای ما؟

³¹As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

³²خدایی که پناهگاه مستحکم من است و راه های مرا راست می گرداند.

³²For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?

³³پاهای مرا مثل پاهای آهو ساخته است و مرا بر کوهها استوار نگاه می دارد.

³³God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.

³⁴دستهایم را برای جنگ ماهر می سازد تا بازوانم بتوانند از کمان برنجی کار بگیرند.

³⁴He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places.

³⁵تو به من سپر نجات را بخشیدی و مهربانی تو مرا وسعت بخشیده است.

³⁵He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

³⁶راه را برای قدمهایم فراخ ساختی تا پاهایم نلغزند.

³⁶Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.

³⁷دشمنانم را تعقیب نموده، به آن ها رسیدم و تا که آن ها را از بین نبردم، بر نگشتم.

³⁷Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.

³⁸آن ها را بزمین کوبیدم تا نتوانند برخیزند و زیر پاهایم افتادند.

³⁸I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.

³⁹زیرا تو مرا برای جنگ قوت بخشیدی و آنهای را که بر ضد من برخاستند بزیر پاهایم افگندی.

³⁹And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.

⁴⁰تو دشمنانم را شکست دادی و آنهائی را که بدخواه من بودند، نابود کردی.

⁴⁰For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.

⁴¹آن ها برای کمک زاری نمودند، اما رهانندۀ نبود. بحضور خداوند استغاثه کردند، اما او هم به آن ها جوابی نداد.

⁴¹Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.

⁴²ایشان را مثل غبار به دست باد سپردم و مثل گِل و لای کوچه ها دور ریختم.

⁴²They looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

⁴³تو مرا از دست فتنه گران قوم رهائی بخشیدی، حکمفرمای ملتها ساختی و قومی را که نشناخته بودم، خدمتگار من شدند.

⁴³Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad.

⁴⁴به مجردیکه نام مرا شنیدند تابع من گردیدند و در برابر من سر تعظیم خم کردند.

⁴⁴Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.

⁴⁵بیگانگان جرأت خود را باخته، با ترس و لرز از قلعه های خود بیرون آمدند.

⁴⁵Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.

⁴⁶خداوند زنده است! متبارک باد صخرۀ من و متعال باد خدای نجات من!

⁴⁶Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places.

⁴⁷خدائی که انتقام مرا از دشمنان می گیرد و ملل جهان را به دست من مغلوب می سازد،

⁴⁷The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.

⁴⁸او مرا از دست دشمنان رهائی بخشید، پیش بدخواهان سرفرازم ساخت و از مردم ظالم نجاتم داد.

⁴⁸It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me.

⁴⁹بنابراین، ای خداوند، تو را در میان مردم ستایش کرده و به نام تو سرود سپاسگزاری می خوانم.او پادشاه خود را به پیروزی شایانی نایل می سازد و به برگزیدۀ خود رحمت نموده است، یعنی به داود و نسل های او تا به ابد.»

⁴⁹And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

⁵⁰او پادشاه خود را به پیروزی شایانی نایل می سازد و به برگزیدۀ خود رحمت نموده است، یعنی به داود و نسل های او تا به ابد.»

⁵⁰Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

⁵¹He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.
