1اینها آخرین گفتار داود است. کلام داود، پسر یسی است. داود، مردیکه خدا او را به چنان مقام بزرگی نایل ساخت. او شخص برگزیدۀ خدای یعقوب و سرایندۀ نغمات شیرین زبور در اسرائیل است.
1Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,
2«روح خداوند بوسیلۀ من حرف می زند و کلام او بر زبانم جاری است.
2The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
3خدای اسرائیل فرمود و صخرۀ اسرائیل به من گفت: «آن کسیکه با عدل و انصاف بر مردم حکمرانی می کند و با خدا ترسی حکومت می نماید،
3The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
4مثل نور صبحگاهی است که بر رعیت خود می تابد. مانند آفتابی است که در سحرگاهان بی ابر می درخشد و سبزه ها را بعد از باران شاداب می سازد.»
4And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.
5بلی، خدا با من پیمان همیشگی بسته است. پیمان او پیمانی است محکم، نهائی و از هر جهت قابل اطمینان. از آزادی برخوردارم می سازد و به آرزو هایم می رساند.
5Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.
6اما مردم شریر مثل خار هستند که دور انداخته می شوند، زیرا به آن ها نمی توان دست زد.
6But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
7اگر کسی بخواهد به آن ها دست بزند، باید با ابزار مخصوصی مجهز باشد تا آن ها را گرفته در آتش بسوزاند.»
7But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.
8اینها نامهای سه قهرمانی هستند که در سپاه داود خدمت کردند. اولین آن ها یوشیب بِشبت تحکمونی که بنام عدینو عصنی هم یاد می شد. او در یک جنگ هشتصد نفر را کشت.
8These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
9شخص دوم اَلِعازار، پسر دودو و نواسۀ خوخی بود. او یکی از آن سه نفری بود که وقتی فلسطینی ها برای جنگ جمع شده بودند، همراه داود برای مقابلۀ آن ها رفت. در آن جنگ همه عساکر اسرائیلی فرار کردند،
9And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
10ولی او به جنگ ادامه داد و به کشتار فلسطینی ها پرداخت تا اینکه دستش خسته شد و شمشیر بدستش چسپید. خداوند در آن روز فتح بزرگی نصیب شان کرد. بعد کسانیکه فرار کرده بودند برگشتند و به تاراج و غارت شروع کردند.
10He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
11سومی شمه پسر آجی هراری بود. یکبار وقتی فلسطینی ها در میدان لیحی، جائیکه پر از مشنگ بود جمع شدند. سپاه اسرائیل همگی گریختند،
11And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentils: and the people fled from the Philistines.
12ولی او تنها در میدان برای دفاع ایستاد و فلسطینی ها را شکست داد. خداوند آن ها را به ظفر بزرگی نایل کرد.
12But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.
13یکبار زمانیکه داود در مغارۀ عدولام زندگی می کرد و سپاه فلسطینی ها در وادی رفائیم اردو زده بودند، سه نفر از آن سی صاحب منصب عالیرتبۀ نظامی لشکر اسرائیل، در موسم درو، بدیدن داود رفتند.
13And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.
14داود در قلعه بود و پهره داران فلسطینی ها در بیت لحم بودند.
14And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
15داود با شوق و آرزو گفت: «ای کاش، کسی می بود که کمی آب از چاه نزدیک بیت لحم برایم می آورد.»
15And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!
16آنگاه آن سه مرد دلاور صف لشکر دشمن را شگافته از چاه پهلوی دروازۀ بیت لحم آب کشیدند و برای داود بردند. اما داود آب را ننوشید، بلکه آنرا برای خداوند ریخت
16And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
17و گفت: «خداوندا، غیر ممکن است که این آب را بنوشم. این آب خون این مردان است که زندگی خود را بخاطر آوردن آن بخطر انداختند.» بنابران، داود آب را ننوشید. این بود کاری که آن سه مرد دلاور کردند.
17And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.
18ابیشای برادر یوآب، پسر زِرویه سرکردۀ آن سه نفر بود. یکبار او به تنهائی سه صد نفر از دشمن را کشت و بخاطر همین شجاعتش مثل آن سه نفر مشهور شد.
18And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.
19گرچه او سرکردگی سی صاحب منصب را به عهده داشت، بازهم در دلاوری به پایۀ آن سه نفر نمی رسید.
19Was he not most honorable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.
20بنایاهو، پسر یَهویاداع شخص شجاعی بود از اهالی قبصئیل که کارهای بزرگی کرده بود. او یکبار دو جنگجوی معروف موابی را به قتل رساند و در یک روزیکه برف می بارید در یک غار داخل شد و شیری را کشت.
20And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:
21دفعۀ دیگر با یک چوب دست، با یک جنگجوی مصری قوی هیکل که مجهز با نیزه بود حمله کرد. نیزه را از دستش ربود و با نیزۀ خودش او را کشت.
21And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
22بنایاهو با این کارهای خود مثل آن سه قهرمان شهرت یافت.
22These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.
23او یکی از معروفترین آن سی دلاور بود، ولی با آنهم مقام و رتبۀ آن سه نفر را نداشت. داود او را بحیث سرکردۀ محافظین خود تعیین کرد.
23He was more honorable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
24عَسائیل، برادر یوآب هم یکی از آن سی نفر بود. بقیۀ آن ها عبارت بودند از: اَلحانان پسر دودو از بیت لحم،
24Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
25شمۀ حَرودی، الیقای حَرودی،
25Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
26حالَز فِلتی، عیرا پسر عِقیِش تَقوعی،
26Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
27اَبیعَزَر عناتونی، مبونای حوشاتی،
27Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
28صلمون اخوخی، مَهرای نِطوفاتی،
28Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
29حالب پسر بعنۀ نِطوفاتی، اتای پسر ریبای از شهر جعبۀ بنیامین،
29Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,
30بنایای فِرعاتونی، هدای از وادیهای جاعَش،
30Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
31ابوعلبون عرباتی، عزموت برحومی،
31Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,
32الیَحبای شَعَلبونی پسر یاشن، یُوناتان،
32Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
33شمۀ هراری، اخیام پسر شارر هراری،
33Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,
34اَلِیفَلَط پسر احسبای پسر مَعکاتی، الیعام پسر اخیتوفل جیلونی،
34Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
35حَزرای کَرمَلی، فعرای اربی،
35Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
36یجال پسر ناتان از صوبه، بانی جادی،
36Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
37صالق عَمونی، نحرای بیروتی (سلاحبردار یوآب، پسر زِرویه)،
37Zelek the Ammonite, Nahari the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,
38عیرای یتری، جارِب یتریو اوریای حتی ـ جمله سی و هفت نفر.
38Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite,
39و اوریای حتی ـ جمله سی و هفت نفر.
39Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.
