¹همینکه فتنه خاموش شد، پولُس شاگردان را طلبید و پس از تشویق آنها خداحافظی کرد و عازم مقدونیه شد.

¹And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

²او در آن ناحیه می گشت و همه جا با سخنان خود به شاگردان دلگرمی می داد و به این ترتیب به یونان رسید.

²And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

³پس از سه ماه اقامت در آنجا، هنگامی که خواست با کشتی به سوریه برود، یهودیان بر ضد او توطئه چیدند. بنابراین او تصمیم گرفت از راه مقدونیه مراجعت نماید.

³And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

⁴همراهان او عبارت بودند از سوپاتِرُس بیریه ای و آرِستَرخُس و سِکُندُسِ تسالونیکی و غایوس دربه ای و تیموتاوس و تیخیکاس و تروفیمُس که از اهالی ایالت آسیا بودند.

⁴And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

⁵اینها زودتر از ما رفتند و در شهر ترواس در انتظار ما ماندند.

⁵These going before tarried for us at Troas.

⁶خود ما پس از ایام عید فطیر از فیلپی سوار کشتی شدیم و پنج روز بعد در بندر ترواس به آنها رسیدیم و یک هفته در آنجا ماندیم.

⁶And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

⁷در شب یکشنبه وقتی ما برای پاره کردن و خوردن نان دور هم جمع شدیم، پولُس به علت آنکه روز بعد عازم سفر بود به تفصیل برای آنها صحبت کرد و تا نصف شب به سخنان خود ادامه داد.

⁷And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

⁸در بالاخانه ای که ما در آن جمع شده بودیم، چراغهای زیادی روشن بود.

⁸And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

⁹جوانی به نام اِفتیخُس پیش کلکین نشسته بود و همین طور که پولُس صحبت می کرد رفته رفته خوابش گرفت، بالاخره خواب کاملاً بر او غالب شد و از منزل سوم به زیر افتاد و وقتی او را برداشتند، مرده بود.

⁹And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

¹⁰پولُس پائین رفت و خود را روی او انداخت و او را در آغوش گرفت و به آنها گفت: «ناراحت نباشید، او هنوز زنده است.»

¹⁰And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

¹¹پس پولُس دوباره بالا رفت و نان را پاره کرد و خورد. و پس از صحبت های بسیار که تا سپیدۀ صبح به طول انجامید پولُس شهر را ترک کرد.

¹¹When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

¹²و آنها آن جوان را زنده به خانه بردند و خاطر همه از این بابت کاملاً جمع شد.

¹²And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

¹³ما قبل از دیگران به طرف کشتی رفتیم، و به طوری که، پولُس قبلاً قرار گذاشته بود به سوی اَسُس حرکت کردیم تا در آنجا پولُس را سوار کشتی کنیم. زیرا او قصد داشت که از راه خشکی به آنجا برود.

¹³And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

¹⁴وقتی پولُس در اَسُس با ما یکجا شد او را سوار کشتی نمودیم و به بندر میلیتُس آمدیم.

¹⁴And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.

¹⁵روز بعد از راه بحر به مقابل جزیرۀ خیوس رسیدیم و روز دوم از آنجا به جزیرۀ ساموس رفتیم. فردای آن روز وارد بندر میلیتُس شدیم،

¹⁵And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

¹⁶زیرا پولُس تصمیم گرفته بود که از کنار اِفِسُس عبور نماید تا از تلف شدن وقت در ایالت آسیا جلوگیری شود زیرا او خواهش بسیار داشت که در صورت امکان قبل از روز پِنتیکاست در اورشلیم باشد.

¹⁶For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

¹⁷پولُس از میلیتُس پیامی به اِفِسُس فرستاد و رهبران کلیسا را خواست.

¹⁷And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

¹⁸وقتی آن ها رسیدند به آنها گفت: «شما می دانید که از اولین روزی که من به ایالت آسیا پا گذاشتم در تمام اوقاتی که با شما بودم چگونه رفتار نمودم

¹⁸And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

¹⁹یعنی با کمال تواضع و با اشکها و زحماتی که به وسیلۀ دسیسه های یهودیان برای من پیش می آمد، مانند یک غلام خداوند را خدمت کردم.

¹⁹Serving the LORD with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

²⁰شما می دانید که من برای خیر و صلاح شما از هیچ چیز دریغ نکردم. من پیام را به شما رساندم و شما را پیش مردم و در خانه های تان تعلیم دادم.

²⁰And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,

²¹من به یهودیان و یونانیان اخطار کردم، که آن ها باید از گناهان خود توبه کنند و به خدا روی آورند و به خداوند ما عیسی ایمان داشته باشند.

²¹Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

²²اکنون در بندگی روح القدس در راه اورشلیم هستم و از آنچه به سرم خواهد آمد چیزی نمی دانم

²²And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

²³جز اینکه روح القدس در هر شهر به طور آشکار مرا خبر می دهد، که حبس ها و سختی ها در انتظار من است.

²³Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

²⁴اما ادامه زندگی برای من آنقدر ارزش ندارد که از خاطر جان خود پریشان باشم. تنها آرزوی من این است که وظیفۀ خود را انجام دهم و خدمتی را که عیسی خداوند به من سپرده بود، یعنی اعلام مژدۀ فیض خدا را به پایان برسانم.

²⁴But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

²⁵و اکنون خاطر جمع هستم که هیچیک از شما که برای اعلام پادشاهی خدا با شما رفت و آمد داشته ام، دیگر روی مرا نخواهد دید.

²⁵And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

²⁶بنابراین امروز به شما می گویم: اگر کسی از شما هلاک شود من مسئول نیستم،

²⁶Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

²⁷زیرا برای اعلام تمام مقاصد خدا به شما از هیچ کاری کوتاهی نکرده ام.

²⁷For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

²⁸متوجه خود و متوجه آن گله ای باشید که روح القدس شما را به نظارت آن برگزیده است و چون چوپانان، کلیسائی را که خداوند با خون خود خریده است پرورش دهید.

²⁸Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

²⁹من می دانم که بعد از رفتن من گرگهای درنده به میان شما خواهند آمد که به گله دلسوزی نخواهند کرد.

²⁹For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

³⁰و حتی در میان خود شما کسانی پیدا خواهند شد، که حقیقت را تغییر داده، پیروانی را به دنبال خود خواهند کشید.

³⁰Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

³¹پس آگاه باشید و فراموش نکنید که چگونه دائماً مدت سه سال، روز و شب شما را تعلیم دادم و برای شما اشک ریختم.

³¹Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

³²اکنون شما را به خدا و کلام فیض بخش او می سپارم. کلامی که قادر است شما را بنا کند و برکاتی را که میراث مقدسان اوست، به شما عطا فرماید.

³²And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

³³من به پول یا لباس کسی چشم ندوخته ام.

³³I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.

³⁴خود تان می دانید که با این دستها زحمت کشیده ام و ضروریات خود و همراهانم را به دست آورده ام.

³⁴Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

³⁵من عملاً به شما نشان داده ام که ما باید زحمت بکشیم و ناتوانان را یاری نمائیم. و سخنان عیسی خداوند را به یاد داشته باشیم که فرمود: «بخشیدن از گرفتن فرخنده تر است.»»

³⁵I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

³⁶وقتی پولُس سخنان خود را به پایان رسانید با همۀ آنها زانو زد و دعا کرد.

³⁶And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

³⁷همه با صدای بلند گریه می کردند و او را در آغوش می گرفتند و می بوسیدند.آنچه بیش از هر چیز آنها را غمگین می ساخت این بود، که پولُس گفته بود دیگر آن ها روی او را نخواهند دید. پس او را تا کشتی بدرقه نمودند.

³⁷And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him,

³⁸آنچه بیش از هر چیز آنها را غمگین می ساخت این بود، که پولُس گفته بود دیگر آن ها روی او را نخواهند دید. پس او را تا کشتی بدرقه نمودند.

³⁸Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.
