¹شائول جزء کسانی بود که با قتل استیفان موافقت کرده بودند.در همان روز جفای سختی به کلیسای اورشلیم شروع شد و همۀ ایمانداران به جز رسولان به نواحی یهودیه و سامره پراگنده شدند.

¹And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

²گروهی از کسان خدا ترس جسد استیفان را به خاک سپردند و ماتم بزرگی برای او گرفتند.

²And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

³شائول کوشش می کرد که بنیاد کلیسا را براندازد. او خانه به خانه میگشت و زنان و مردان را بیرون می کشید و به زندان می انداخت.

³As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

⁴و اما آنانی که پراگنده شده بودند به هر جا که می رفتند پیام خدا را اعلام می کردند.

⁴Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

⁵فیلیپُس داخل شهری از سامره شد و در آنجا به اعلام نام مسیح پرداخت

⁵Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

⁶و مردم یک دل و با اشتیاق به سخنان او گوش می دادند و معجزاتی را که انجام می داد، می دیدند.

⁶And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

⁷ارواح ناپاک با فریاد از مبتلایان بسیار خارج می شدند و عده زیادی از شلان و لنگان شفا می یافتند

⁷For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

⁸و در آن شهر خوشی بزرگ برپا شد.

⁸And there was great joy in that city.

⁹مردی شمعون نام در آن شهر زندگی می کرد که برای مدتی سامریان را فریفته اعمال جادوگرانه خود کرده و می گفت شخص بزرگی است.

⁹But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

¹⁰همۀ آنها از بزرگ و کوچک با توجه کامل به او گوش می دادند و می گفتند: «این شخص مظهر قدرت همان خدائی است که قدرت بزرگ نام دارد.»

¹⁰To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

¹¹آن ها احترام زیادی به او می گذاشتند زیرا او سالهای سال با جادوگری آن ها را افسون کرده بود.

¹¹And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

¹²اما وقتی به مژدۀ فیلیپُس دربارۀ پادشاهی خدا و نام عیسی مسیح ایمان آوردند مردان و زنان تعمید یافتند.

¹²But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

¹³حتی خود شمعون نیز ایمان آورد و تعمید گرفت و پس از آن دیگر از فیلیپُس دور نشد و وقتی عجایب و معجزاتی را که به وسیلۀ فیلیپُس بعمل می آمد می دید حیران می شد.

¹³Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

¹⁴همینکه رسولان مقیم اورشلیم با خبر شدند که در سامره هم پیام خدا با استقبال روبرو شده است، پِترُس و یوحنا را پیش آنها فرستادند.

¹⁴Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

¹⁵وقتی آن ها به آنجا رسیدند برای ایمانداران دعا کردند تا روح القدس را بیابند،

¹⁵Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

¹⁶زیرا آن ها فقط به نام عیسی خداوند تعمید گرفته بودند و تا آن زمان روح خداوند بر آنها نازل نشده بود

¹⁶(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

¹⁷بنابراین پِترُس و یوحنا دست برسر آنها نهادند و آنها روح القدس را یافتند.

¹⁷Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

¹⁸وقتی شمعون دید که با دستگذاری رسولان روح القدس عطا می شود، پول های خود را پیش پِترُس و یوحنا آورد

¹⁸And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

¹⁹و گفت: «همان قدرت را به من هم لطف کنید تا بر هر که دست بگذارم روح القدس را بیابد.»

¹⁹Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

²⁰پِترُس جواب داد: «پولت با خودت هلاک شود، چون گمان کرده ای که بخشش رایگان خدا را با پول می توان خرید.

²⁰But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

²¹تو از این بابت هیچ نصیبی نداری زیرا دل تو پیش خدا ناراست است.

²¹Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

²²از این شرارت توبه کن و از خداوند بخواه تا شاید تو را برای داشتن چنین فکری ببخشد.

²²Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

²³من می بینم که زندگی تو تلخ و زهرآگین است و در زنجیرهای شرارت گرفتاری.»

²³For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

²⁴شمعون در جواب خواهش کرده گفت: «برای من به درگاه خداوند دعا کنید تا هیچیک از چیزهایی را که دربارۀ من گفتید عملی نشود.»

²⁴Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the LORD for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

²⁵پس از آنکه پِترُس و یوحنا شهادت های خود را دادند و پیغام خداوند را اعلام کردند، به اورشلیم بازگشتند و در بین راه مژدۀ نجات را به بسیاری از دهکده های سامره رسانیدند.

²⁵And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

²⁶فرشته خداوند به فیلیپُس گفت: «برخیز به طرف جنوب به آن جاده ای که از اورشلیم به غزه میرود برو.» (این جاده یک راه بیابانی است.)

²⁶And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

²⁷او برخاست و به طرف آنجا حرکت کرد. یک خواجه سرای حبشی که در دربار ملکۀ حبشه به نام کَنداکِه مقام مهمی داشت و خزانه دار او بود برای عبادت به اورشلیم آمده بود.

²⁷And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

²⁸در این هنگام در راه بازگشت به وطن در گادی ای نشسته بود و کتاب اشعیای نبی را می خواند.

²⁸Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

²⁹روح خدا به فیلیپُس گفت: «نزدیک برو و خود را به آن گادی برسان.»

²⁹Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

³⁰پس فیلیپُس به سوی آن دوید و شنید که او کتاب اشعیا را می خواند و پرسید: «آیا آنچه می خوانی می فهمی؟»

³⁰And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

³¹او جواب داد: «تا کسی مرا راهنمایی نکند چطور می توانم آنرا بفهمم؟» او از فیلیپُس خواهش کرد که سوار گادی بشود و پهلوی او بنشیند.

³¹And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

³²آن قسمتی را که می خواند چنین بود:«او مانند گوسفندی که به کشتارگاه می برند، یا مثل بره ای که پیش پشم چینان زبان باز نمی کند، کلامی به زبان نیاورد.

³²The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

³³به این قسم او را حقیر شمردند و حقانیتش را نادیده گرفتند. چه کسی دربارۀ فرزندان او سخن خواهد گفت؟ زیرا زندگی او از روی زمین پایان یافته است.»

³³In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

³⁴آن شخص به فیلیپُس گفت: «تمنا دارم به من بگو که پیغمبر در اینجا دربارۀ چه کسی سخن می گوید، دربارۀ خودش یا کسی دیگر.»

³⁴And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

³⁵آنگاه فیلیپُس آغاز سخن کرد و از همان قسمت کتاب مقدس شروع کرده مژدۀ عیسی را به او رسانید.

³⁵Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

³⁶همانطور که می رفتند به آبی رسیدند. خزانه دار گفت: «ببین، در اینجا آب هست، چه چیزی مانع تعمید گرفتن من است؟»

³⁶And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

³⁷فیلیپُس گفت: «اگر با تمام دل ایمان آوری هیچ مانعی وجود ندارد.» او جواب داد: «من ایمان دارم که عیسی مسیح، پسر خداست.»

³⁷And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

³⁸باز امر کرد گادی را ایستاده کند. او و فیلیپُس داخل آب رفتند و فیلیپُس او را تعمید داد.

³⁸And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

³⁹وقتی از آب بیرون آمدند روح خداوند ناگهان فیلیپُس را غیب ساخت و آن شخص دیگر او را ندید و خوشی کنان به راه خود رفت.اما فیلیپُس در اَشدُود دیده شد که در همه شهرهای آن ناحیه می گشت و خوشخبری می داد تا سرانجام به قیصریه رسید.

³⁹And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

⁴⁰اما فیلیپُس در اَشدُود دیده شد که در همه شهرهای آن ناحیه می گشت و خوشخبری می داد تا سرانجام به قیصریه رسید.

⁴⁰But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
