¹وقتی خداوند، خدای تان، شما را به سرزمینی که به زودی مالک آن می شوید، بیاورد، این هفت قوم را که تعداد آن ها بیشمار و نیرومندتر از شما هستند، از سر راه تان دور خواهد کرد: حِتیان، جَرجاشیان، اموریان، کنعانیان، فِرزِیان، حویان و یبوسیان.

¹When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

²هنگامی که خداوند، خدای تان آن ها را به دست شما تسلیم و مغلوب سازد، شما باید آن ها را بکلی از بین ببرید. با آن ها پیمان نبندید و به آن ها ترحم نشان ندهید.

²And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them:

³با آن ها ازدواج نکنید و فرزندان تان نباید با پسران و دختران شان ازدواج کنند،

³Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

⁴زیرا با این کار خود از من نافرمانی کرده پیرو خدایان غیر می شوند. آنگاه آتش خشم خداوند بر شما افروخته شده بزودی شما را نابود می کند.

⁴For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

⁵شما با آن مردم این چنین رفتار نمائید: قربانگاه های شان را ویران کنید، ستونهای آن ها را بشکنید، مجسمه های شان را از بین ببرید و بتهای آن ها را در آتش بسوزانید.

⁵But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

⁶زیرا شما پیش خداوند یک قوم مقدس هستید و خداوند، خدای تان شما را از بین تمام اقوام روی زمین برگزید تا قوم خاص او باشید.

⁶For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

⁷شما از همه اقوام دیگر کوچکتر بودید و بزرگتر از سایر اقوام نبودید که خداوند شما را برگزیند و به شما محبت نشان بدهد،

⁷The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

⁸بلکه بخاطر این بود که شما را دوست داشت و به سوگندی که به اجداد تان خورده بود وفا کرد تا شما را با دست نیرومند خود از اسارت و غلامی نجات بخشد و از دست فرعون، پادشاه مصر آزاد کند.

⁸But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

⁹پس بدانید که خداوند، خدای تان خدای یگانه است. او خدای باوفا است که عهد و پیمان خود را با دوستداران خود و آنهائی که از احکام او پیروی می کنند، تا هزاران نسل نگاه می دارد.

⁹Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

¹⁰اما کسانی که از او اطاعت نکنند، بدون تأخیر جزا می بینند و نابود می شوند.

¹⁰And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.

¹¹پس از احکام، قوانین و فرایض او که همه را امروز به شما ابلاغ می کنم، بدقت پیروی کنید.

¹¹Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.

¹²اگر شما به این احکام توجه کنید و از آن ها بدقت پیروی نمائید، خداوند، خدای تان به عهدی که از روی رحمت با اجداد شما بسته است، وفا می کند.

¹²Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:

¹³او شما را دوست می دارد، برکت می دهد و به تعداد تان می افزاید. او شما و زمین تان را بارور و با ثمر می کند. غله، انگور، روغن، گله و رمۀ تان را در سرزمینی که به پدران شما وعده فرمود، برکت می دهد و فراوان می سازد.

¹³And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

¹⁴شما خوشبخت ترین مردم روی زمین می شوید و هیچیک از شما حتی گله های تان هم نازا نخواهند بود.

¹⁴Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.

¹⁵خداوند هرگونه مرض را از شما دور کرده نمی گذارد به آن امراضی هولناکی که در مصر دیده بودید دچار شوید، بلکه کسانی که دشمن شما هستند به آن بیماری ها مبتلا می گردند.

¹⁵And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

¹⁶تمام اقوامی را که خداوند، خدای شما به دست تان تسلیم می کند، از بین ببرید. به آن ها رحم نکنید، خدایان شان را نپرستید، ورنه در دام خطرناکی گرفتار می شوید.

¹⁶And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

¹⁷شاید پیش خود فکر کنید و بگوئید: «مردم این اقوام بیشمار اند، چگونه می توانیم بر آن ها غلبه کنیم؟»

¹⁷If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?

¹⁸از آن ها نترسید. فقط آنچه را که خداوند، خدای تان در حق فرعون و مردم مصر کرد بخاطر آورید.

¹⁸Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;

¹⁹بلاهای مدهشی را که بر سر شان آورد و معجزاتی را که نشان داد بچشم خود مشاهده کردید و دیدید که چگونه دست توانای او شما را از مصر بیرون آورد. خداوند، خدای تان همین رفتار را هم با کسانی می کند که شما از آن ها می ترسید.

¹⁹The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

²⁰برعلاوه، خداوند، خدای تان بلاهائی را می فرستد تا آن عده از دشمنان تان را که فرار کرده اند، نیز از بین ببرند.

²⁰Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.

²¹از آن ها هراس نداشته باشید، زیرا خداوند، خدای تان که همراه شما است، خدای بزرگ و با هیبت است.

²¹Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

²²خداوند، خدای شما این اقوام را بتدریج از سر راه تان دور می کند. شما خود تان نمی توانید که بسرعت آن ها را از بین ببرید، زیرا در آنصورت حیوانات وحشی دفعتاً افزایش یافته برای تان خطر تولید می کنند.

²²And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

²³اما خداوند، خدای تان آن ها را به دست شما تسلیم کرده به وحشت می اندازد تا که همگی نابود شوند.

²³But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.

²⁴او پادشاهان آن ها را به دست شما می سپارد تا شما نام شان را از صفحۀ زندگی محو سازید و هیچ کسی قادر نمی باشد که در مقابل شما مقاومت کند و شما همگی را هلاک می کنید.

²⁴And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.

²⁵بتهای شان را در آتش بسوزانید. به نقره و طلائی که این بتها از آن ساخته شده اند طمع نکنید و آن را برای خود نگیرید ورنه به دام می افتید، زیرا خداوند، خدای تان آن را مکروه می داند.بتها را به خانه های تان نیاورید، مبادا شما هم مثل آن ها مورد نفرین قرار گرفته هلاک شوید. از آن ها نفرت کنید، زیرا آن ها حرام هستند.

²⁵The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.

²⁶بتها را به خانه های تان نیاورید، مبادا شما هم مثل آن ها مورد نفرین قرار گرفته هلاک شوید. از آن ها نفرت کنید، زیرا آن ها حرام هستند.

²⁶Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
