¹تمام این احکامی را که امروز برای تان ابلاغ می کنم به خاطر داشته و از آن به دقت پیروی نمائید تا در آن سرزمینی که خداوند به پدران شما وعده فرمود یک زندگی طولانی و پُر برکتی داشته باشید.

¹All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

²آن راه درازی را که خداوند، خدای شما در مدت چهل سال شما را در بیابان راهنمائی کرد، بخاطر داشته باشید که چگونه شما را در سختی ها نگه داشت و آزمایش کرد تا بداند که شما چه عکس العملی نشان می دهید و آیا احکام او را بجا می آورید یا نه.

²And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

³او شما را در سختی و گرسنگی قرار داد و بعد شما را با مَنّا، که نه شما و نه پدران تان آن را می شناختید، تغذیه کرد تا به شما بفهماند که زندگی انسان تنها مربوط به خوراک نیست، بلکه به هر کلمه ای که خداوند می فرماید.

³And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

⁴در آن مدت چهل سال لباس تان کهنه نشد و پاهای تان را آبله نزد.

⁴Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

⁵پس باید بدانید مثلیکه پدر پسر خود را تأدیب می کند، خداوند هم شما را تنبیه می نماید.

⁵Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.

⁶بنابران، احکام خداوند، خدای تان را بجا آورید، طریق او را دنبال کنید و از او بترسید،

⁶Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

⁷زیرا خداوند شما را به سرزمین حاصلخیزی می برد که جویهای آب، چشمه ها و دریاها از دره ها و کوههای آن جاری است ـ

⁷For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

⁸سرزمینی که در آن گندم، جو، انگور، درختان انجیر، انار و زیتون، عسل

⁸A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;

⁹و خوراک به فراوانی یافت می شود و در آنجا به هیچ چیزی محتاج نخواهید بود. درآن سرزمین سنگها، آهن هستند و کوه هایش پُر از معادن مس می باشند.

⁹A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.

¹⁰در آنجا می خورید و سیر می شوید و خداوند، خدای خود را بخاطر این سرزمین با برکتی که به شما بخشید، شکر می کنید.

¹⁰When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

¹¹اما احتیاط کنید که خداوند، خدای خود را از یاد نبرید. احکام، قوانین و فرایض او را که امروز به شما ابلاغ می کنم بجا آورید.

¹¹Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

¹²وقتی بخورید و شکم تان سیر شود و برای سکونت خود خانه های زیبا بسازید

¹²Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

¹³و هنگامی که رمه، گله، نقره، طلا و دارائی تان افزایش یابد،

¹³And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

¹⁴باید مغرور نشوید و خداوند، خدای خود را که شما را از اسارت و غلامی در مصر بیرون آورد، فراموش نکنید.

¹⁴Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

¹⁵او شما را در بیابان بزرگ و وحشتناک و خشک و بی علف که پُر از مارهای سمی و گژدم بود راهنمائی کرد. از دل سنگ خارا به شما آب داد.

¹⁵Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

¹⁶در آن بیابان شما را با مَنّا که اجداد تان آن را ندیده بودند تغذیه کرد تا شما را در سختی نگهدارد و بیازماید و در آخر به شما برکت بدهد.

¹⁶Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

¹⁷هیچگاه نگوئید: «من با قوّت نیروی خود این ثروت را به دست آورده ام.»

¹⁷And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

¹⁸خداوند، خدای خود را همیشه بخاطر داشته باشید، زیرا او است که به شما توانائی برای به دست آوردن ثروت عطا می کند تا عهدی را که به پدران تان داده بود وفا نماید.

¹⁸But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

¹⁹اما اگر خداوند، خدای تان را فراموش کنید و از خدایان دیگر پیروی کرده آن ها را بپرستید، من به شما اخطار می دهم که هلاکت شما حتمی است.مثل اقوامی دیگر که پیش از شما بودند از بین می روید، زیرا از کلام خداوند، خدای تان اطاعت نکرده اید.

¹⁹And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

²⁰مثل اقوامی دیگر که پیش از شما بودند از بین می روید، زیرا از کلام خداوند، خدای تان اطاعت نکرده اید.

²⁰As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.
