¹در روزِ دهم ماهِ پنجمِ سال هفتم تبعید ما، عده ای از رهبران اسرائیل آمدند و مقابل من نشستند تا از خداوند راهنمائی بطلبند.

¹And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

²آنگاه خداوند این پیام را به من داد:

²Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,

³«ای انسان خاکی، به رهبران اسرائیل بگو که خداوند متعال چنین می فرماید: چرا به اینجا آمده اید و برای چه از من هدایت می طلبید؟ به حیات خودم قسم که شما را هدایت نمی کنم.

³Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

⁴تو ای انسان خاکی آن ها را محکوم کن و متوجه گناهان اجداد شان ساز

⁴Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:

⁵و به آن ها بگو که من خداوند، خدای شان هستم

⁵And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;

⁶و وقتی من اسرائیل را بعنوان قوم برگزیدۀ خود انتخاب کردم، خود را در مصر برای شان آشکار ساختم و برای آن ها وعده دادم که آن ها را از کشور مصر بیرون آورده به سرزمینی که در نظر داشتم می برم، یعنی به سرزمینی که شیر و عسل در آن جاریست و بهترین جای روی زمین است.

⁶In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:

⁷به آن ها گفتم که از چیزهای منفور چشم بپوشند و با پرستش بتهای مصریان خود را آلوده نسازند، زیرا من خداوند، خدای ایشان هستم.

⁷Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

⁸ولی آن ها از امر من سرکشی کردند و به من گوش ندادند. حتی یک نفر از آن ها هم از چیزهای منفوری که به آن ها دل بسته بودند و از پرستش بتهای مصریان دست نکشید. آنگاه تصمیم گرفتم که بر آن ها غضب خود را نازل کنم و در میان مردم کشور مصر خشم خود را به آن ها آشکار سازم.

⁸But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

⁹اما بخاطر حفظ حرمت نام خود آن کار را نکردم، بلکه با هدایت کردن آن ها از آن کشور به بیابان، قدرت خود را به مردم مصر نشان دادم.

⁹But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁰پس آن ها را از سرزمین مصر به بیابان آوردم.

¹⁰Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

¹¹احکام و قوانین خود را به آن ها تعلیم دادم تا مطابق آن ها زندگی کنند.

¹¹And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

¹²روز سبت را هم به عنوان موافقۀ پیمانی که با آن ها بسته بودم، برای شان دادم تا بدانند که من، خداوند، آن ها را تقدیس کرده ام.

¹²Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.

¹³ولی قوم اسرائیل در بیابان هم در مقابل من تمرد کردند. از احکام من سرپیچی نمودند، فرایض مرا که به آن ها حیات می بخشید، بجا نیاوردند و روز سبت مرا بکلی بی حرمت ساختند. پس خواستم که غضب خود را در بیابان بر آن ها نازل کنم و به زندگی همۀ شان خاتمه بدهم.

¹³But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

¹⁴اما باز هم آن کار را نکردم و نخواستم که نام من در میان اقوامی که در برابر چشمان شان قوم اسرائیل را از مصر بیرون آوردم، بی حرمت شود.

¹⁴But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

¹⁵در بیابان برای شان قسم خوردم که آن ها را به سرزمین زیبا و عالی که در آن شیر و عسل جاریست و به آن ها وعدۀ ملکیت آن را داده بودم، نمی برم،

¹⁵Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

¹⁶زیرا آن ها احکام مرا بجا نیاوردند، طبق قوانین من رفتار نکردند، روز سبت مرا بی حرمت ساختند و به بتها دل بستند.

¹⁶Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

¹⁷با اینهم بر آن ها رحم کردم و آن ها را در بیابان از بین نبردم و به حیات شان خاتمه ندادم.

¹⁷Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

¹⁸به فرزندان شان در بیابان گفتم: از رفتار پدران تان تقلید نکنید، پیرو عادات و رسوم آن ها نباشید و با بت پرستی خود را آلوده نسازید.

¹⁸But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

¹⁹من، خداوند، خدای تان هستم. از احکام من پیروی کنید و با دقت کامل فرایض مرا بجا آورید.

¹⁹I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;

²⁰روز سبت مرا که به یاد بود پیمان من با شما، تعیین شده است تجلیل نمائید تا بدانید که من خداوند، خدای تان هستم.

²⁰And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

²¹اما فرزندان شان هم در مقابل من تمرد کردند. احکام مرا بجا نیاوردند، از قوانین حیاتبخش من سرکشی نمودند و روز سبت مرا بی حرمت ساختند. آنگاه خواستم که در بیابان خشم و غضب خود را بر آن ها نازل کنم،

²¹Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

²²ولی باز هم از آن کار صرف نظر کردم که مبادا نام من در میان اقوامی که در برابر چشمان شان بنی اسرائیل را از مصر خارج کردم، بی حرمت گردد.

²²Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

²³همچنین من در بیابان برای شان قسم خورده بودم که آن ها را در بین اقوام و در سراسر روی زمین پراگنده می سازم،

²³I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;

²⁴زیرا آن ها احکام مرا بجا نیاوردند، قوانین مرا رد کردند، روز سبت مرا بی حرمت ساختند و بدنبال بتهای اجداد خود رفتند.

²⁴Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.

²⁵پس من هم احکام و قوانینی را به آن ها دادم که خوب و حیاتبخش نبودند.

²⁵Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

²⁶آن ها را گذاشتم که با قربانی کردن فرزند اول خود برای بتها، خود را نجس سازند و به این ترتیب آن ها را جزا بدهم تا بدانند که من خداوند هستم.

²⁶And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

²⁷پس ای انسان خاکی، از جانب من، خداوند متعال، به قوم اسرائیل بگو که وقتی اجداد شان را به سرزمین موعود آوردم، در آنجا هم به من خیانت کردند و نام مرا بی حرمت ساختند، زیرا بر سر هر تپه و زیر هر درخت سبز برای بتها قربانی نمودند، خوشبوئی دود کردند و عطر و هدایای نوشیدنی آوردند و با این کار خود آتش خشم مرا برافروختند.

²⁷Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

²⁸از آن ها پرسیدم: «این جاهای بلند که شما برای قربانی به آنجا می روید؛ چیست؟» به همین خاطر تا به امروز آنجا را جاهای بلند می گویند.

²⁸For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.

²⁹لهذا از طرف من، خداوند متعال به قوم اسرائیل بگو: آیا شما هم می خواهید مثل اجداد تان با پرستش بتهای منفور خود را آلوده و نجس سازید؟

²⁹Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name whereof is called Bamah unto this day.

³⁰ای قوم اسرائیل، شما که هنوز هم برای بتها هدیه می آورید و فرزندان تان را در آتش قربانی می کنید و خود را نجس می سازید، آیا باز هم توقع دارید که شما را راهنمائی کنم؟ به حیات خودم، خداوند متعال، سوگند که هرگز به شما مشوره ای نمی دهم.

³⁰Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?

³¹شما تصمیم گرفته اید که مثل اقوام دیگر بتهای سنگی و چوبی را بپرستید، اما این تصمیم شما عملی نمی شود.

³¹For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

³²آنچنان که من خداوند متعال، خدای زنده هستم، به حیات خودم سوگند که با دست پُر قدرت و بازوی توانا و خشم سهمگین، بر شما سلطنت می کنم.

³²And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

³³با دست قدرت و قهر شدید خود شما را از بین مردم و از کشورهائی که در آنجا پراگنده شده اید بیرون می آورم

³³As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:

³⁴و همانطوری که اجداد تان را در بیابان سینا محاکمه کردم، شما را هم در «بیابان اقوام» می برم و در آنجا محاکمه می کنم. خداوند متعال فرموده است.

³⁴And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

³⁵شما را به دقت شمرده مُطیع پیمان خود می سازم.

³⁵And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

³⁶افراد متمرد و سرکش و کسانی را که در برابر من گناه ورزیده اند از میان شما جدا می کنم. آن ها را از کشورهائی که در آنجا در حال غربت بسر می برند، بیرون می آورم، اما اجازه نمی دهم که به سرزمین اسرائیل داخل شوند. آنگاه می دانید که من خداوند هستم.»

³⁶Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.

³⁷خداوند متعال می فرماید: «اما ای قوم اسرائیل، حالا هرچه می خواهید بکنید. بروید و بت پرستی کنید، اما بعد از آن البته از اوامر من اطاعت می کنید و دیگر نام پاک مرا با تقدیم هدایا به بتها، بی حرمت نمی سازید.

³⁷And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

³⁸در آن سرزمین، بر کوه مقدس من، یعنی کوه بلند اسرائیل، همۀ شما مرا عبادت می کنید. از عبادت شما راضی می شوم و قربانی ها و هدایای پاک و منزه شما را قبول می کنم.

³⁸And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

³⁹وقتی شما را از کشورهای بیگانه جمع کنم و به سرزمین موعود بازگردانم، برای من مثل هدیۀ معطر و خوشبو می باشید و آنگاه به اقوام دیگر قدوسیت خود را آشکار می سازم.

³⁹As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.

⁴⁰هنگامی که به کشور اسرائیل، یعنی به سرزمین موعود برگردید، می دانید که من خداوند هستم.

⁴⁰For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

⁴¹در آنجا اعمال و کردارتان را که با آن ها خود را آلوده و نجس ساخته بودید، بیاد می آورید و بخاطر آنهمه گناهانی که مرتکب شده اید، از خود متنفر می شوید

⁴¹I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

⁴²و شما ای قوم اسرائیل، می دانید که من آن خداوندی هستم که برای حرمت نام خود با شما بخاطر کارهای زشت تان، طوری که سزاوار هستید، معامله می کنم.» خداوند متعال فرموده است.

⁴²And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.

⁴³بعد خداوند به من فرمود:

⁴³And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

⁴⁴«ای انسان خاکی، رو بسوی جنوب کن و کلام مرا علیه جنوب و جنگلهای آن اعلام نما.

⁴⁴And ye shall know that I am the LORD when I have wrought with you for my name's sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

⁴⁵به آن ها بگو که ای جنگل انبوه به کلام خداوند متعال گوش بده که می فرماید: من آتشی در تو می افروزم و تمام درختان سبز و خشک ترا با شعله های خاموش نشدنی آن می سوزانم. آن آتش همه چیز را، از شمال تا جنوب طعمۀ خود می سازد.

⁴⁵Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

⁴⁶آنگاه تمام بشر می دانند که من خداوند، آن آتش را افروخته ام و خاموش شدنی نیست.»من گفتم: «ای خداوند متعال، من این کار را کرده نمی توانم، زیرا آن ها می گویند که چرا من با آن ها با معما صحبت می کنم.»

⁴⁶Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

⁴⁷من گفتم: «ای خداوند متعال، من این کار را کرده نمی توانم، زیرا آن ها می گویند که چرا من با آن ها با معما صحبت می کنم.»

⁴⁷And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

⁴⁸And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.

⁴⁹Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?
