1وقتی بنی اسرائیل مصر را ترک کردند و اولادۀ یعقوب از سرزمین بیگانگان خارج شدند،
1When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;
2یهودا جایگاه مقدس او شد و اسرائیل محل سلطنت وی.
2Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.
3بحر این را بدید و گریخت و اُردن به عقب برگشت.
3The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.
4کوهها مانند قوچ و تپه ها مثل بره به جست و خیز آمدند.
4The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
5ای بحر ترا چه شد که گریختی؟ و ای اُردن که به عقب برگشتی؟
5What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
6ای کوهها چرا مثل قوچ به جست و خیز آمدید و ای تپه ها چرا مانند بره شدید؟
6Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?
7ای زمین از حضور خداوند متزلزل شو و از حضور خدای یعقوب.که صخره را دریاچۀ آب گردانید و سنگ خارا را چشمۀ آب.
7Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
8که صخره را دریاچۀ آب گردانید و سنگ خارا را چشمۀ آب.
8Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
