1And thou, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
1 "Gwna alarnad am dywysogion Israel,
2and say, What was thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps in the midst of the young lions.
2 a dywed: 'Y fath lewes oedd dy fam ymhlith y llewod! Gorweddodd ymysg y llewod ifainc a magu ei chenawon.
3And she brought up one of her whelps; it became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey; he devoured men.
3 Meithrinodd un o'i chenawon, a thyfodd yn llew ifanc; dysgodd larpio ysglyfaeth a bwyta pobl.
4And the nations heard of him; he was taken in their pit, and they brought him with nose-rings into the land of Egypt.
4 Clywodd y cenhedloedd amdano, ac fe'i daliwyd yn eu pwll; aethant ag ef bachau i wlad yr Aifft.
5And when she saw that she had waited [and] her hope was lost, she took another of her whelps, [and] made him a young lion.
5 Pan welodd hi ei siomi a dinistrio ei gobaith, cymerodd un arall o'i chenawon a gwneud llew ifanc ohono.
6And he went up and down among the lions; he became a young lion, and learned to catch the prey; he devoured men.
6 Yr oedd yn prowla ymhlith y llewod, a thyfodd yn llew ifanc; dysgodd larpio ysglyfaeth a bwyta pobl.
7And he knew their [desolate] palaces, and he laid waste their cities, so that the land was desolate, and all it contained, by the noise of his roaring.
7 Tynnodd i lawr eu ceyrydd, a dinistrio eu dinasoedd; daeth ofn ar y wlad a phopeth ynddi oherwydd su373?n ei ruo.
8Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him; he was taken in their pit.
8 Yna daeth y cenhedloedd yn ei erbyn o'r taleithiau o amgylch; taenasant eu rhwyd drosto, ac fe'i daliwyd yn eu pwll.
9And they put him in a cage with nose-rings, and brought him to the king of Babylon; they brought him into strongholds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.
9 Tynasant ef i gawell bachau, a mynd ag ef at frenin Babilon; rhoddwyd ef mewn carchar, fel na chlywyd ei su373?n mwyach ar fynyddoedd Israel.
10Thy mother was as a vine, in thy rest, planted by the waters: it was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.
10 "'Yr oedd dy fam fel gwinwydden mewn gwinllan, wedi ei phlannu yn ymyl dyfroedd; yr oedd yn ffrwythlon a brigog am fod digon o ddu373?r.
11And it had strong rods for sceptres of them that bear rule, and its stature was exalted between the thick boughs; and it was conspicuous by its height with the multitude of its branches.
11 Yr oedd ei changhennau yn gryfion, yn addas i deyrnwialen llywodraethwyr. Tyfodd yn uchel iawn, uwchlaw'r prysgwydd; yr oedd yn amlwg oherwydd ei huchder a nifer ei changau.
12But it was plucked up in fury, it was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit; its strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them.
12 Ond fe'i diwreiddiwyd mewn dicter, fe'i bwriwyd hi i'r llawr; deifiodd gwynt y dwyrain hi, dinoethwyd hi o'i ffrwythau; gwywodd ei changau cryfion, ac yswyd hwy gan dn.
13And now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground:
13 Yn awr, y mae wedi ei thrawsblannu mewn diffeithwch, mewn tir cras a sychedig.
14and a fire is gone out of a rod of its branches, [which] hath devoured its fruit; so that it hath no strong rod to be a sceptre for ruling. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
14 Lledodd tn o un o'i changhennau ac ysu ei blagur; ni adawyd arni yr un gangen gref, yn addas i deyrnwialen llywodraethwr.' Galarnad yw hon, ac y mae i'w defnyddio'n alarnad."
