1But do *thou* speak the things that become sound teaching;
1ואתה דבר את הנאה ללקח הבריא׃
2that the elder men be sober, grave, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience;
2שיהיו הזקנים משלים ברוחם ומכבדים וצנועים ובריאים באמונה ובאהבה ובסבלנות׃
3that the elder women in like manner be in deportment as becoming those who have to say to sacred things, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is right;
3וכן הזקנות תהי הנהגתן כאשר נאוה לקדש לא תהיינה מלשינות ולא נכבשות לסבוא יין כי אם מלמדות טוב׃
4that they may admonish the young women to be attached to [their] husbands, to be attached to [their] children,
4ומישרות את הצעירות לאהב את בעליהן ולאהב את בניהן׃
5discreet, chaste, diligent in home work, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.
5ולהיות צנועות וטהרות צופיות הליכות ביתן וטבות ונכנעות לבעליהן למען לא יחלל דבר האלהים׃
6The younger men in like manner exhort to be discreet:
6ככה תזהיר גם את הבחורים שיהיו צנועים׃
7in all things affording thyself as a pattern of good works; in teaching uncorruptedness, gravity,
7ובכל דבר היה אתה למופת במעשים טובים בהוראה צרופה ונהדרה׃
8a sound word, not to be condemned; that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us:
8ובדבר בריא ומום אין בו למען יבוש המתקומם ולא ימצא לדבר עליכם רע׃
9bondmen to be subject to their own masters, to make themselves acceptable in everything; not gainsaying;
9העבדים יכנעו לאדניהם ויתרצו להם בכל דבר ולא ימרו את דבריהם׃
10not robbing [their masters], but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the teaching which [is] of our Saviour God in all things.
10ולא ימעלו מעל כי אם יראו כל אמונה טובה למען יפארו בכל את לקח אלהינו מושיענו׃
11For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared,
11כי הופיע חסד אלהים להושיע את כל בני האדם׃
12teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,
12וליסר אתנו אשר נתעב הרשע ותאות העולם ונחיה בעולם הזה בצניעות ובצדק ובחסידות׃
13awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;
13ונחכה לתקוה המאשרת ולהופעת כבוד אלהינו הגדול ומושיענו ישוע המשיח׃
14who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.
14אשר נתן את נפשו בעדנו לגאלנו מכל עול ולטהר לו עם סגלה הזריז במעשים טובים׃
15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.
15את אלה תדבר ותזהיר ותוכיח בכל חזקה ואיש אל יבוז לך׃
