¹Untuk pemimpin kor. Menurut lagu: Jangan memusnahkan. Mazmur dari Daud, ketika Saul menyuruh orang mengawasi rumahnya untuk membunuh dia. (59-2) Ya Allahku, selamatkanlah aku dari musuh-musuhku, lindungilah aku terhadap orang yang menyerang aku.

²Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from men of blood.

²(59-3) Lepaskanlah aku dari orang yang berbuat jahat, luputkanlah aku dari pembunuh-pembunuh.

³For behold, they lie in wait for my soul; strong ones are gathered against me: not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Jehovah.

³(59-4) Lihat, mereka menghadang hendak membunuh aku, orang-orang kejam bergabung melawan aku; padahal bukan karena aku telah berbuat dosa atau melakukan pelanggaran, ya TUHAN.

⁴They run and prepare themselves without [my] fault: awake to meet me, and behold.

⁴(59-5) Bukan juga karena kesalahanku, mereka bergegas-gegas dan bersiap-siap.

⁵Yea, do thou, Jehovah, the God of hosts, the God of Israel, arise to visit all the nations: be not gracious to any plotters of iniquity. Selah.

⁵(59-6) Bangkitlah, Allah Yang Mahatinggi, tolonglah aku. Ya Allah Israel, saksikanlah sendiri. Bangunlah dan hukumlah bangsa-bangsa, jangan mengasihani orang jahat yang berkhianat.

⁶They return in the evening; they howl like a dog, and go round about the city:

⁶(59-7) Pada waktu senja mereka kembali, menggeram seperti anjing sambil mengelilingi kota.

⁷Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips: for who [say they] doth hear?

⁷(59-8) Mereka terus menyindir dan menghina; kata-kata mereka tajam seperti pedang, mereka menyangka tak ada yang mendengar.

⁸But thou, Jehovah, wilt laugh at them; thou wilt have all the nations in derision.

⁸(59-9) Tetapi Engkau menertawakan mereka, ya TUHAN, semua bangsa itu Kaucemoohkan.

⁹Their strength! ... I will take heed to thee; for God is my high fortress.

⁹(59-10) Engkaulah kekuatanku, aku berharap kepada-Mu, Engkau tempat pengungsianku, ya Allah.

¹⁰God, whose loving-kindness will come to meet me, -- God shall let me see [my desire] upon mine enemies.

¹⁰(59-11) Karena kebaikan-Nya Allahku datang kepadaku, Ia membiarkan aku melihat musuhku dikalahkan.

¹¹Slay them not, lest my people forget; by thy power make them wander, and bring them down, O Lord, our shield.

¹¹(59-12) Janganlah membunuh mereka, ya TUHAN, supaya bangsaku jangan lupa. Cerai-beraikanlah dan kalahkanlah mereka dengan kuasa-Mu, ya TUHAN pelindung kami.

¹²[Because of] the sin of their mouth, the word of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; and because of cursing and lying which they speak.

¹²(59-13) Sebab mereka berdosa dengan kata-kata mereka; biarlah mereka terjerat dalam kesombongannya, karena mereka suka mengutuk dan berdusta.

¹³Make an end in wrath, make an end, that they may be no more; that they may know that God ruleth in Jacob, unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

¹³(59-14) Binasakanlah mereka dalam kemarahan-Mu, ya Allah, binasakanlah mereka sampai habis. Maka setiap orang tahu bahwa Allah memerintah Israel, dan pemerintahan-Nya meluas di seluruh bumi.

¹⁴And in the evening they shall return, they shall howl like a dog, and go round about the city.

¹⁴(59-15) Pada waktu senja mereka kembali, menggeram seperti anjing sambil mengelilingi kota.

¹⁵They shall wander about for meat, and stay all night if they be not satisfied.

¹⁵(59-16) Mereka mengembara mencari makan, dan melolong kalau tidak kenyang.

¹⁶But as for me, I will sing of thy strength; yea, I will sing aloud of thy loving-kindness in the morning; for thou hast been to me a high fortress, and a refuge in the day of my trouble.

¹⁶(59-17) Tetapi aku menyanyi tentang kekuatan-Mu; setiap pagi aku menyanyi dengan nyaring tentang kasih dan kesetiaan-Mu. Sebab Engkaulah tempat pengungsianku, tempat aku berlindung di waktu susah.

¹⁷Unto thee, my strength, will I sing psalms; for God is my high fortress, the God of my mercy.

¹⁷(59-18) Ya Allah, kekuatanku, kunyanyikan puji-pujian bagi-Mu, sebab Engkaulah tempat aku berlindung. Ya Allah, kasihku.
