¹And Jehovah said to Moses, Hew for thyself two tables of stone like the first; and I will write upon the tables the words that were upon the first tables, which thou hast broken.

¹主はモーセに言われた、「あなたは前のような石の板二枚を、切って造りなさい。わたしはあなたが砕いた初めの板にあった言葉を、その板に書くであろう。

²And be ready for the morning, and go up in the morning to mount Sinai, and stand there before me on the top of the mountain.

²あなたは朝までに備えをし、朝のうちにシナイ山に登って、山の頂でわたしの前に立ちなさい。

³And let no man go up with thee, neither shall any man be seen on all the mountain; neither shall sheep and oxen feed in front of that mountain.

³だれもあなたと共に登ってはならない。また、だれも山の中にいてはならない。また山の前で羊や牛を飼っていてはならない」。

⁴And he hewed two tables of stone like the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning and went up to mount Sinai, as Jehovah had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

⁴そこでモーセは前のような石の板二枚を、切って造り、朝早く起きて、主が彼に命じられたようにシナイ山に登った。彼はその手に石の板二枚をとった。

⁵And Jehovah came down in the cloud, and stood beside him there, and proclaimed the name of Jehovah.

⁵ときに主は雲の中にあって下り、彼と共にそこに立って主の名を宣べられた。

⁶And Jehovah passed by before his face, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah ùGod merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth,

⁶主は彼の前を過ぎて宣べられた。「主、主、あわれみあり、恵みあり、怒ることおそく、いつくしみと、まこととの豊かなる神、

⁷keeping mercy unto thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but by no means clearing [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth [generation].

⁷いつくしみを千代までも施し、悪と、とがと、罪とをゆるす者、しかし、罰すべき者をば決してゆるさず、父の罪を子に報い、子の子に報いて、三、四代におよぼす者」。

⁸And Moses made haste, and bowed his head to the earth and worshipped,

⁸モーセは急ぎ地に伏して拝し、

⁹and said, If indeed I have found grace in thine eyes, Lord, let the Lord, I pray thee, go in our midst; for it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for an inheritance!

⁹そして言った、「ああ主よ、わたしがもし、あなたの前に恵みを得ますならば、かたくなな民ですけれども、どうか主がわたしたちのうちにあって一緒に行ってください。そしてわたしたちの悪と罪とをゆるし、わたしたちをあなたのものとしてください」。

¹⁰And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels that have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people in the midst of which thou [art] shall see the work of Jehovah; for a terrible thing it shall be that I will do with thee.

¹⁰主は言われた、「見よ、わたしは契約を結ぶ。わたしは地のいずこにも、いかなる民のうちにも、いまだ行われたことのない不思議を、あなたのすべての民の前に行うであろう。あなたが共に住む民はみな、主のわざを見るであろう。わたしがあなたのためになそうとすることは、恐るべきものだからである。

¹¹Observe what I command thee this day: behold, I will drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

¹¹わたしが、きょう、あなたに命じることを守りなさい。見よ、わたしはアモリびと、カナンびと、ヘテびと、ペリジびと、ヒビびと、エブスびとを、あなたの前から追い払うであろう。

¹²Take heed to thyself, that thou make no covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which thou shalt come, lest it be a snare in the midst of thee;

¹²あなたが行く国に住んでいる者と、契約を結ばないように、気をつけなければならない。おそらく彼らはあなたのうちにあって、わなとなるであろう。

¹³but ye shall demolish their altars, shatter their statues, and hew down their Asherahs.

¹³むしろあなたがたは、彼らの祭壇を倒し、石の柱を砕き、アシラ像を切り倒さなければならない。

¹⁴For thou shalt worship no other ùGod; for Jehovah -- Jealous is his name -- is a jealous ùGod;

¹⁴あなたは他の神を拝んではならない。主はその名を『ねたみ』と言って、ねたむ神だからである。

¹⁵lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and then, when they go a whoring after their gods, and sacrifice unto their gods, thou be invited, and eat of their sacrifice,

¹⁵おそらくあなたはその国に住む者と契約を結び、彼らの神々を慕って姦淫を行い、その神々に犠牲をささげ、招かれて彼らの犠牲を食べ、

¹⁶and thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.

¹⁶またその娘たちを、あなたのむすこたちにめとり、その娘たちが自分たちの神々を慕って姦淫を行い、また、あなたのむすこたちをして、彼らの神々を慕わせ、姦淫を行わせるに至るであろう。

¹⁷-- Thou shalt make thyself no molten gods.

¹⁷あなたは自分のために鋳物の神々を造ってはならない。

¹⁸-- The feast of the unleavened bread shalt thou keep: seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread, as I have commanded thee, at the appointed time of the month Abib; for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.

¹⁸あなたは種入れぬパンの祭を守らなければならない。すなわち、わたしがあなたに命じたように、アビブの月の定めの時に、七日のあいだ、種入れぬパンを食べなければならない。あなたがアビブの月にエジプトを出たからである。

¹⁹-- All that openeth the womb [is] mine; and all the cattle that is born a male, the firstling of ox and sheep.

¹⁹すべて初めに生れる者は、わたしのものである。すべてあなたの家畜のういごの雄は、牛も羊もそうである。

²⁰But the firstling of an ass thou shalt ransom with a lamb; and if thou ransom [it] not, then shalt thou break its neck. All the first-born of thy sons thou shalt ransom; and none shall appear before me empty.

²⁰ただし、ろばのういごは小羊であがなわなければならない。もしあがなわないならば、その首を折らなければならない。あなたのむすこのうちのういごは、みなあがなわなければならない。むなし手でわたしの前に出てはならない。

²¹-- Six days shalt thou work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest; in ploughing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

²¹あなたは六日のあいだ働き、七日目には休まなければならない。耕し時にも、刈入れ時にも休まなければならない。

²²-- And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the first-fruits of wheat-harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the turn of the year.

²²あなたは七週の祭、すなわち小麦刈りの初穂の祭を行わなければならない。また年の終りに取り入れの祭を行わなければならない。

²³Thrice in the year shall all thy males appear before the Lord Jehovah, the God of Israel.

²³年に三度、男子はみな主なる神、イスラエルの神の前に出なければならない。

²⁴For I will dispossess the nations before thee, and enlarge thy border, and no man shall desire thy land, when thou goest up to appear before the face of Jehovah thy God thrice in the year.

²⁴わたしは国々の民をあなたの前から追い払って、あなたの境を広くするであろう。あなたが年に三度のぼって、あなたの神、主の前に出る時には、だれもあなたの国を侵すことはないであろう。

²⁵-- Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left over night until the morning.

²⁵あなたは犠牲の血を、種を入れたパンと共に供えてはならない。また過越の祭の犠牲を、翌朝まで残して置いてはならない。

²⁶-- The first of the first-fruits of thy land shalt thou bring into the house of Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

²⁶あなたの土地の初穂の最も良いものを、あなたの神、主の家に携えてこなければならない。あなたは子やぎをその母の乳で煮てはならない」。

²⁷And Jehovah said to Moses, Write thee these words; for after the tenor of these words have I made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

²⁷また主はモーセに言われた、「これらの言葉を書きしるしなさい。わたしはこれらの言葉に基いて、あなたおよびイスラエルと契約を結んだからである」。

²⁸-- And he was there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; he ate no bread, and drank no water. -- And he wrote on the tables the words of the covenant, the ten words.

²⁸モーセは主と共に、四十日四十夜、そこにいたが、パンも食べず、水も飲まなかった。そして彼は契約の言葉、十誡を板の上に書いた。

²⁹And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai -- and the two tables of testimony were in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mountain -- that Moses knew not that the skin of his face shone through his talking with him.

²⁹モーセはそのあかしの板二枚を手にして、シナイ山から下ったが、その山を下ったとき、モーセは、さきに主と語ったゆえに、顔の皮が光を放っているのを知らなかった。

³⁰And Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.

³⁰アロンとイスラエルの人々とがみな、モーセを見ると、彼の顔の皮が光を放っていたので、彼らは恐れてこれに近づかなかった。

³¹And Moses called to them; and they turned to him, -- Aaron and all the principal men of the assembly; and Moses talked with them.

³¹モーセは彼らを呼んだ。アロンと会衆のかしらたちとがみな、モーセのもとに帰ってきたので、モーセは彼らと語った。

³²And afterwards, all the children of Israel came near; and he gave them in commandment all that Jehovah had spoken with him on mount Sinai.

³²その後、イスラエルの人々がみな近よったので、モーセは主がシナイ山で彼に語られたことを、ことごとく彼らにさとした。

³³And Moses ended speaking with them; and he had put on his face a veil.

³³モーセは彼らと語り終えた時、顔おおいを顔に当てた。

³⁴And when Moses went in before Jehovah to speak with him, he took the veil off, until he came out; and he came out, and spoke to the children of Israel what he was commanded.

³⁴しかしモーセは主の前に行って主と語る時は、出るまで顔おおいを取り除いていた。そして出て来ると、その命じられた事をイスラエルの人人に告げた。イスラエルの人々はモーセの顔を見ると、モーセの顔の皮が光を放っていた。モーセは行って主と語るまで、また顔おおいを顔に当てた。

³⁵And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone; and Moses put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

³⁵イスラエルの人々はモーセの顔を見ると、モーセの顔の皮が光を放っていた。モーセは行って主と語るまで、また顔おおいを顔に当てた。
